Hilltop is a beautiful camp ground, my family and I have been camping here for years. I am really curious on what has happened to the camping community. I went early Friday to reserve a site, paid and put the stub showing I had paid. When we got to the site a family was there and our stub was gone. They had no remorse or empathy for what they did and the man took off his shirt, trying to threaten my husband. Luckily there was one spot available that opened last minute and we were able to camp there. As I am writing this the group behind us are being very loud and inconsiderate at 12 am. You go camping to get away from the city and enjoy nature. If you are going to be up all night drinking stay home and go to a bar!! I feel sorry for the children being raised by parents who think it’s ok to steal someone’s campsite they already paid for. It’s sad. People also drive fast around the campsite where children are playing. We wont be...
Read moreLovely campground, HOWEVER we had to abandon our trip because the group in the 2 sites below us were doing some kind of a childrens campout with around what seemed like 20 small children who began at the crack of first light to be doing what kids do: running around playing screaming making it impossible to sleep, they did not observe quiet hours at all. having arrived late due to our work schedules we go very little sleep and found we could not have peace, they were everywhere , we were surrounded by them even into the day. it more of less ruiined our special planned birthday campout and much needed rest and rejuvenation, and long awaited gettaway, we came home early and were exhausted and very dissapointed. never to desire to camp with the public again. sadly the hosts were wonderful upon check in but not arround to monitor the noise or make a complaint to. I would never go again on a weekend. go when kids are in...
Read moreWe spend a lot of time up here at Hilltop! It was just renovated 2019-2020 so everything is new and trimmed and beautiful! The elevation is about 8,400 feet so it stays so nice and cool and the views are fantastic! There are 35 sites with grills and fire pits with grills so lots of cooking space. They have single sites for up to 8 people with one picnic table for $19 per night. The double sites give you two picnic tables and you can have up to 16 people in your site and that's for $45 per night. And, you can stay for up to 14 nights! Dogs are welcome and must always be on a leash which is so nice so you feel safe walking your own dog! The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it is primitive camping so there's no water in the campground (like water spigots, sinks in the bathrooms or flushing toilets). For a primitive campground, I do...
