This clean, comfortable hotel is the only hotel in Thorp. They provide a modest continental breakfast, as well as coffee in the lobby. The lobby is a comfortable space to spend time with your travel companions. While the hotel isn’t bad overall, their prices seem a bit high for the location. Make sure to CALL the hotel directly to book your room – if you book online, you’ll pay significantly more (around $40 more), and will have problems if you need to cancel your reservation. Quite an inconvenience in this day and age.

I've been to this hotel numerous times over the years (since we have family in the area), and have many fond memories from its heyday as an AmericInn, back when it still had a sauna and hot tub. Our family group was in the area for a funeral, and we were really looking forward to unwinding together in the hot tub. Unfortunately, the hot tub has been filled in with cement ☹ There's now a pool table where the hot tub used to be (you can request the pool cues and balls at the front desk), and while this was fun, we still really missed the hot tub.

The staff are sticklers about their policy of no food in the pool area, and I was reprimanded for trying to bring in a bag of chips for us to eat while we played cards at a table. While I respect that they’re well within their rights to enforce this rule, I was still a bit taken aback as most hotels I’ve been to aren’t this strict - it's not like we were throwing a pizza party, lol. She also made a comment about this to another member of my group after the fact, which felt even more awkward.

Lastly, my aunt and her partner stayed in an accessible room that had a strong musty odor as soon as we walked into the room. My cousin and my husband were both so taken aback by the smell that they had to leave the room right away. My aunt notified the front desk, who provided her with Febreze to mask the odor. I imagine they could have switched rooms, but my aunt didn’t ask as they had already settled in. Several family members and I also noticed a cannabis odor in the hallway. I personally have no problem with cannabis use, but the odor was a bit unpleasant and I wish people would partake outdoors instead of inside the hotel.

Overall, this hotel is still clean, comfortable, and adequate, although not as nice as it once was. I would consider staying here if I ever need to visit the Thorp area again. The front desk also sells decent frozen pizzas (which they prepare for you), beer, and wine from a local winery - it's nice to have those options. There is also a small elevator up to the second floor for people with mobility limitations or heavy luggage.

Jacuzzi rooms are available (at a higher price, of course). While the jacuzzi was nice, it's not the same as hanging out in the hot tub with your entire group.

P.S. - the Thorpedo (family restaurant) is a local staple, within walking distance of the hotel. You won't be disapponted!! They serve breakfast all day as well as homemade pie, but my personal favorite is the chopped steak with mashed potatoes & gravy 🤤 For a quick bite, McDonald's is right next door, and a 24-hr Kwik Trip is just...

Stayed here Oct. 2022. Started off to a bad start.....The day I made the reservation about a week before our stay, I called to see if we could have a very late checkout and then continue to swim if we needed to due to being stranded at the hotel while husband would be at a meeting. The girl was very accommodating and said that we could in fact check out at 3:30 and then be in the pool area after that if needed. Once we got there and got checked in, it was a different story! They said that check out was 11 and we said how we had gotten prior permission to check out at 3:30 if needed (this was early in the week, not a busy weekend.) After an exchange of words and the prompting of my husband to meet in the middle, we agreed on 1:30. We ended up being able to check out at 1 and they let us leave our luggage in a locked conference room while we left on foot to waste time so that was accommodating - I just wished it hadn't started out in the wrong way contradicting themselves. This is a very easy hotel to find, although being right by the highway is quite loud (bring a fan or noise cancelers for night and an eye mask.) The hotel itself is very well-kept and pretty, rooms are decorated nicely and cozy. No trash can in bathroom and shampoo is a "conditioning shampoo" with no conditioners. No bottle of lotion either. Pool is nice sized, but seemed to have a spider problem. No hot tub, sauna was locked and down for service. There is a pool table where the hot tub used to be. Breakfast was disappointing with no eggs or sausages or fresh fruits. Juice and milks come in containers which isn't all bad for people on the go. People were complaining of cold coffee. They did have waffles but gross french toast sticks, hard boiled eggs, plain cereal, packaged oatmeal and packaged breads, muffins, donut holes, bagels. We personally appreciate more "hot foods". There's a great cafe right next door called the Thorpedo, McD's, Subway, gas station, etc.. We were able to walk just a bit and go to a dairy where you can get a tour or go on a self guided - that was nice and they have a great gift shop and restaurant. All in all I'd stay again, knowing what to expect with breakfast and the...

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, quiet. Breakfast selection is small since it's a continental breakfast. But what they do have is good, I was satisfied. Room quality and maintenance of the hotel are both very good I found very little to complain about. Not even worth pointing out here as it's more nitpicky than anything else. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody coming to this area it's a quality hotel and you won't regret it, two thumbs up for me. One thing I would note I was surprised that the front desk offers wine beer and fresh pizza cooked behind the front desk and a pizza oven. All you have to do is call and ask it takes about 15 minutes to cook the pizza. They have two or three different styles and they're all thin crust style pizzas they were very tasty. But you should remember if you want to order some wine or beer you need to do that before 10:00 p.m. as I can't sell it after that time. I would also note that there is a very large gas station/grocery store across the street from the hotel if you want to get something else and I believe they're open 24 hours a day.

Great location and great service. Rooms are a little dated but everything was clean and in its place. Breakfast was okay, eggs and sausage. Yogurt and cereal. Didn't try the pool but the sitting area outside was nice. For the price you'd think the rooms would be up to date but overall a good experience.
