Over the summer, my fiancé and my future in-laws were driving around the Finger Lakes Region looking at potential venues for our upcoming wedding in May 2025. We happened to spontaneously visit the Lodge as we were disheartened by some other venues we had looked at. ||Visiting the Lodge, we were immediately impressed with the amazing view of Seneca Lake, its picturesque landscape, and the quaint, quiet feel it gave. We ate a late lunch and albeit was delicious, it was also expensive for us. We asked our waiter if there was someone we could chat with regarding the Venue space and get to know the area. The Event Manager greeted us shortly after and took us on a tour of the grounds and was very detailed in her knowledge of the venue and what she would provide for us on our day. ||We left very impressed and after talking it over, we decided to proceed with the Lodge as our wedding venue. We were very excited to get the process started and plan our wedding. ||I immediately emailed the Event Manager the next evening asking to get the process started. She didn't respond for a few days, and I had to write a follow up email to which she responded to the next day. In my eyes, this was understandable since wedding season is in full swing and it can get busy. ||However, this trend continued throughout the summer, I would ask important questions that needed answers within a day or two maximum, but never got a response unless I followed up days later. ||My fiancé and my future in laws finally got the responses we needed by the end of August. We had some contract questions that we asked the Event Manager in person, and we were reassured that booking the Lodge would be a great place to get married, and we put in a deposit||About a month later, I reached out to the Event Manager via text message asking to book rooms and get a block set up for the wedding. I never received a response. ||A month after that, I emailed the Event Manager again regarding the rooms, and again never received a response, but this time, the email was immediately bounced back to me stating the email "no longer exists." ||After viewing the email bounce back, I called the Lodge's main phone number 3 times, and never got an answer, I left 3 messages and never got a phone call back. ||Finally, a couple weeks later, my fiancé and in-laws decided to drive up to the Lodge, finding it to be closed.||After getting in contact with the General Manager of the Lodge, we found out the Lodge is closed for the Winter. This information was never posted to their website, Facebook or detailed on their answering machine. We had no idea that the Lodge was closed during the winter. Google also mentions the restaurant, Sapalta, is open for business 5 days out of the week. ||At this point, my fiancé and I had lost faith that we would have a good experience with the Lodge for our wedding and decided to cancel our wedding at the Lodge. ||We also had come to find out that the Event Manager was evidently let go back in October of 2024. ||If this were indeed an organized establishment, I would expect an email or a phone call regarding the Event Manager being let go back in October, and to be instructed on who to contact going forward. Obviously, this did not happen. ||Overall, I am very disappointed with Plum Point Lodge. I was very much looking forward to getting married here but now have to pivot and figure out how to plan a wedding in 5 months. ||For those looking to get married here, I would not recommend it, there was a lot of stress being left unanswered and trying to actively plan a wedding. ...
Read moreWe stayed in the resort for a few days for a family vacation. Overall, the resort was nice. It is not a luxury hotel, but by design is a lake side resort with a camp-like feel. That being said, the rooms were very clean and comfortable and updated. It is at a very beautiful location, right on the lake. So it is perfect for sitting by the lake and having very nice lake views. However, the big negative about the resort is that although it is right on the lake, and has a small beach and dock, there is no swimming in the lake from this location. There is a sign saying no swimming. Also, while you can launch your own kayak (or other boat) from the resort if you own one, the resort itself does not have any such boats to use. Instead, you have to make arrangements with a local outside company to deliver rental boats to the resort. I looked into this, and while it was not a very expensive option - it is not the same as having the boats available from the resort. They set up a fire pit at night, which becomes a friendly gathering point for the guests, and some of the regular guests (some have been coming for years) welcomed us to join them. We brought our own Smores stuff which was fun. The restaurant at the resort is very good. However, it is not inexpensive. You get your money's worth, because the food and service was excellent - but at this price point, we chose to only eat at the restaurant one night. If it was not so expensive, we likely would have had at least another dinner at the resort. In terms of location, it is very close to many of the local wineries. So, if you are looking to spend most of your time at the wineries, the location is great. Otherwise, keep in mind that it is about 20 minutes to Watkins Glen, and so really getting anywhere for restaurants, etc., is always at least a 20 minute drive. But, within 20-30 minutes there are lots of options, including some excellent hiking options. We also took trips to the Corning glass museum and to a Zipline adventure tour at Bristol mountain - which were both really good. I recommend Trails End (don't let the outside deter you - the breakfast was delicious). And the Elephants Thai restaurant in Watkins Glen was very good (also the donut...
Read morePulling up to this Lodge it is beautiful, especially in the Fall. The view of the lake is incredible, and it is tucked into a hillside and just gorgeous. The location cannot be beat. Head north 25 minutes and you are in Geneva with plenty of wineries on the way. Head south and you can hit a dozen wineries and breweries on your way to Watins Glen. The location was perfect for us. Unfotunately, this doe not outweigh the lack of attention to details. ||First, I had requested a room on the end of the second floor while making my reservation. There was a map where you could basically pick you room. Our reservation was made months in advance, when we arrived, we were in a completely different location. Upon entering the room, we opened the rest of the blinds and there were spiderwebs, old ones, on the inside of several of the windows. I understand that the lake has spiders, but wasnt the room cleaned recently? In addition, there was a dusty space heater that we really would have like to use, but it was, honestly, kinda gross. The reason we wanted to use it is because the heater sounded like an airplane taking off every time it turned on and rattle to high heaven the entire time it ran. It seriously kept me awake both nights we were there. the fridge and freezer in the room were great, but a coffee maker would be nice so that you can make a cup and sit on your patio. The coffee in the lodge dining room was more like tea. Lastly, the hot water situation is terrible. It literally took 10 minutes to finally get hot water in the shower. ||Am I nitpicking? Maybe, but it is the lack of these little details that make small Lodges like this worth spending the money to stay at and return too. In addition, we were thinking of adding another night to our stay and I left two voicemails with no return call to confirm anything because it said the...
