I was very disappointed on my 1st & last trip with this company. I would definitely NOT recommend using this company for your rafting trip ever. We rented 2 rafts for our adult party of 7. Based on the stature of of the members in our party & knowing the fluctuation of the water on the river someone with 47 years of experience may have suggested we take 3 rafts based on WEIGHT distribution alone. I’m sure 2 rafts would be sufficient for a party of 12 that weighted a total of 500lb. I can only speculate that the weight limitations have more to do with the floating of the raft than the number of individuals in the raft. our rafts tethered together at the begin of our trip & at no time were we instructed to detach. Which we did further down.I mention these points because you will read the owners response to the previous negative reviews that the number of rafts we had were sufficient but never once mentions a weight limit for the rafts. Or an explanation as to why we were not instructed not to tether our rafts. During our verbal instruction it was reiterated to us to stay to LEFT after the Bridge and again at the V. At NO TIME did anyone suggest we stay to the right for a better flow based on water conditions. When asked if we had any questions and if we understood the instruction I stated to the young man I got stay to left after the bridge and then keep staying to left. The response I received was YES always stay to the left. Signage there were 2 signs at the Eel Weir that stated stay to the left. NO other signage. My party and I followed our verbal instruction & stayed to left. The water was no deeper than 6-14in along that path that we were instructed to go. The raft I was in had 3 adults we could not float even part way without all existing. Our other party of 4 also had to exit their raft a number of times to maneuver the extremely shallow waters. I do understand river fluctuation & understood I may have to exit the raft at one point or another to maneuver the river. The party of 4 finally gave up at the first landing they saw called for pick up stating they couldn’t make it to the final destination. My party of 3 also called by the time we reached the 2nd landing as we didn’t have cell service at the 1st landing, the same reason. My estimation dragging the raft through the river on slipper rocks to get to the second landing took us approx an hour if not longer which further delayed us. The raft did float freely without any weight at that point. If we were instructed to go to right after the eel weir we would have reached our landing point on time without delay. Now cold, sore & exhausted we waited to be picked up. Upon our pick up we waited in the van for approx 20 minutes. The driver drove us back was doing approximately 60mph putting us all in danger. Our other party also picked up expressing the rudeness of their driver. We were delayed by shallow waters, pulling a raft over slippery rocks & poor instruction. To add insult to injury we were then charged a ridiculous late fee. The justification given was there were many other people on the river that launched at the same time reached the destination on time. I arrived about 45 min. Prior to the rest of my party & only witnessed 2 other couples check in & only 1 other couple go out on the river. If I had to render a guess the couple that I saw depart on the raft prior to us had a total weight together of maybe 200lbs. I don’t know where the all other rafters on the river were I nor anyone in my party saw them. By far this was the worst customer service I have ever received and most unprofessional establishment I have ever encountered. I would definitely NOT recommend using this company for your...
Read moreTerrible Experience, will NEVER go back||||This place just wants your money and has that "well, you're sh*t out of luck" attitude.||||Besides their coin operated showers that smell like rotten eggs, their extremely close campgrounds and little dirt patches they call "roads" to separate the grounds. The lack of security and customer support was really the deal breaker.||||First of all, after checking in, reception just handed us a piece of paper and said goodbye. Had to circle around a couple of time before having to go back in and asked, "Hey, would you be able to give us a general direction of where we are going? It is our first time here" The lady then said, "it's across the street." OK, so we went across the street and drove around like idiots until we were lucky enough to run into someone from our group. She could have taken the extra 30 seconds to say, "It's across the street, second left, you should see the sign". Like wow, 2 minutes in and I can give better directions then the staff?||||I understand that noise is something that happens and is not really the camp ground's fault. However, I have stayed in multiple campsites around the area and they at least communicated and tried to accommodate their paying customers.||||The situation: A near by campground was basically throwing their own festival with music so loud it was shaking our tents until about 5am all weekend. We complained after the first night to security, and by security I mean the one time someone drove around in a golf cart all weekend. He said he would talk to the other campground's security, and of course no where to be found after that one sighting. The second night was even worse, they were not only throwing their own festival but decided to have their own firework show at 2,3 and 4am.||||My issue with Indian Head Canoe: Their "security" was absolutely no where to be found. I was at Kittatiny last year (down the road) and they at least had a security guard patrolling periodically throughout the night. They also gave us a number to call and told us what to say if there were any issues. Like, what if there was an actual problem? We had to take it upon ourselves to call the police.||||When we went to complain in the morning when trying to check out, it's like they had earmuffs on and said "the owner said there is nothing that can be done" not even an apology, not even a $50 credit (which is nothing in comparison to what was paid). I went back into the actual registration building and started complaining out loud while people were checking in and wow what a surprise! I got their attention. A manager came out and asked me to step outside, I wanted to stay inside so the following customers can hear what they are getting into, but it's not the managers fault so I didn't take it out on her.||||Bottom line, there are much better campsites within a couple miles. Do not support their business because they sure as heck don't care about their...
