My husband and I, along with our two dogs, stayed here from August 7-10, 2024. We rented a deluxe cabin that "Sleeps 8". We were assigned cabin #91, Sagittarius. Let me say a had a negative impression right from the get-go for the following reason. Check-in time is 3pm for cabins. We arrived at 3:15pm, after having been on the road for hours. Our cabin wasn't ready, in fact the cleaning people were apparently just getting started on it. The girl in the office asked if we could come back in about 15-20 min. We decided to drive over near the cabin so we'd know exactly when the cleaning person(s) were done - this turned out to be not until 4pm! So we had to wait 45 minutes to get in our cabin, a whole hour past check-in time. The girls in the office were friendly and thanked us for waiting but offered nothing to make up for it. Having worked in hospitality myself, I understand that this sort of thing can happen. Regardless, a simple gesture such as a free ice cream cone, or something like that, would have gone a long way to make a favorable impression. Upon entering the cabin, I continued to be unimpressed. The wood floor was "broom clean". I use this term because there wasn't any crumbs, dirt, etc "all over". However, in the corners and along the edges where the floor meets the wall was dirt - just plain old dirt from outside. A quick vacuum would have removed this. Secondly, the wood floor had clearly never actually been cleaned - as in mopped or scrubbed - simply swept...for years...and years. There was an obvious build up of dirt and grime. If you walk on it barefoot or in socks they will be black. As other reviews have mentioned, the cover on the mattress was upside down. I assumed this was because the right side was dirty. I chose not to look as I feared I would find what the other reviews mentioned and be grossed out. The bathroom in the cabin was clean, the hot water was very hot in the shower and had great water pressure. The kitchen did have dishes, utensils, etc as described but some of the items were dirty and had to be cleaned before using. Some of the other reviews claim the website has false advertising. Based on our experience, and from a strictly technical standpoint, I would say it is misleading rather than outright false. For example, our cabin size was listed as "Sleeps 8". Technically, that is true. Half the cabin is sleeping area, and there are in fact 8 places to sleep. However, the cabin is very tiny, 8 people will fit in the cabin only if you are all in bed! There is a small table with only 3 chairs. If 8 people try to be in the non-sleeping-area half of the cabin at the same time, you MIGHT fit if all are standing and uncomfortably close. We were two adults and two dogs and it wouldn't have worked with any more bodies in there. If you plan on being outdoors all day (and don't get rained out) and only use the cabin for sleeping, it may work for 8. Plus, I don't know how you're gonna get those 8 people there. It states there is parking but there is barely enough room for an average size car. If you have a vehicle big enough to fit 8 people you will not have room to park it, nor is there room for two cars. The description states there is WIFI. Again, technically there is, but it is spotty and repeatedly disconnects. The description states there is cable TV. Technically, it is satellite TV. First problem: The TV is on the wall above the refrigerator - this means you must have your arm way up in the air in order for the remote to communicate with the TV (at least this is the setup in cabin 91, I can't speak to any others). Also, this means your head is tilted way up in order to watch TV, leading to a stiff neck pretty quickly. Second problem: There are only about a dozen channels, and of those, several were so gray with static that you couldn't even tell what the show was. The others were watchable but still had all kinds of lines across them. All in all, this served the purpose but I probably wouldn't stay here again. I felt it was very expensive for what you get.||A few side notes that may be helpful: 1. The photos on the website show the beds in the cabins made up using their linen package, which costs extra. You do need to bring your own bedding as explained in the description. 2. The ground seemed to be very sandy, not just in the campground, but the whole of North Hudson and vicinity. It was impossible not to track sand into our cabin. Not too big a deal in a cabin, it can be swept up. I mention this in case you are planning on tenting. You absolutely will end up with sand in your tent. We almost always tent when we are camping and personally, I would never tent at this campground for this reason. 3. The campground spaces are very close together. Doesn't matter if it is a cabin, RV space, tent space - you are practically on top of each other. Some people like to camp in this type of environment, and if that is you, this campground may be right up your alley. However, I am not one of those people. That is another reason I would probably not stay here again. This is totally a personal preference of course, but something to be aware of in case it...

Read moreWe recently completed a five night stay in one of the cabins in Jellystone North Hudson. We've been doing a "camping" (camping in quotes because we're in a cabin with a bathroom; not in a tent or anything remotely approaching roughing it) trip in the Adirondacks with three other families for the last few years; up until this year we'd been staying at the Old Forge Camping Resort in Old Forge, NY.
First, the positives: The location, in general, is a positive, as long as you don't mind driving 30 to 45 minutes someplace. I'm not being sarcastic; North Hudson has absolutely nothing in it, but 45 minutes south on Route 87 is Lake George, 35 minutes south east is Ticonderoga, Vermont and Lake Champlain are about 45 minutes east, and Lake Placid is 45 minutes north west. So, while there's almost nothing within 10 minutes, a reasonably short drive takes you to a number of great towns, high peaks, lakes, etc. The site has some nice amenities for people with families; there are two swimming pools that are well taken care of, including a couple of water slides, a bouncing pillow, a playground for little kids and a bigger one for bigger kids. There are basketball hoops, and they have some guided arts and crafts and activities that the kids enjoyed. Cabins (at least the ones we were in, which were called "Cindy") come with a nearly full sized refrigerator/freezer, a toaster, a selection of utensils, a coffee maker (we don't drink coffee, so no idea if it was a good one or not), various pots and pans, a small range, a charcoal grill, a fire pit, and a nice sized picnic table. We chose to use our own plates and bowls, but those were provided as well. The site has WiFi. We avoided using it because wanted to enjoy being away, but it's nice for a quick email check. Coverage was good, speeds were poor, but it's a camp site. Enjoy nature.
Now, for the negatives: Firewood is not gold, but they treat it like it is. Listen, I understand that the threat of foreign pests brought into ADK park is a big problem, and you need to discourage people bringing wood from other parts of the state and country, but the going rate for firewood in the area seemed to average $4 (we saw it as low as $2 and as high as $5 on the road for a large bundle. The site, however, required all wood be purchased at the camp store. It was bagged and delivered to the site. The bag was unnecessary waste, delivery is nice but also unnecessary, but the biggest problem was the cost...$8.50 per bundle, and some of our bundles had four nice sized logs in them. $2+ per log is absurd. The cabins don't compare with the ones in Old Forge. I honestly feel had I never been to Old Forge I would have been happier with the cabin, but being able to make the comparison made it unfair. The kitchen area of the cabin was so small we barely had counter-space to hold our toothbrushes, soap, and a small power strip to charge phones/tablets. There is an extremely small table in the living/eating area, so small that one evening when it rained we sat on the floor to play a game instead of at the table because of how small it was. Hot water was sporadic in the bathroom, and there was no separate sink in the bathroom; only the one in the kitchen. The loft was fun for the kids, but lead to a few bumps on the head (really not a complaint on the loft). The two bunk beds had no rails on the top, so small kids prone to falling out of bed are a no-go in the top bunks. One day was rainy, the rest were hot and dry, but we felt damp the entire time in the cabin. The camp cafe (if you can call it that) was bad. The food was rough, and when I ordered food the guy taking the order didn't seem to know the menu at all. The reservation process didn't leave me feeling sure that what we were requesting was happening. Card charges happened late, calls weren't always returned, etc. It worked out, but wasn't a great experience.
I'd write more but I'm character limited. Long story short, nice location to lots of good places, but the camp...
