Positive aspects: Stayed at Home2 Suites in Brookhaven for just over a week, and overall this was a very good stay. We liked both the hotel and the area around the hotel itself. Here it was high class all over the place. Our room was a 'King Studio Suite' and was just fantastic. This is one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in on our travels in the US. The room was good size, well equipped with everything you need in terms of kitchen equipment etc. suitable for longer stays. Impressed by both the quality, the functionality and the good solutions in the room. The beds were also very comfortable. It simply seemed that they had thought of everything, or at least most of it, when it comes to the rooms (with just a few exceptions). Otherwise, the level of housekeeping in the room and in the hotel, area was very good. It looked clean and nice everywhere, and it smelled clean and fresh.
Improvement points: Maybe a little bit to go on when it comes to the general level of service, i.e. the perceived level of service in relation to the dialogue with the staff at the reception. For example, there was only one luggage rack in the room. When I politely inquired with the reception about whether they had an extra luggage rack (there should be one luggage rack per guest, as I see it), I was told that they did not have such, but that they should check it out and get back to me about it. However, I heard nothing. However, the biggest point of improvement at Home2Suites Brookhaven is the breakfast. The breakfast was very poor and did not keep up with the rest of the hotel. It was far below standard, in my opinion. What e.g. supposed to be some kind of a omelette tasted artificial and strange and I'm not sure if there were even any eggs in that omelette at all. I really hope that the hotel reconsiders the breakfast and improves the level of it.
All in all: But all in all, we had a wonderfully pleasant stay at this hotel and hope to be able to return here before too long. By the way, it will be interesting to see how the area around the hotel will be in terms of shops, restaurants etc. as the area seems to be...

I just stayed at this hotel for 3 nights.
At checkout, I requested a printout of my bill. The front desk told me they are unable to provide a printed bill, and that I could only received an email bill after I had left the hotel and they checked me out. This is how they SCAM you!
After I arrived at the local airport, I received the email bill with a room charge for beer - despite the fact that I did not make one single room charge for anything!
I immediately called the front desk and was assured that the charge would be immediately removed and that I would receive an email reflecting the credit. After waiting over an hour and not receiving any credit or email, I called the corporate Hilton number to dispute the charge, who in turn called the hotel directly. In a 180 degree turn about, the hotel informed corporate Hilton that they would not be refunding the fraudulent charge.
Corporate Hilton at this point offered me 1000 Hilton points which I refused based on principle alone. I was then given the option of having the issue escalated to the hotel management which would take 48-72 hours or have a check sent from corporate Hilton in 30-45 days. Not wanting anything to do with this fraudulent hotel, I decided I would rather wait a month for a check in the mail than to deal another moment with this hotel.
For completeness of my hotel review otherwise:
The room was nice and clean, bed was comfortable. Breakfast is pretty poor (microwaved eggs) - only had breakfast once and settled for the generic self made waffle and cereal. If you want your room cleaned, you have to make sure your do not disturb sign is not on the door at 8am (which is supposedly when they do a walk around and schedule the rooms for cleaning) - a weird setup that I never encountered at...
Read moreLong Island seems to be very limited when it comes to good hotels. When I lived here I never noticed but now coming back to visit it makes the trip difficult. We had originally booked a different hotel which, when we checked in, we realized was a dump and immediately started looking for something else. This hotel is farther east then we wanted to be but everywhere was booked up so we gave it a shot and honestly we have no regrets.
It's currently less than 2 year old and everything still feels brand new. Very clean, the area feels safe (including the parking lot!) and it's just a nice hotel overall. The room feels big and open, the kitchen area has an apartment size fridge. They have hot plates you can get from the front desk if you want something more than microwave food. Lots of open shelves and counter space to put your things as well as drawers, cabinets, and a closet. The shower head and water pressure are great. I guess my only complaint would be that the curtain for diving the room is too thin, blackout curtains would give better separation...but that's just my opinion.
There isn't a restaurant (I'm not sure if that's common around here or not) and breakfast is the standard "meh" hotel breakfast but Covid restrictions were just lifted so i don't know that we got the standard experience.
The whole area is fairly new, there are nice looking apartments across the way and there's a buidling currently being built but we haven't heard any construction noise. The new building is going to be a super Walmart and that's a good thing because you do not want to have to go to the Middle Island Walmart, I think it may be the worst on the Island.
I will definitely stay here when we visit...
