Beautiful restaurant, but despite high expectations my party of 4 had a very disappointing dinner there on Saturday night. What we enjoyed: the lovely room and setting, low noise level, professional waitstaff, a nice bottle of wine). BUT my entire party of four was disappointed with the food. To start, we had a butter lettuce salad (good), artichoke (tasteless, needed salt) and we shared the signature lobster Mac and cheese (one person loved it, the others were underwhelmed). Entrees ranged from a disgusting, inedible Arctic char with an excess of gelatinous, cloyingly sweet sauce, an ordinary chicken paprikash, and tasteless cod with truffle sauce (note: we scraped off the sauces, added salt, and in two cases simply didn’t eat the entree). Dessert was also unremarkable ( good but not great chocolate mousse cake, and ordinary ice cream and sorbet. Save your money, go elsewhere. We don’t...
Read moreWe’ve been to the Farmhouse twice this year (because given the setting, I wanted to give it a second chance). BUT.... It’s unlikely we’ll be back for a third chance, because it’s consistently disappointing! It could be amazing because the location and building are great, if only the owners would significantly upgrade the chef and get some decent waiting staff in. However, the service is one of the worst in the area and the food is distinctly underwhelming. The food is often cold or lukewarm and simply subpar in terms of quality. What’s worse is that it’s expensive - they charge the same prices you would pay for a Michelin Star establishment in the city but you’re getting food that is worse than you’d get on a cruise ship. Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Somebody let me know when the owners get a...
Read moreOne of the most disappointing dinners I have had. Mushroom soup came cold and had to be returned. Duck breast was okay but all the accompaniments were over salted. The side order of the brussels sprouts was also over salted. The people I was with also commented on the chief's heavy hand with salt. The apple crisp was laced with so many different herbs (rosemary for one) that it totally distracted from the apples. I would be hard pressed to return to what was touted in the Metropolitan Section of the NY Times as Excellent. I gave it one star only because you have to give it a star to get your...
