Some of the better tasting food in the Watertown / Fort Drum area. Do not expect fast food service, it's a Jamaican place after all, so chill and enjoy the vibes for food that is cooked low and SLOW.
Ordered a side jerk chicken, side goat curry, and side mac and cheese. Would place them in the same order for how they tasted. Chicken was wonderfully brined, deep flavor on the skin, and tender. Goat was fall of the bone tender and incredible curry flavor from sauce, but had difficulty marrying the two...perhaps not having a starch to soak it all up is on me. Mac and cheese was exceptionally average, probably will never get again.
Would have given 5 stars but for the three sides I ordered it cost me $30 to eat for lunch out. Bit pricey given circumstances of distance, expectation management on service, and certainty of menu options availability on given day. If prices were lower, I would make a weekly visit. Given current prices it's more like once every...
Read moreI first tried this place when I arrived to Watertown a few months ago as I love Jamaican food and cook more then my fair share of it... the food is so underwhelming! After the first try I was extremely turned off by the lack of flavor in my food and the over cooked rice, but I always support black owned businesses and there are very few around here. I decided to give it another chance today and it will be my last time. I ordered a 20 dollar oxtail meal which consisted of one large fatty oxtail and two medium sized oxtails. Absolutely no flavor! Where is the rich color of oxtail gravy? Where is the flavor?? Literally sits in broth that taste like nothing with a bed of overcooked rice and vegetables. The plantains are actually tasty and the beef patty when there available. I really hope that Celeste restaurant reads this and improves the flavor profile of there dishes. For now I guess I’ll be cooking my own...

Today we tried Celest's Jamaican Cuisine and it is a hidden gem. It is located on RT 342 across the street from Longways Diner. The owner Wendy was very friendly and welcoming, as was the chef Darryl. We decided on Curry Goat, Jerk Chicken and Oxtail along with rice and beans. We choose all as side orders so we could share. Everything was amazing. The Jerk chicken was full of flavor, tender and juicy. The oxtail and goat were very tasty and melted in your mouth. If you are bringing younger children, please be aware of the bones. some were very small and you have to be carefull, however it is a small distraction in an otherwise flawless meal...
