We booked site 159 because it was so close to the pools. Which were not open, and they did not update the website til the day we checked in. We also got no email until after we arrived. It looked like one might have been working but the other was green and clearly hadn’t been working for a while. By the time we left the one with the waterslide was also green and gross. They eventually put up a waterslide during the 4th of July week but the water got dirty really quick so my kids didn’t want to go on it. They make you buy wood at the campground, you can’t even buy wood from in town, which would have been fine if their wood wasn’t double the price of all the others around. most places we drove by were $5 a bundle, at the camp it is $10 a bundle. In Maine we have the law of not bringing in wood from somewhere else, but I’ve never been to a campground that required to you get it from them. The cabin was clean but needed work. The screen on the porch was falling and on the door the screen was duct taped on, could at least try using staples maybe? The pots and pans were gross, we had to drive to the dollar general in Schroon to buy some. We were also told there was cable and internet. There was barely anyone there when we got there, so that’s not an excuse for the internet not working. It just doesn’t work, which honestly didn’t bug us that much as our cell phones had fine reception. The cable was annoying/a problem. Most days were nice which was great but for the couple rainy days a movie or some cartoons would have been great, but it never worked. The store was run by one person (she was lovely and kind) and the hours were wonky, if you didn’t get firewood by 4 you weren’t getting it (thankfully our first night she was there a little later and let us get some as we had originally planned to grab some after we dropped everything at the cabin). The river was their only saving grace. But they can’t even tell you you’re allowed to go in. They can’t tell you not to either because it’s public water but there is a sign that says no bathing/swimming. I’m assuming that’s a liability thing but thank god for that river because the 90 degree days were brutal without a pool. This was our first time there (and at any spacious skies campground) and we stayed for two weeks. In closing, the amenities were pretty much a lie, the cabin was clean but bring your own pots and pans, the river is lovely, and you need to overspend on their firewood. I had emailed them about some of this and they offered one free bundle of firewood and 10% off which is a bit silly as you can get that discount pretty much anytime from their fliers. Their front desk lady was nice, albeit a bit overwhelmed I think, they at least got more staff the 4th of July week, so hopefully she got a bit of a break.

I have mixed feelings about our stay at spacious skies. We stayed this past week while hurricane Beryl came barreling through the Adirondack region. Our site was along the river that was a very quiet and slow creek when we first arrived. Throughout the night rain and thunder picked up and creek turned into a roaring river that was flooding our sites. There was no communication from the campground on this threat to us. And we had to take the initiative to get the campground to take action. This resulted in us chaotically running around to pack up our campers and get to another dry campsite. Our group of three campers were luckier than some of the seasonal campers that were not able to get their camper out on time. You cannot control Mother Nature but you can have emergency plans in place, and the only entrance/exit was flooded. I highly recommended creating a sufficient emergency plan and higher ground emergency exit. The lack of exit and amount of flooding created a rather stressful environment. The pool was closed the entire time we were there, seemed like the campground was very unsure when it would be opening again, they brought in a blow up water slide which was a good idea. I had reach out to spacious skies customer service using multiple different communications methods (called, emailed, Facebook messenger) prior to our trip about the pool and site information and no one seemed to have answers to my questions, which were fairly easy question.(update on the pool and whether our sites were full hook up) We made the best of our trip and the situation, the bathrooms were very clean and the camp store had most things that you would need. My dogs enjoyed multiple visits a day to the dog park. We ended up having full hook up sites that we did not expect. Location is great it is just under an hour from Lake Placid and Lake George. This camp ground has a lot of potential but certainly needs some love.

Hi Everyone... My family and I ( 22 ) of us stood at the campground on 7/31/25 till 8/4.. we cheated.. haha I rented the zodiac as I am older and sick.. the kids and grandkids rented cabins my son a RV site but just had his truck. We had a fantastic time.. No complaints at all.. The only thing I would add too is the game room.. I would add more games.. pinball and board games.. but thats something that I look to do and the kids like to play. many parents don't want that due to the high costs.. but the board games would have been fun..maybe some books.. coloring.. just some more stuff for the littles to play with.. everything else was so much fun.. they have little peddle cars .. mini golf.. the river which i wish it was moving more.. but there are many little beach like areas that they can play in. .. activities.. a jumping pillow which was the hit of the playground for all of them.. great sites.. The zodiac although yes costly if you share it not so bad.. Since I am sick I needed a cabin and being grandma of 15 grandkids my place is always where everyone is.. And I learned early on when it rains we need somewhere to go.. It did not rain but the kids all still gathered there and we had fires every night.. The house was perfect.. 4 bedrooms.. 2 baths.. had everything u needed but i still overpacked just in case but u did not need to. they had everything stocked.. nothing to do with the campground but stewerts is a good ride away and the one gas station right outside the campground closes early.. so get anything u need b4 hand.. Normally we do all the activities but this trip they went hiking and swimming fishing.. we did do star gazing.. it was fun.. and Many year round sites.. river sites. wooded sites.. overall a great place and I do recommend it if looking for a place to stay.. I took over 1000 pictures.. haha so that should say it all.. TY Spacious Skies we had a great time..

My husband and I, along with our two dogs, stayed here from August 7-10, 2024. We rented a deluxe cabin that "Sleeps 8". We were assigned cabin #91, Sagittarius. Let me say a had a negative impression right from the get-go for the following reason. Check-in time is 3pm for cabins. We arrived at 3:15pm, after having been on the road for hours. Our cabin wasn't ready, in fact the cleaning people were apparently just getting started on it. The girl in the office asked if we could come back in about 15-20 min. We decided to drive over near the cabin so we'd know exactly when the cleaning person(s) were done - this turned out to be not until 4pm! So we had to wait 45 minutes to get in our cabin, a whole hour past check-in time. The girls in the office were friendly and thanked us for waiting but offered nothing to make up for it. Having worked in hospitality myself, I understand that this sort of thing can happen. Regardless, a simple gesture such as a free ice cream cone, or something like that, would have gone a long way to make a favorable impression. Upon entering the cabin, I continued to be unimpressed. The wood floor was "broom clean". I use this term because there wasn't any crumbs, dirt, etc "all over". However, in the corners and along the edges where the floor meets the wall was dirt - just plain old dirt from outside. A quick vacuum would have removed this. Secondly, the wood floor had clearly never actually been cleaned - as in mopped or scrubbed - simply swept...for years...and years. There was an obvious build up of dirt and grime. If you walk on it barefoot or in socks they will be black. As other reviews have mentioned, the cover on the mattress was upside down. I assumed this was because the right side was dirty. I chose not to look as I feared I would find what the other reviews mentioned and be grossed out. The bathroom in the cabin was clean, the hot water was very hot in the shower and had great water pressure. The kitchen did have dishes, utensils, etc as described but some of the items were dirty and had to be cleaned before using. Some of the other reviews claim the website has false advertising. Based on our experience, and from a strictly technical standpoint, I would say it is misleading rather than outright false. For example, our cabin size was listed as "Sleeps 8". Technically, that is true. Half the cabin is sleeping area, and there are in fact 8 places to sleep. However, the cabin is very tiny, 8 people will fit in the cabin only if you are all in bed! There is a small table with only 3 chairs. If 8 people try to be in the non-sleeping-area half of the cabin at the same time, you MIGHT fit if all are standing and uncomfortably close. We were two adults and two dogs and it wouldn't have worked with any more bodies in there. If you plan on being outdoors all day (and don't get rained out) and only use the cabin for sleeping, it may work for 8. Plus, I don't know how you're gonna get those 8 people there. It states there is parking but there is barely enough room for an average size car. If you have a vehicle big enough to fit 8 people you will not have room to park it, nor is there room for two cars. The description states there is WIFI. Again, technically there is, but it is spotty and repeatedly disconnects. The description states there is cable TV. Technically, it is satellite TV. First problem: The TV is on the wall above the refrigerator - this means you must have your arm way up in the air in order for the remote to communicate with the TV (at least this is the setup in cabin 91, I can't speak to any others). Also, this means your head is tilted way up in order to watch TV, leading to a stiff neck pretty quickly. Second problem: There are only about a dozen channels, and of those, several were so gray with static that you couldn't even tell what the show was. The others were watchable but still had all kinds of lines across them. All in all, this served the purpose but I probably wouldn't stay here again. I felt it was very expensive for what you get.||A few side notes that may be helpful: 1. The photos on the website show the beds in the cabins made up using their linen package, which costs extra. You do need to bring your own bedding as explained in the description. 2. The ground seemed to be very sandy, not just in the campground, but the whole of North Hudson and vicinity. It was impossible not to track sand into our cabin. Not too big a deal in a cabin, it can be swept up. I mention this in case you are planning on tenting. You absolutely will end up with sand in your tent. We almost always tent when we are camping and personally, I would never tent at this campground for this reason. 3. The campground spaces are very close together. Doesn't matter if it is a cabin, RV space, tent space - you are practically on top of each other. Some people like to camp in this type of environment, and if that is you, this campground may be right up your alley. However, I am not one of those people. That is another reason I would probably not stay here again. This is totally a personal preference of course, but something to be aware of in case it...

We recently completed a five night stay in one of the cabins in Jellystone North Hudson. We've been doing a "camping" (camping in quotes because we're in a cabin with a bathroom; not in a tent or anything remotely approaching roughing it) trip in the Adirondacks with three other families for the last few years; up until this year we'd been staying at the Old Forge Camping Resort in Old Forge, NY.

First, the positives: The location, in general, is a positive, as long as you don't mind driving 30 to 45 minutes someplace. I'm not being sarcastic; North Hudson has absolutely nothing in it, but 45 minutes south on Route 87 is Lake George, 35 minutes south east is Ticonderoga, Vermont and Lake Champlain are about 45 minutes east, and Lake Placid is 45 minutes north west. So, while there's almost nothing within 10 minutes, a reasonably short drive takes you to a number of great towns, high peaks, lakes, etc. The site has some nice amenities for people with families; there are two swimming pools that are well taken care of, including a couple of water slides, a bouncing pillow, a playground for little kids and a bigger one for bigger kids. There are basketball hoops, and they have some guided arts and crafts and activities that the kids enjoyed. Cabins (at least the ones we were in, which were called "Cindy") come with a nearly full sized refrigerator/freezer, a toaster, a selection of utensils, a coffee maker (we don't drink coffee, so no idea if it was a good one or not), various pots and pans, a small range, a charcoal grill, a fire pit, and a nice sized picnic table. We chose to use our own plates and bowls, but those were provided as well. The site has WiFi. We avoided using it because wanted to enjoy being away, but it's nice for a quick email check. Coverage was good, speeds were poor, but it's a camp site. Enjoy nature.

Now, for the negatives: Firewood is not gold, but they treat it like it is. Listen, I understand that the threat of foreign pests brought into ADK park is a big problem, and you need to discourage people bringing wood from other parts of the state and country, but the going rate for firewood in the area seemed to average $4 (we saw it as low as $2 and as high as $5 on the road for a large bundle. The site, however, required all wood be purchased at the camp store. It was bagged and delivered to the site. The bag was unnecessary waste, delivery is nice but also unnecessary, but the biggest problem was the cost...$8.50 per bundle, and some of our bundles had four nice sized logs in them. $2+ per log is absurd. The cabins don't compare with the ones in Old Forge. I honestly feel had I never been to Old Forge I would have been happier with the cabin, but being able to make the comparison made it unfair. The kitchen area of the cabin was so small we barely had counter-space to hold our toothbrushes, soap, and a small power strip to charge phones/tablets. There is an extremely small table in the living/eating area, so small that one evening when it rained we sat on the floor to play a game instead of at the table because of how small it was. Hot water was sporadic in the bathroom, and there was no separate sink in the bathroom; only the one in the kitchen. The loft was fun for the kids, but lead to a few bumps on the head (really not a complaint on the loft). The two bunk beds had no rails on the top, so small kids prone to falling out of bed are a no-go in the top bunks. One day was rainy, the rest were hot and dry, but we felt damp the entire time in the cabin. The camp cafe (if you can call it that) was bad. The food was rough, and when I ordered food the guy taking the order didn't seem to know the menu at all. The reservation process didn't leave me feeling sure that what we were requesting was happening. Card charges happened late, calls weren't always returned, etc. It worked out, but wasn't a great experience.

I'd write more but I'm character limited. Long story short, nice location to lots of good places, but the camp...
