We were pretty satisfied upon arrival regarding setup and the room amenities... until we checked the sleeper sofa where our child was to sleep. When you advertise a sleeper sofa you would assume that it would also be clean and ready for a guest to sleep on...especially when you list the number of guests residing in the rental. That was not the case at all. We actually purchased an air mattress for our daughter to sleep on.
Once you find one thing, you begin to scrutinize everything else. There were hairs on the sink from the last guest shaving. The shower floor appeared to be dirty. The shower also made a high pitched wailing sound that woke my sleeping husband in the morning. The floor of the entire rental felt sticky and we remained with our shoes on until getting into bed. You could hear your shoes detach with each step you took. Remained in flip flops for our showers as well. The fireplace also did not work(I have a video showing their directions and me attempting to follow them).
The rooms themselves are very hollow and you can hear every noise that the neighbors on either side of you make. We were attempting to put our child to bed when the neighbors returned. You can hear them flip their light switches on and hear their conversation clearly.
I had definitly had higher expectations-certainly as far as cleanliness- from a facility with only 3 units at $160/night. I wish there was an option to include photos in this review.. We won't be returning...
Read moreWe cannot cancel reservations during the "Generational Blizzard" we just had. I called within a week, which is against policy. I was told it was sunny and clear in Eden meanwhile; we were 12 deaths deep in Erie county at the time caused by this blizzard. Also, the weather there is irrelevant; no one is traveling from Eden to your motel in Eden. I couldn't tell if that was ignorance or rationalizing greed. Meanwhile, we were 4 days into a countywide travel ban. So it would be illegal to drive to the "Inn." The travel ban that was lifted in Eden 4 hrs before check-in, Irrelevant as travel bans were still in effect in towns north and west of Eden. Still illegal to drive, not to mention dangerous. Let's remember the I90 has been closed, so how do travelers get there? I was asked to let them know by Saturday if I planned to cancel so they could rebook it. No refund, rebook, in other words, take another person's money who would have to drive to their "Inn" illegally. At the time I am writing this, cars and bodies are still being dug out in towns and the Thruway. But the lady on the phone assured me it was clear in Eden and didn't see why the need to cancel. Greedy or simple, I'm not sure. Many took advantage of the blizzard for profit this week. Add "The Fields of Eden Inn"...
Read moreThank you for all of the positive reviews. We are very appreciative of your feedback. One of my reviewers expressed their concern about the removal of trees along the back of the property. The trees were old and unfortunately had never been cared for. The wind that prevails through town routinely decimated the tree branches and littered the entire area. I worked with the Eden Historical Society who owns the back section of the property to have the trees removed. The grounds were completely renovated and Gullo's Garden Center professionally installed a mixture of 10 new trees. In just a few years, the trees will be fully grown. From this point forward, they will be properly maintained and will be a garden center in which our guests will be able to relax and enjoy their surroundings. Change is difficult for some, but long term improvement was our best option. I hope that all of our guests will be able to enjoy this tranquil spot...
