This motel was so bare-bones that even my usually too-tolerant husband has declared it not a place he’d stay in again. There have clearly been attempt to clean it up: the paint is reasonably fresh; there’s new siding on the building, newish carpet, and new upholstery on the chairs (if in unfortunately retro rust/gold/avocado). The fridge is great, with a freezer that was large enough to freeze two large McDonald’s cups so we’d have cold water on our trek to Ottawa. But…the attempts at sprucing up the rooms are inconsistent and careless, which rather undermines their efforts. The finish has worn off the wooden frames of the chairs in leprous patches, the new paint was apparently thinned down, then slapped on so carelessly that there are drip marks, and most of the chrome coating has peeled from the remaining three of four toilet-paper holders. The corroding towel rack, designed to hold four three-piece sets looks rather pathetic with just the two washcloths and undersized bathtowels provided. Amenities consist of two wrapped half-dollar-sized slivers of soap—no tiny bottles or packets of shampoo, or box of facial tissues (the opening in the nice newish granite counters is boarded over). Although the room was supposedly non-smoking, it initially reeked of smoke. However, it wasn’t so bad after we came back from dinner, and the a.c. had been running for a while with the windows closed. I suspect that the smokiness might be a result of someone smoking outside, near the open windows. So: if all you need is a reasonably clean place to spend the night and aren’t fussy, this is...
Read moreThis was absolutely the worst motel I have ever stayed at they don’t want to provide you with extra amenities such as wash cloths , towels and cups . I was giving a room that was very cold the heater did not work so the lady provided a heater but it was still cold you would’ve thought I would be placed in a different room but she didn’t so I asked for sheets or blankets and the lady stated to me that their was already things on the bed as if she did not want to give me the items , she still ended up giving them to me but it’s after I gave her a hard time I even decided I would stay 1 night instead of 2 because the actions of these people were unbelieveable she said she would return my money the next day . Why ? Idk but it should’ve been placed back into my hand after I stated to her that I would stay for one night I didn’t make it a problem but the lady and man here are both very unpleasant this is their personal business but it’s not a place of business! I do not recommend if I could put 0 star I would

Read moreHere is an honest review without drama or over-expectations.
The check-in process with owner: Excellent. Unfortunately the queen room I booked was unavailable. There was a double room available. I accepted the double room. Not a deal breaker for me.
Parking: Lots of ample parking on site. Area is safe and clean.
The room: Sure, a candle may have helped a bit to rid of the very mild musty smell but, it was definitely caused by the AC running with the windows closed. I merely opened the window to air the room out for 15 minutes, turned the AC back on and all was normal. Otherwise, Room was impeccably clean! No bugs whatsoever, save for the fly I let in. Mattress(s) comfortable. Bed linens clean. Carpet, TV console, sink surface, toilet all VERY clean. Ample lighting. A door that closes and seals. Curtains to keep the morning sun at bay. There were soap and hand towels and body towels.
I read a number of reviews before I visited. Some were very positive and some were very negative. This is not the Ritz Carlton. For this price point you should not expect it to be. If you are willing to understand that 'you get what you pay for', you will easily understand the value in this little...
