So, I want to preface by saying I don't expect a lot when staying at hotels when traveling for work. As long as I can feel decently safe, the room is mostly clean, and it's realistically quiet then all is good for me. I'm not a fussy or high expectations person.
PROS: -the staff I interacted with seemed relatively friendly.
-felt decently safe.
NEUTRAL: On the website they boast about a fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen comes 100% bare, you have to put in a request to get kitchen supplies at the front desk which is fine, just a clearer explanation would have been nice. (We got in VERY late and could not cook any of our food.)
-Laundry is $3 per load (so at least $6 to do a medium load +more if you don't have your own detergent) It's okayish, but on the website they kinda suggest it doesn't cost extra, which is a little dishonest.
-the quite/loud ratio kind of varied a lot, sometimes it was great, peaceful and quiet. Other times people would be hanging out in the hallways being very rowdy. Often you could hear arguing in the halls or other rooms. A few different times kids were running wild down the halls unattended. Security didn't seem to do much about any of it, so I guess your mileage will vary.
-There is no communal lobby hang-out area, no sit-in breakfast area, and no designated communal working area....you have your room and that's it. This is a heads-up if you are traveling with coworkers; you won't have a "second space" to get away to.
THE CONS: So, the nitty gritty....It was a very uncomfortable experience, I have never been so disgusted at a hotel before.
-MASSIVE amounts of hair on the bed sheets, actual clumps.
-Lots and lots of hair on both sets of towels we used during our stay. (So like, 8 towels, 8 washcloths, 8 hand rags) all had hair, and even worse, DIFFERENT TYPES OF HAIR. Gods, the first time I dried off and looked down and saw all the hair, I did one of those little silent screams. I thought it was a fluke but every towel was like that. That tells me they don't clean or wipe out the washer between washings.
-The kitchenette has no ventilation vents (or at least in the room I was in it did not have one) So there was a super rank rancid food smell in the kitchen area that would not dissipate. Guys, I have a poor sense of smell and covid made it even worse, but the overpowering smell was gag-inducing!
-the kitchen counter, the kitchen cabinets, and the fridge all felt tacky and sticky in a way that made it seem like it they hadn't been thoroughly cleaned.
-The only thing that actually seemed clean was the kitchen sink itself, which had a terrible dripping sound that you could not turn off, definitely was annoying to try to sleep with that going.
-The floor was gritty with dirt. Actually made the mistake of walking to the bathroom without socks at one point, my feet got black dirt stains.
-Lots and lots of crumbs around bed/nightstand/bedside desk.
-Tub was dirty/hairy and not wiped out
-the TV was glitching out really bad, most of the time it would be stuck in 'mini view' I'll try to include a picture of what I mean.
-Crumbs/trash in main hallways that stayed for days at a time.
-Hallways have the same putrid smell that is in the room. I really can't stress enough how vile it smells at this location.
And saved the worst for last: -A DEAD BUG was found in our bed!!
All of these things considered, the stay was way way overpriced considering the poor quality...
Read moreFor the price, I didn't expect anything special. I am still very disappointed though. Overall the location is dated and a bit run down.
I gave 2 stars because again, you can't find a cheaper room than this unless it is a motel. It was better than a motel in general. It was spacious and the bed itself was firm which is sometimes hard to find even in a nice hotel. The linens seemed clean. However, I draw the line on poop on the toilet seat and hair from the last guest int he bathroom, but maybe we just had some bad luck. Below I describe in detail how it went.....
We stayed in a Queen non-smoking suite for 2 nights. The room smelled like stale cigarettes, but I am pretty sure it was coming from the vents not the room itself, but it still reaked the entire time we were there. We were able to crack the windows open a few inches which helped, but it was hot so we had to keep them closed at night. The AC air was harsh. (a window/ wall unit, not central air). No real temp control, it was either On and freezing, or OFF and it was blowing humid stale air. I woke up each day feeling stuffy and sore throat.
Sounds also carries A LOT here. I woke up a lot during the night to banging etc....And we had a group partying down the hall. I don't expect silence, but I don't think this was a sound proofed room.
When we first got to the room, I noticed hairs on the bathroom sink and in the tub which was a turn off. Also spots on the underside of the toilet seat which grossed me out entirely. I went to town with Clorox wipes so I could tolerate my stay. Even though i requested the room for 2 adults, there were only 3 tiny pillows lacking any kind of support waiting for us on the bed. We asked for a few more and they did accommodate quickly. The bed also had just a sheet and a thin blanket. It was barely enough for us to cover ourselves. But on a positive, the bed was firm.
There is Vending, but no ICE which was a little strange.
On the way into town, we got stuck in traffic so I called to verify we could check in late (past midnight), and the customer service I received over the phone was mediocre (this was from the hotel site, not the call center). A lot of uh huh and yeah.
Although we didn't need the kitchenette, the fridge was clean and came in handy. I did need the microwave once and it smelled and was dirty (yuck). There are no frills as far as toiletries, etc. Just a small bar of hand soap and a very tiny squeeze bottle of shampoo provided. We needed a pen and paper and there was none, nor a DND sign for the door. These last few things are not a big deal, just saying, bring everything you need with you.
We were confused when the cleaning crew came through the room the first morning. We returned to find they pulled the covers up on the bed in a fast messy way, but no actual making of the bed...did not replace towels or bring more TP or do anything else to freshen the room. We were confused why housekeeping came in at all.
I will have to avoid this place next time through town. Hope the feedback sparks...
Read moreThis hotel for me was just OK. Which is too bad because there was a lot of potential for it to be better. Honestly I found the staff at the front desk to be super friendly and I hate to leave a less than ideal review but so many things have gone wrong during the duration of my stay. My first day I noticed the shower was not properly cleaned as thier was hair all over it. For the first 3 weeks my key card deactivated on me every single week and I've been careful not to let it near my cellphone (because that can cause it to deactivate). I lost a week of room service because of staffing issues? I don't know why but i had overflowing trash which is gross when some of it is food. I really felt like they should have offered compensation for that when I brought it to there attention considering its a part of what i pay for but they didn't and I didn't feel inclined to pressure them because, like I said before, the staff is really friendly and I tried to be considerate of the fact that the room service is provided by a seperate company. The shower is made of a very smooth and thus slippery surface and yet the safety bar is very small, not stretching the length of the shower. I actually got several bruises from a fall and was only inches away from a major blow to my skull that could have killed me and I'm only 24! If this had been an older or injured person, they would have been very unsafe. I'm not blaming anyone for the fact that I fell but its the first this has ever happened and I really think it would be good for health and safety to install some rubber floor mats in there. My iron was broke and not in an obvious way so when I went to use it, it dripped water all over my nice clothes. Simply cooking bacon caused a fire alarm to go off. The ceiling leaks after rain. And oddly enough the most annoying thing was probably that i had to relog into the wifi MORE than once a day for every single day of my stay. Even just once a day would have been less bad. But thats annoying to constantly lose internet not because of connectivity but because you need to resign in, and its not as simple as putting in a password. You have to answer questions to prove your a guest each and everytime. So...things add up. One or two issues can be overlooked but clearly there room service providers aren't great and thorough inspections of the room aren't being performed and improvments could be being made to thier technologies to increase customer satisfaction and safety.THE GOOD however is that the kitchen and amenities available for the kitchen are much more than most places at a similar price point would provide. A stove, sink, refrigerator, cabinets, microwave and pots pans and other dishwear are all available right on site. Many nearby food places can deliver directly to the hotel and the staff is always very nice. The breakfast isn't breakfast. It's coffee and snacks (packaged muffins and trail bars) which isn't the same but its free and I...
