This Hotel is great location in between both Lake George and Schroon Lake.||Room: I was pleasantly surprised to have a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker as these weren’t listed in amenities. My room was 103, ground floor second room closest to lobby. The beds are spring mattress but comfortable, the shower had lots of old patch jobs the least pleasant place in the room, but it had a hairdryer and changeable showerhead so that was nice.||There are no closets! Next to the AC there is a rack on the wall with some hangers, below you can place your suitcase there next to the safe. There was a dresser with three drawers.||Food: in the room there was a table and two chairs, you can have breakfast in your room. Outside of room they have an ice machine, and a drink vending machine that accepts cards. there is a 24 hour unlimited coffee and tea bar, hot water for tea or hot chocolate. There was an array of tea (red raspberry, green, and Lipton) and coffee creamer included half and half, coffee mate hazelnut, and French vanilla creamer. Coffee was delicious and hot. Decaf coffee was available in the morning for breakfast (6am-9:00am) ||Breakfast: The breakfast was continental, it was great, better than some of the reviews listed. They had Coffee, OJ, Tea, hot Chocolate, instant oatmeal(plain and cinnamon), yogurt, fruit cups, english muffins, Jiffy peanut butter, strawberry, and grape jelly packets. Individually wrapped muffins that were big. (Banana nut, blueberry, cheese danish flavors each on different days) really good with the coffee. No other food onsite. 9/10||Pets: Dogs are allowed, you’ll be placed in a non carpeted room, *Keep in mind! unfortunately there were people who did not keep their dog on a leash. So just be careful when walking in. I came in with my infant in a stroller and a man was walking and right behind him was a big black dog, unleashed, and the owner quickly called it to stay near him and I heard him say to his wife “ I was scared there for a second”….Not cool, *so just keep your eyes open when walking in for those people who think they’re at their house with unleashed dogs.||Also! Since we were on the first floor, we left our curtain open at night and there was someone walking their dog at the grass late at night with a flash light. Right outside our window, it scared us a bit, They could’ve walked their dog in front of the hotel with other grass available, but hey…common sense isn’t always common and once a creeper always a creeper 👀. |For that reason…safety wise we felt 6/10||The hotel didn’t smell like dogs and I couldn’t hear any barking. 10/10||Overall: solid 8/10 great location, quiet for sleeping, free WiFi, great continental breakfast, and a perfect spot for being close to Lake George and Schroon Lake. I heard hotel may close to be a Starbucks, I hope that’s not the case as this was a great stay. I would definitely come back again.||P.S If you’re looking for food nearby:|Tommy Guns Pizza: Pizza was delicious, they offer entrees and sandwiches as well as other food options ||New Way Diner: great sit down breakfast/lunch spot. (McDonald’s, Dunkin across hotel for on the go)||Bandstand Brew works: if your looking for a great place for a drink and food...
Read moreI am a frequent traveler on a budget, nearly always traveling with my Chocolate Lab.
I really wish there was a way to give this place negative stars. and honestly, I wish I was spending the night in my car, because this visit has been so terribly unpleasant. However, since I booked this through Travelocity, I was not allowed to get refund and leave the motel. Not only that, but I wasn't even allowed guest award points for this horrible stay.
This deeply unpleasant place -- my first and surely my last time staying here -- started when I was charged a $16 pet fee that was not presented to me on the website when I book the reservation. That's always upsetting to me, because I never leave a motel room any worse off because my dog has accompany me.
But the real source of this horrible experience was the desk clerk. She sensed I was upset about pet fee, and after that started to treat me horribly. First, it took her more than 20 minutes to check me in, whining that I had announced my pet beforehand (there was no place to do that on the website).
Getting into the room, I found that the wireless internet was not working. When I complain about that, she told me I should try to connect to it in the tiny lobby. When I told her that made no sense -- I wanted the internet connection in my room-- she said she would come down and fix it ... and then began complaining the entire time, saying "I'm not a IT technician."
She said she fixed it, but the internet has been down ever since. In fact, I'm here typing this review on my smartphone because I have no wireless internet for my laptop.
I then went back out to get some dinner, and as I walked out the door, the clerk begin scolding me for not having my aging dog on a leash just outside the front door. She then said she was going to call the general manager; when she begin doing so, I told her I wanted to talk to to that person... Whereupon, she hung up the phone.
The room itself was clean but very small and incredibly cold. The heat still has not kicked on yet. Ironically, two dogs in the room across from me a barking their head off the entire time. Meanwhile I'm still shivering cold, waiting for the heat to work.
I'm not sure if Super 8 trains desk clerks on how to treat newly arriving guests coming in tired from the road, but this woman should NEVER have been allowed behind the front desk. I called "Windham Customer Care" but wasn't allowed to check out and get my money back, or even my guest award points.
But my experience and my treatment here are symbolic of a motel industry that slowly but surely teaching guests just to stay away. At least I can leave this review and warn anyone reading this:. Don't EVER think to...
Read moreThe hotel was clean and cute like a log cabin atmosphere. Over all it was a clean . When arriving we were checked in by Shannon , she was courteous, friendly , and extremely helpful, we had never stayed in the area so we had quite a few questions . Although upon checkout . It was an extremely different and disappointing experience . We had used Expedia when booking 2 rooms . One room for 2 people the other room for 4. When my husband han. ded her the keys she gave him the receipts , we were all standing in the lobby together . When he handed them to me they had two different prices , I went back in to Jaunita who was standing at the front desk and politely said , I have a question in regards to our bill I said we just checked out we had the same rooms and there are two different prices as I laid the receipts on the counter . Jaunitas nasty reply was first of all who are you ,I don’t know who you are ( although I was literally standing in the lobby 45 seconds before ) . I said my name and said the receipts are right here in front of you ,!! She was arrogant , condescending and basically just a B&$(ch . I proceeded to tell her same room 2 people in each etc . She advised me the she could not give me a refund because Expedia charged my card . I advised her she was incorrect and said that Shannon charged my card upon arrival . She told me that I was wrong and told me I had to call Expedia , so I call Expedia who then advised me , the hotel has to give the refund as they were the ones that charged the card. . She was nasty and unpleasant to deal with . Jaunita obviously lacks at her adequacy to do her job with efficiency and courteousness and overall knowledge,as she wasted more of my time . I wound up calling back the hotel And getting Shannon ( the girl who checked me in ) and who was more then friendly and willing and eager to help me —— which justified my 5 star review . All I can say is if that were my establishment I WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT WANT SOMEONE WITH JAUNITAS LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OR PEOPLE SKILLS AT MY FRONT DESK “ So if you get to the desk and she Is there .... I suggest immediately asking for...
