**Read everyone's reviews before driving here

Called this place multiple times per day for multiple days prior to arrival to book a room, but there was no answer. Arrived in the morning and was able to get a room. The guy was nice, but it was still a little early, so after paying, he said to come back later to check in. Went back to check-in, and a different man was there with a child. The guy acted like I didn't exist. Finally, he turned his head and asked, "Do you need something?" I told him, "I'm here to check in" as instructed, and my reservation was lost! If I didn't have a receipt from the previous guy hours prior, I'm pretty sure they would have denied my stay.

Looking at the rooms you'd want to say, "they tried." They didn't, though. The room that they put me was NOT ready for guests.

I walked into the room, and the heater was running on high. It's 38 degrees outside, but it was 50 when I arrived. I've been in the room with windows open for 2.5 hours still and dying - the duct taped AC unit has 2 settings that work. Heat high or off ... no cool.

The "remodeling" of the bathroom of the room I stayed is so bad, that to do it properly and make it safe for guests - they'll have to rip the entire thing apart and start over. While there's no mold now, the way in which they worked it, it's impossible to clean and remove moisture and by trying to take these short cuts will put them out of business. Doing it right the first time would save them a little money and guests' health.

No caulking at all - zero caulk in the bathroom, but an inch gap between everything.

Hot water takes a bit, but it's at an extremely dangerous temperature. In 40 years of living a tub hasn't burned me. This did. Do not allow children around the water alone.

The electric outlets do not work. Most of them are covered in paint. Not only were they so lazy that they couldn't take 30 seconds to remove an outlet cover to do a paint job properly, but they couldn't at least spend $0.20 to replace the outlet covers they trashed? The only "new" outlets are non functional. The room is $130 + tax per night. Motel 6 is $39 - motel 6 has standards they must abide, but this place doesn't.

Broken bed. My fridge hadn't been clean and poo stains in my toilet. Not acceptable no matter the price.

A dirty black tub that is supposed to be white (i used their wash clothes to clean out the dirt and washed 2 roaches down the drain), and took a photo of the tub so I don't get charged for soiled towels bcs they didn't clean.

Floors covered in saw dust.

Molding/ everything attached with self tapping screws like an afterthought? What happened to finishing nails?!

The quality of this hotel is not great.

WORLD FAMOUS CLOWN HOTEL = in 2019 people bought a rundown hotel... put in a dusty collection of clowns (NONE for purchase in clown store only to collect dust (grinders and lighter are the only things for purchase)) and rented out rooms 3x the cost of a motel 6 without the quality assurance.

I love fun and gimmicky stuff, but this is not either of those.

This is a trash dumpster inside and out.

In my years working hotels, my housekeepers could and WOULD clean 16 rooms in an 8 hour shift or 14 large suites (20-25min each room). I was gone a few hours for them to get my room ready and I'm not even sleeping in this pig pen that TWO people supposedly cleaned?

Keep having to return for edits bcs of the craziness of this place.

The window to my room wasn't secure. I had to open it to let the heat exhaust and the window is too small for the track so it just sits there for decoration.

While sitting in the parking to sleep in my car i see the comfort inn 0.5mi away is 10% cheaper, likely where I'll end up after paying for this...

WARNING: owner is abusive and abuses his own employees!

Holy mother of GOD, do not stay here. The owner is beyond rude and inappropriate. We walked in and he completely ignored us. Christopher, who does the ghost tours, was a total sweetheart, but the owners…. Awful. I don’t know why I wasted my time trying to be nice to the man working after he clearly snubbed us.

I told my boyfriend when we left, “I bet the owner abuses Christopher.” I came here to read some reviews and that fear was confirmed. Christopher - you are so kind and you deserve better.

I asked for a sweatshirt and brought it to the counter. It was a size large. I purchased it and right after, the owner said, “for you, you need an extra large.” LOL WHAT. What kind of random stranger comments on a woman’s size? He told me to go try on the large and as I walked away humiliated, he started laughing with his worker about how I would need a 2x with my sweater on. I was fuming. And for the record, the large fit. Not that it matters. Bodies are bodies and I know and love mine.

I went up to the counter again and said “it fits but what you just said to me was totally inappropriate.” He laughed in my face and gave me a quarter-hearted apology. I told him to never say something like that to a woman again. If he had half a brain, he’d know that so many of us have struggled with eating disorders or, at the very least, body image.

He gave me a refund, probably to avoid this review, and I left feeling embarrassed and disgusted.

The collection is cool but this is a total money grab. I told him I was staying at Shady Lady and his only question was “how much do they charge?” Clearly solely concerned with money and competition.

If you’re reading this - Shady Lady is the best bed and breakfast I’ve ever stayed at. Jennifer is kind and genuine. Stay there!!! Not here! This place is just a money grab run by disgusting and cruel people who will not hesitate to laugh in your face, bully you, and/or ignore you.

Call me an SJW if you want, dude, but at least I’m a kind human. More than you can say.

Avoid this gimmick. These owners have only been here for five years and clearly they’re going to run the place into the ground with their personalities.

One positive is that the non-owners working there were cool.

Guessing a lot of these reviews are from people who either get free rooms or who are paid to make YouTube videos about this place. Do not believe the hype. Outside of Christopher and the green haired girl, this place is total garbage in every possible way.

The only entity haunting the Clown Motel is the sociopath...

DO NOT STAY HERE!! OWNER A TERRIBLE PERSON!! (I apologize in advance for the essay) I stayed here just about a month ago and there was almost nobody there. I only really saw a small group of filmographers. Sometime after midnight(maybe even past 1am), the owner began to scream violently at one of his employees. It was extremely disrespectful to his employee and us as guests so late in the evening. I would describe the way he spoke as verbal abuse. No human being should ever experience that. I met the employee myself and we took the tour as well and he was such a light. The nicest guy I've ever met and he made staying there that much more fun. I couldn't possibly imagine that man doing anything to deserve the way he was treated. I thought it was none of my business, though, and we checked out in the morning. That was the end of it.

Until today when I came across a video on YouTube and recognized the person that uploaded the video as one of the filmographers. I decided to find and watch the video out of curiosity to see if I came out in the background somewhere lol. But they actually recorded a lot of what happened that night and actually gave some insight on what the owner was yelling about. Turns out he is an absolutely horrible person and a terrible businessman. He yelled such nasty things at the employee, which I now know is named Chris, without a single logical reason. To find out through that video that Chris was fired, because the owner is such a money-hungry and selfish person, hit me and I came straight here to write this review. Also the fact that he had absolutely no care in the world for his guests trying to sleep as he yelled at the top of his lungs, just shows he doesn't have a care in the world for that business. I hope Chris gets hired in a great place with a boss that treats him like the amazing person and hard worker that he is. I hope the Clown Hotel is blessed with a new owner because it is such an amazing location and experience. Under better management, it can be something great. As for the owner, I hope he heals his soul and betters himself as a human being. I don't normally write reviews but this one felt necessary. As cool as the paranormal activity was, it was not worth what happened. Will not be returning here. If you'd like to see the video for credibility reasons or just curiosity, the title is "CAMPING AT HAUNTED CLOWN MOTEL GONE WRONG KICKED OUT" and the channel...

Everyone on the internet loves to talk about how spooky and creepy this place is, but I think they are all making it up lmao. It was only recently that the Clown Motel was purchased and "upgraded" from it's original baby blue exterior with a friendly clown sign to the multicolor circus vibe with the giant wooden creepy clowns hanging from the outside. I didn't even realize until I got home that they even changed the sign from a happy clown to a scary one (it was poorly painted over). We didn't stay the night because it was a last minute day trip for us and I wanted to make sure that it wasn't "weird" after all of the stories people post for engagement online. It was not scary at all, at least not in the sense that people want you to believe. It's spooky because it's an small town in the hills. The wind catches on all of the abandoned equipment and buildings around and sounds a bit haunting. It's easy to let your mind wander. I think a lot of the stories are from people who have never experienced a tiny desert town before. I keep checking the weather because as soon as it starts to warm up a little bit, we are headed back to stay the night so I can prove to everyone that clowns are not that bad!!! Now for the history, put some respect on the clown!!!!!!! The place has a clown theme because it was opened in 1985 in memory of Clarence David who is buried in the cemetery next door. They used the property to display his clown collection. It was never meant to be a scary and spooky thing. The hotel didn't gain notoriety online and in horror circles until Ghost Adventures did an episode in 2015. Have you ever seen an episode of Ghost Adventures? It's mostly bullshit. I used to be a big fan of this show, and I remember the Halloween special they did where it was so obviously faked that they had to release a follow up episode apologizing for the people on set who were faking things. Zak Bagans is good at entertainment though, and I don't blame the owners of the property (at this point, Clarence David's family had already sold it to the Perchetti's) for indulging in everyones ghost stories. It brought tourism and money to their tiny motel. In 2019, the hotel was sold to the Mehar family from Las Vegas who promised to keep the clown collection alive. They have been renovating the rooms- you can stay in a variety of horror themed bedrooms. They have painted the exterior, and even purchased the property across the street with plans to open up more retail for guests to enjoy such as an ice cream parlor. #homemeansnevada #clownmotel #tonopahnevada
