I was wrongfully overcharged for my meal at EQC Bar and Grill. I ordered a tab totalling $44 and some change during a visit to EQC. I left a $10 tip and rounded the change up so the total bill should've been $55. When looking at the charge on my credit card statement later, I was billed $116 (a $61 difference). I have also spent multiple hours of my time at this point trying to get a resolution from EQC, of which no adequate resolution has been offered. They advised me to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I have done so, but it is unclear if they will rectify the dispute or deny my claim. I am also supposed to wait 90 days for a resolution from the credit card company, and in all honesty this wasn't their fault it was EQC’s fault. Full timeline is below if you care to see the impact, long story short if you go to EQC to dine you should double check your receipt and keep receipts for everything you do there. Or pay in cash. Also they will not provide you a resolution if you do have a dispute.
Timeline (keep in mind I live 40 minutes away with no traffic so each trip to EQC is minimum 1.5 hours of travel):
Nov 10 - visit EQC spend $55 at bar and grill
Nov 12 - charge transitions from “pending” on credit card and settles as $116 charge
Nov 17 - return to EQC to talk to the bar manager about the mistake, told that the person that can pull receipts isn’t in the building and asked to leave my info so they can call me back Monday (Nov 18).
Nov 19 - Messaged the bar manager I met with on Nov 17 as I hadn't heard from the person that was supposed to reach out to me on Nov 18. The bar manager responds saying that they looked for my receipt on Nov 18 but couldn't find one totalling $116. I send him a screenshot of my credit card statement to show the charge, he gives me a generic EQC phone number to call and asks me to leave a message with the beverage office for Steve (the person who can pull receipts). I call and leave a message.
Nov 21 - I have left a message multiple times for Steve, no response. I message the bar manager again. He says he talked to Steve and they think i should dispute the charge with the credit card company. I ask him if there is a way we can at least pull my receipt as I think I will need that to dispute with my credit card company. He stops responding. I open dispute with my credit card company.
Nov 23 - Credit card company asks for a copy of receipt, I start trying to contact finance/accounting within EQC to try to get a copy of receipt.
Nov 27 - Finally have a meeting with someone from accounting who can allegedly pull the receipt. I make another trip to EQC to meet with her, she pulls a receipt and hands it to me. Its someone else's receipt that was attached to my credit card. Signature on the receipt is not mine and the receipt was for shots of liquor, 10+ Modelos and some food. Clearly a group tab as if I had consumed all of that I likely would have been black out drunk (I was only at EQC for a couple hours Nov 10 and I drove home).
I have opened a complaint with the Better Business...
Read moreIf I could give this place negative stars I would. For $250 a night- this has to be the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Starting with the pool and spa being out of service and unable to be used. A coffee bar in the hotel lobby that is never open. We played for hours in the casino- and headed up to bed at around 130am and fell asleep. We asked the front desk for water- but were told they only had water for sale. The casino gives away water all throughout the casino- why would the hotel not have free water for guests who are staying?
Our room was nice, and the bed was comfortable. We were having a night away from our children, and were excited to sleep in. Little did we know what we were in store for throughout the night.
We were woken up at 230am with noises so loud it sounded like someone was in our room. Banging, opening and closing of doors, carts being moved. It literally sounded like we were being invaded. It was constant for at least an hour before my wife called the front desk. The front desk said they would send security and call us back. Never got a call back. We never did figure out where the noise was coming from. Our best guess is that we were staying on the 10th floor, and the restaurant was above us. We assume the staff was cleaning up for the night. The noise finally stopped around 4:00am, just in time for people to start going in and out of there rooms. Who designs a brand new hotel with room doors that don’t slow close? Every single time someone went in or out of their door, it slammed loud enough in the hall to echo thru the room. It honestly would have been quieter to sleep in my car. I’ve never experienced such a loud room. Had I not spent hours drinking in the casino- I would have drove the 2 hrs home at 3am.
We got a total of 2 hours of sleep before we decided to just get up and go home. We took a shower before we left, and the shower had terrible water pressure. There was no way you could properly shower. I would have been better off filling cups of water in the sink and dumping them on my head.
When we finally decided to cut our losses and head home, we walked past the coffee bar in the lobby at 8am- that way of course was closed on a Sunday morning. Our friends and us have hotel reservations for a concert in Tacoma next year , we will be cancelling all 3 rooms today.
Worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel. I’d rather stay at a motel 6 than...
Read moreThis review will focus on your experience attending a concert here, and or going for light gaming rather than the hotel. There are two large covered parking garages directly connected to the casino. There's no charge for parking. However, they have no system to display how many spots, if any are left. We drove around both garages for about 40 minutes trying to find a free spot. Finally, an attendant recommended that we drive a few blocks away and park on city side streets. I didn't mind the walk but it was raining and also we were a bit worried about whether the car would be secure. There were hundreds of other cars slowly driving around in circles trying to find a spot prior to a concert. So I would recommend going very very early for any kind of event because the parking is obviously in severe shortage. Once inside, you will go through a metal detector, have your ID saved on the computer, right at the entrance, airport style. As unexpected as that was, what was a bit offensive was that in order to get into the event hall, we had to go through a second layer of even more scrutinous security. We were patted down prison style, asked to turn around, open bags, and empty our pockets, despite the fact that we already went through the metal detector at the entrance. And if you are seated in the event center and go to the bathroom. You have to go through the whole thing again. This seems a bit unnecessary and also gave off a low-class vibe. Speaking of which, most of the employees seem like they were pretty grumpy and didn't want to be there. Also, if you want to know what it was like to live in 1957, you're about to find out because people will be smoking everywhere. If you have asthma or allergies, there doesn't seem to be any clear air space for you to hang out in. The facility itself seems nice and clean, other than of course the air. In summary, the parking situation is a disaster, you will breathe, vape and smoke the whole time, and you'll be treated like you're about to enter Rikers Island, at least once and potentially several times. We left thinking this was severely mismanaged and therefore it's unlikely to get a...
