This is in our neighborhood so it's unfortunate to have to write this review. We have watched this place fail again and again and again because the owners and managers never understood the Bedford audience they were serving. The new group that took over apparently has a following in Brooklyn and Manhattan so the excitement and anticipation was very high to see what they would deliver. The interior renovation looks great, but the menu and the service so far has been forgettable bordering on terrible. We have been there four times since they opened 10 days ago (yes you read that right) and each meal has been progressively worse. They are understaffed behind the bar and management has had to step in every time we have been there to help prep drinks. You either have to wait 45 minutes for food or all it comes out at once. There is no coordination and no sequencing with the kitchen. Also the management team makes ZERO effort to get to know their local guests and actually are standoffish and arrogant every time we have been there. Not a great strategy if you want to succeed in Bedford FYI. Their drink menu is totally meh, and for some reason they have Miller Highlife on the beer menu, which is arguably one of the worst beers ever produced, and yet when I asked the management about it, they feel it is a badge of honor that signifies somehow a vibe or retro coolness. Ummm it doesn't. The intentionality of this bad decision calls into question many observations of this restaurant team. To start off their $32 cheeseburger is average at best and the three times that I ordered it, it came out cooked properly once and even then, it was just an average burger. The best advice I can give this management team is to rethink that hamburger. Make it the best burger in Westchester. If you're going to charge 32 bucks, it better be one of the best damn hamburgers anybody will ever eat and unfortunately this one is far from it. The roasted chicken is totally bland and uninspiring. The fried olives are terrible and for some reason, they pile a mound of chickpeas into their steak tartare? Chickpeas and steak tartare? Why? The taste is wrong, the texture is wrong, the combination is wrong. Their Hanger steak, French fries and the mushroom toast are excellent but everything else on the menu is a one and done disappointment. This menu is totally forgettable and considering the fare offered by competing restaurants in the area, if this place is going to make it, they need to up their food game in a big way otherwise there is absolutely no reason to return here aside from getting a drink at the bar. The good news is our local bakery Bread and Bakes is taking over the Barn downstairs for breakfast and lunch and they have a wonderful reputation in the area for delivering high-quality food and service. I really hope this place makes it and I really hope they realize they need to rethink their menu otherwise they're going to join the graveyard of other restaurants and restaurateurs who did not do their homework and thought they knew better than...
Read moreWent to this restaurant for brunch with my husband and son on Memorial Day. We were seated outside and were told by the seating host that our waiter would be with us shortly, however shortly turned into 20 minutes. We had to grab the seating hosts attention to remind her we still hadn’t had our order taken. About 5-7 mins later we had a waitress take our order. I ordered the lobster roll, which is the priciest item on the menu ($40.00)and my husband ordered the burger. When our food arrived one half of my brioche bun was burnt to a crisp. About half the bun was actually charred and black and yet the chef or whoever platted it still thought it was appropriate to serve. At this point I was very hungry but did not want to eat the lobster roll and the waiter who dropped off our food at the table quickly placed the food and left the table without saying a word so I had to grab a staff members attention to regarding the brioche bun. When I finally was able to get a staff member’s attention, I pointed to the brioche bun and the female staff member looked stunned that it was served on my plate. She agreed that my lobster roll needed to be taken back to the kitchen. Her direct words were”that’s unacceptable.” When I was given a new brioche bun it was again a little burnt but this time minimally only on the edge, but the bun was somehow cold overall . It was as though the bun had been placed in the toaster for seconds. The bun tasted out of a refrigerator. I was upset as part of the description for the lobster roll states “toasted buttery brioche bun”. The bun was dry. It did not taste or look buttery at all but I chose not to continue to complain because by this point I was starving and have never had to send back food twice in a row in any restaurant I’ve ever been to. In terms of taste, the lobster roll was good, but nothing spectacular and frankly didn’t feel worth the price because It was unsatisfying. My husband also felt his burger left much to be desired. He stated his burger was “just okay.” The staff in this restaurant was friendly, and the ambiance is nice however the lack of attention to checking in to place our order within the first 30 minutes, and the food issue left us incredibly disappointed. I would recommend this place for a possible glass of wine if you are willing to wait and don’t have plans afterwards however I would not recommend this place for a meal unless you enjoy waiting long...
Read moreTruly a distinctive fine dining experience. From the moment you approach the property, you are greeted with a magical backdrop of natural plantings, masonry stonework, and pergolas. The landscapes simply embraces you. There are a variety of outdoor places to sit including the fire pit area which offered comfortable seating under the trees and magical perennial gardens. As you enter the dining room, the host staff is genuinely pleased to see you. I always appreciate the personal attention! Lexi greeted our party by name and warmly walked us to our table. The dining room layout was well thought out and the decor provided for a very intimate setting. The stone fireplace will be incredibly inviting during the cold winter months and is a central focal point in the main dining room. The attentive wait staff engaged us almost immediately with smiles and energy. Our server, Catherine was very well-versed on the menu and spent time describing flavors and the menu options. During our entire seating, the staff insured we were comfortable and that our table was well organized and attended to for every course! Nick and Lucas were engaging and a true compliment to the dining experience. Our food was equally as impressive from beginning to end. We appreciated the variety and the selection for each of our unique pallets. I highly recommend every guest begin with a pop over. It brings back such wonderful memories of Maine, but it also creates the warm embrace of breaking bread with friends and family to start your dining experience. Each of our choices offered a well-balanced mix of flavors, distinctive tastes including one dish paired with a smoked chili yogurt sauce. It was impressive to see the unique seasonal pairings offered. For example, you must experience the burrata salad with heirloom tomatoes, watermelon slices and summer herbs with nasturtium. Another member of our party enjoyed the delicious salmon plate with peas, asparagus, and a gentle butter sauce. All of the flavors worked brilliantly together. We found the menu to offer a variety for all! The desserts did not disappoint. So much creativity in flavors and the wonderful presentation! Our party was also impressed with the beverage menu. Many classic drinks and some with twists, which only complemented the dining experience. The valet service was friendly and seamless. We are looking forward to...
