My partner and I were very excited to spend a few nights at the Bedford Post Inn for our fifth anniversary after staying with some friends in Pound Ridge earlier that week.
While the price tag was a bit high, we thought it would be a lovely way to spend our anniversary, especially since it’s a part of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a slightly frantic front desk attendant. We were then shown to our room where we settled in and then decided it was time for an afternoon cocktail. After all, it was 3:00pm on a Sunday. We made our way down to “The Barn” which is the only open restaurant on the premises - normally there are 3. We were told they were closed between brunch and dinner. Normally that wouldn’t be a problem, but there was no minibar, no room service, and no other restaurants/bars in the surround areas, so we were out of luck.
Later that day as we were got ready for dinner, we found that our shower wouldn’t get hotter than lukewarm. The sink? More than very hot. But the shower just wouldn’t heat up. So a lukewarm shower would have to do.We left our room to walk to the restaurant for our reservation, which thankfully we made because when we checked in earlier that day we were told by the front desk that they were fully booked. And again, nothing else was open at the hotel.
When we finished dinner, we passed the front desk where we were asked whether we still wanted our evening beverage and charcuterie plate. At check-in we told them we would love that. “Are you sure?” asked the front desk attendant asked at 9pm. “Yes, that would be great.” I said. “And the charcuterie plate? Are you sure?” “Yes,...please” I said. Confused, we wandered back to our room. The after dinner drink and plate never arrived.
The next day both my partner and I had a little bit of work to do so we turned the TV on and opened our laptops. No more than 5 minutes passed and the TV froze and started buffering and our internet cut in and out. We walked to the front desk and asked for their help. One of the employees came to our room and proceeded to inspect the back of our TV for about 5 minutes. Clearly a bit out of her element, she told us she was going to get someone to help and would be back. She never returned. No one came to fix it. Also, there is no cell service at the hotel so without WIFI you’re a little out of luck.
While I understand that this is only a 4-star hotel, I would have expected more from a boutique property that had only 8 rooms and whose cheapest room...

Read moreWe cannot say enough wonderful things about the Barn, the Tavern, and the Inn at the Bedford Post Inn!
Every visit to the Tavern is an experience—special shout out to Sunny and Nelson, who consistently go above and beyond to make each brunch and dinner memorable. The food is always spectacular, and the ambiance is unmatched: lush and vibrant in spring, cozy and romantic in the fall with the fire pits and changing leaves. It’s a magical place year-round.
We were lucky enough to host our wedding at the Bedford Post Inn in September 2024, and it was truly a dream come true. Thank you to Amanda, Susan, Sunny, Nelson, and Paige for making it all possible. The Loft and Zen Garden were absolutely stunning, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about the beauty of the setting and the quality of the food and service.
When we first considered Bedford Post in early spring 2024, the new spaces were still coming together, and we hadn’t yet tasted the food—so committing to our wedding there felt like a leap of faith. But Sunny took the time to walk us through every detail and gave us total confidence in the vision. Paige made sure we were fully present and able to enjoy every moment of our day, while quietly and flawlessly executing everything behind the scenes. Amanda and Sunny helped us design an incredible food and beverage menu, and Nelson brought it all to life with effortless, professional precision. Susan and the Inn team made us feel cared for from start to finish, delivering white-glove service from our getting-ready suite to the very end of the night.
We’re filled with gratitude for the unforgettable memories—and now, Bedford Post is forever a part of our family story. Every visit lets us relive our wedding day, and we can’t wait to return for future anniversaries and...
