Described as rustic is no lie. Served it's purpose and would probably return for location...but with cleaning products and mindset of this is not the Holiday Inn for sure!||||Let's start with the good...perfect for those that don't wear tiaras :) ||- Location is awesome||- Perfect for ATVer's in the summer, located near several trails and onsite rentals with great trail info||- Ranch staff is out of this world friendly and easy to accommodate||- Restaurant and Bar are available on site - beer and wine only, open until 9ish||- Most of restaurant staff was friendly (a couple morning girls did not want to be there)||- Food was good, lots of seafood which was odd in the middle of Black Hills. ||- Live music on weekends was nice, outside||- General Store on site, well stocked and not really overpriced||- ATV available on site||- great place for families, there is quiet time starting at 10pm||- fire pits at each location||||Now the not so good||- Cabin (Martin House) is OLD. Could not open screens for air circulation as they were full of holes and tears, floors were all off balance always felt like a barrel roll||- Beds were old and very soft (back was fried after 3 nights in one)||- Wall pictures in every drawer available, so to use dresser as dresser need to empty||- Cabin floor in one unit bathroom had holes and duct tape to keep you from stepping through||- Curtains were towels on some windows||- Floor, walls, doors, etc were filthy, but don't eat off them so look past it!||- fans provided were filthy and falling apart, made for some allergy issues||- only 1 - 2 plug outlet in the bedroom and 1 - 2 plug and 1 - 4 plug in main area, so if fans, micro, table lamp and mini fridge plugged in you are out of luck||- General store hours 9am-5or 6pm so plan ahead||||Overall it was convenient and if in area would probably check elsewhere first, but would not put this place last...

We go down to Nemo Guest Ranch at least 3-4 times per year. We take our Raptor Toy Hauler and the Polaris Ranger and we just putz around on the trails and go all over and of course you have to hit Sugar Shack for their burgers! You can ride your ATV/UTV right up to Sugar Shack's front door. Troy and Willie are just super people and they treat people like you want to be treated. Don't be in a rush when you get there and just try to settle down and RELAX. If riding horses or ATV's Troy will draw you out a map of the trails. Some are really easy and smooth and some can be rocky and rough. All kinds of trails and sights to see. They have cabins too, some are old and rustic and some are recently built. We have stayed in them too before we got our Toy Hauler. Nemo is centrally located right in the middle of everything. 20-30 miles in all directions are all the sights to see. Once again don't expect any frills as this is a leave your worries behind place to stay. We can't say enough good about Troy and Willie as they have become good friends to us too. Don't forget to have Troy play his piano! It is one of a kind and really neat! Nemo Guest Ranch is so peaceful we never want to leave but then reality sets in and to home we head. Enjoy your stay and have fun, life is short so...

We rented one of their newest properties, the 1925 house. It's a great little cabin. The second bedroom on the top floor had 2 foldout chairs perfect for my children, living room and dining room were accommodating. On Sunday, the owner stopped by the house, he was super friendly, got the wi-fi code for us, and shared that we could park up on the flat spot near the fire rings. It is that time of year for bugs, however, the house definitely needed to be vacuumed and swept before we arrived. There were hundreds of dead flies all over the house and other weird bugs. If allowed some fly spray morning of check in would have been very helpful for the hundreds of giant alive flies congregating in the windows. (however, swatting flies did keep the kids occupied for quite some time!) The bottom side of the non-slip mat and the part of the tub that was covered by the mat were slimy and disgusting. Lastly, anyone who owns a front load washer knows they get gross quickly, the inside ring of the washer looked like it had never been cleaned! This cabin could use a deep clean over the winter months. Should we opt to rent a cabin rather than camp again, I would definitely rent this cabin again. The Branding Iron is always delicious, and the Nemo Merc is...

So this is a quaint, well worn old guest ranch. Not fancy at all but quite adequate for home base to explore the Black Hills. We keep brining folks and they are never disappointed. The cabins are like old motor court cabins. Baths, fan, bed. We use the camping area for family gatherings. 30 and 50 amp service and water. Dump station nearby. Between Deadwood and Rapid City on the Nemo Road. Leaves Rapid via Chicago St and is a twisty mountain road easily navigable with RVs or pull behinds. An alternative route from Surgis is the Vanocker Canyon Rd, another mountain road but seems a bit easier due to its width. Lovely views either direction. Plenty to do in the area. RV rental on site with both side-by-sides and four-person trail vehicles. Miles of Forest Service trails and roads to explore from quite rugged to plain gravel roads. A trip up Nemo Mtn via FS trail is a must. Great overlook of the ranch and valley. Central to Sturgis, Deadwood, Custer, Faces and Crazy Horse. And the Needles Hwy. The Brandin’ Iron is on site for meals. A nice rustic cafe with hearty meals and great service. A full-service bar even has a lodgepole pine growing bright up through it.

Nemo Guest Ranch is a great spot to stay in the Black Hills. They have tent, car, and RV spots as well as cabins to rent. There is a store and restaurant on site and fast Wi-Fi at the store which has lots of seating inside and out. There are bathrooms and showers close to tent camping. The restaurant had a varied menu and the fettuccini was very good. There is a bar in the back. There is also an ATV rental shop at the front entrance. It's within 20 miles if Sturgis Everyone there was very nice as helpful with anything I needed. There is a nice stream that goes by some of the campsite and it had nice ambiance in the evening while deer grazed nearby. I wish I spent more than one night there. I look forward to my next visit to the Black Hills and Nemo Guest Ranch.
