I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience at Charles Cheesesteak inside the Yaphank Supercenter Walmart was so appalling that I feel obligated to warn others. If you’re considering grabbing a bite here—don’t. Save yourself the disappointment, frustration, and stomach ache.
First, let’s talk about service—or lack thereof. The staff was shockingly rude and inattentive, as if they were annoyed that I dared to interrupt their day by ordering food. No smiles, no courtesy, and certainly no sense of urgency. I waited nearly 20 minutes for my food, despite the place being almost empty. Even worse, they got my order wrong! When I politely pointed it out, I was met with an attitude and absolutely no apology.
Next, the food quality was beyond disappointing. The cheesesteak was an insult to anyone who’s ever had a decent sandwich. The bread was stale, the meat was dry and flavorless, and the cheese was barely there—just a sad smear of something processed. The toppings were either rubbery or wilted and unappetizing. To make things worse, the fries were cold, soggy, and drenched in grease, as if they’d been sitting under a heat lamp for hours.
But it doesn’t end there. They will charge you for sauce they don’t even have. That’s right—I paid for extra sauce only to be told they didn’t actually have any. No refund, no acknowledgment, just another excuse to rip you off. And if you’re thinking a soda might wash it all down, think again—the soda machine is so watered down that the drinks taste like carbonated tap water with a hint of flavoring.
The cleanliness of the establishment was another level of horrifying. The counters were sticky, the tables were dirty, and the floor was covered in crumbs and trash. Even the soda machine looked disgusting, with sticky residue all over the nozzles. If the front of the house looks like this, I can’t imagine what’s happening in the kitchen.
On top of all this, the prices are outrageous for the garbage they’re serving. Over $10 for a meal I couldn’t even finish because it was that bad? It felt like daylight robbery.
This place is an abomination of a restaurant and a disgrace to the name of cheesesteaks everywhere. The owners should be ashamed, and Walmart should seriously reconsider letting them operate inside their store. If you care about good food, decent service, or even basic hygiene, avoid this place at all costs. You’ll...
Read moreI never tried Charley’s before so I wanted to give it a go since I didn’t feel like going out my way to TJ hero’s which is my preferred spot for Philly cheesesteaks! (Hint hint go there lady’s and gent will never be dissatisfied or disappointed) To continue with the Charley's review The service and atmosphere was okay/good I got a chocolate milkshake 10/10! Cheddar bacon fries regular 7/10! (The size was huge for a regular couldn’t imagine what a large would look like) And finally Large Philly cheesesteak no mushrooms 1.5/10! The associate asked me about mayo tomato lettuce and I’m just confused because I never was given options or knew a Philly steak had that? So i just say just a regular Philly with no mushrooms just give me everything that normally comes on a Philly please And so I got the Philly and it had lettuce and mayo on it and I’m like alright let’s try! It wasn’t the best I’m not even sure how to rank it after eating from an authentic place sigh Personally to me the Philly sandwich did not live up to my expectations/standards as I am a Philly lover girl but I’ve heard other people liked it but to each there own everyone’s different this was just my personal opinion. The bread just isn’t good tastes like McDonald’s buns and the mayonnaise just throws it off and the Philly is dry dry. I spent 23$ for...
Read moreThis one will blow your mind!! I paid with a credit card, and the cashier reached over to push the tip button on the screen. I'm not sure what his name is, but it starts with a B. He isn't very friendly either. He speaks perfectly good English, so don't let them fool you. Walmart should be ashamed to have this place inside of their store. The food is way overpriced. $15 for a small 6-inch original cheese steak, which is just meat and cheese sauce with minimal onion... and a large fry. The food is ok but nothing worth the price. I was the only one there, so the order was somewhat quick. But they were out of the sandwich I wanted, so I went with something else. This happened at 10:45 am on Saturday the 29th of June. Management should look into this shady individual and maybe do something about it. Come on man....
