The camp site was as expected. Based on just the camp site, I would return, however we also scheduled a rafting trip that was horrible.
For the rafting trip, I arrived to the camp store to check in 45 minutes early. The line was very long and disorganized. I got to the front of the line after about 40 minutes, only to be told that I had to bring out waivers to my entire group for everyone to sign, then wait on line again. There were no signs saying that I needed waivers before heading on the line, or I would have done that first, rather than having to wait on the same line twice. They should have been handing out waivers to people in line to fill out before they got to the front. This happened to group after group after group and none of the workers thought to start telling people to fill out waivers before getting to the front. It should not have taken that long to check in, given we pre-paid.
After finally getting checked in, we walked to the launch point, where I handed a young man my check in sheet. This is when an older man came over, pointed at 4 members of our group (two women) and said, "Since you guys are bigger, you need to use the red life jackets." This was completely unacceptable, and could have been handled a different way, rather than being pointed out for being larger. He could have easily said "Blue life jackets are small/medium and red are large/XL." People know what size they are. There is no reason to point out individual people in front of others for their size.
After the gentleman did that, we were told to go get paddles and head down to get a raft. When we headed down to the raft, we were told that we needed a safety brief. We went back up to get a safety brief. We went back down to the raft and were told they never got our paper that we handed in when we first got there. We were sent up and down THREE times due to their disorganization. As we were waiting for them to figure out where our check in sheet went. we could hear the workers talking smack about our group and "just wanting to get rid of us". It is not our fault there was no organization or clear instruction on what to do. More than half of our group works in retail and customer service and were being very respectful to the workers. It was completely uncalled for for them to treat us like we were the problem. Eventually, two workers apologized and helped us get into the raft and into the water. The icing on the cake was after we were already in the water floating down the river, a worker yelled to us and asked if we handed them our paper, which we already went through three times and it was their own workers that helped us into the water. GET ORGANIZED. What was once our favorite part of our annual camping trip had an awful start, with some members of our group in tears for being individually called out for their body. We wound up leaving the camp ground a day early and are likely not going to...
Read moreMy family and I have been coming to Kittatinny K-Camp for 15 years. It was our favorite tradition each summer. I donât usually write reviews, but felt the need to warn future campers. Unfortunately, this year will be our last year because of how we were treated by the majority of the people who work for them. The staff used to be wonderful, but many out of the new group of people working there are disrespectful and have a lack knowledge of the campground and the new system theyâre using. I tried to cancel 2 of our group of campsites and was told it would be without fees (except a $25 one which I accepted). There was a $150 âcancellation feeâ and $120 âextra peopleâ fee even though we were well below the limit of people those campsites allow. The campsite itself only cost $30 more than these fees they tried to charge me. Nobody could clearly explain the charges when I called back after seeing them added on. There were many phone calls and messages back and forth about the extra fees. The âmanagerâ I had spoken with through their 800 number had no knowledge of the fees and system being used (I could hear him asking other workers when I questioned him about the new fees). He was also extremely disrespectful to me when I said we were going to have to look for a new campground next year because of how dismissive they are to our needs and questions. Luckily, the new corporate company theyâre owned under was able to take care of the fees that I was being charged just three days before our arrival, though it took numerous calls and messages to get anyone to take care of it. Upon arrival, we were greeted with not enough garbage bags or wristbands for the amount of people and campsites we booked (an honest mistake, just frustrating that we had to take care of it). Throughout the weekend, the bathrooms became increasingly disgusting and were clearly unkempt, with feces on the tops of seats, urine on the floor, as well as no toilet paper to be found in any stall for at least 2/3 of our stay. The menâs room was apparently not much better. Our favorite part about going to Kittatinny is the fun rafting experience we have. This did not disappoint, however, the manager at the raft drop-off point- Pond Eddy spoke to his workers with such disrespect. They were doing a wonderful job, so it seemed he just had a chip on his shoulder in his position. Overall, my family and I are so very disappointed with the changes at Kittatinny as well as the way we were treated and will be looking into new places to find the great, fun, wholesome experience we USED to get from Kittatinny...
Read moreBeen coming here since I was a teen which was many years ago (20+). Although they have made some improvements over the years, this past month we gathered up some friends and returned. This visit prompted me to write a review because the campground was ridiculous; the roads were full of huge potholes, the garbage bins didn't have bags, some grass areas around the sites were not mowed, etc. I realize our visit was towards the tail end of their season, but if you have people staying on those sites, at least make sure the area doesn't have half a foot of grass! We also paid a lock in fee of $25 for our sites which guaranteed our site location/number. However, we were moved without any previous notification to another site that was subpar to the ones we initially selected. The staff simply put us at some random sites next to porta potties. It was unacceptable so they gave us a list of very limited sites to select from. Wasted over an hour driving around to random sites till we found comparable ones that we initially selected - it was slow because of the Toyota sized potholes. These are camp sites not some hotel/resort where the rooms are mostly the same, so do not be switching sites without advance notice, but also charge us for a lock in fee which you never upheld. You took the reservation but never held on to the reservation. The only success criteria here is to hold on to the reservation that your customers booked and paid for. We never got a refund for the lock in fee that was mentioned by the way. I also noticed your security guard is no longer there; there's a booth but no one was ever there. Finally, we are now in 2024 approaching 2025, please have at a least a decent WIFI accessibility for emergencies (family, medical, security, etc). The only WIFI is by the general store where people check-in, but you have to drive/walk to its vicinity. The speed/bandwidth was horrible and slow as molasses - and there weren't many people there so I would hate to imagine peak season when everyone has to share that bandwidth. There's zero cellular coverage so you all really need to improve on this. At least upgrade your system for emergency services, there are internet providers like Starlink (via satellite) that provides fast internet coverage that's pretty affordable for a business your size. Remember that it's mostly people like me (suburb/metro) that goes camping for the great outdoors so we would appreciate internet access for mentioned reasons....
