Well, I went to griff's today (the one in Carthage by dollar general, on west end ave) and was VERY VERY Unpleased by the customer service. I understand this isn't the same store as the one in Watertown. However I'm assuming they're under the same ownership. As I was saying, I was at the redemption center today, and this woman by the name of Mary Joe, was very unfriendly and rude. My father gave me bags of bottles, and I was unaware of the fact that there were "non-recyclables" in the bags as well. I had 7 or 8 bags of cans/bottles. And the woman FREAKED OUT. "Excuse me, do your u ACTUALLY think that it is MY job to separate the recyclables from the NON-recyclables? Because it's not" I was taken off guard, and honestly blown away. My response, obviously was, "I mean, I'm sorry, my dad gave me these, I didn't individually dig through each bag to see what they consisted of.." and again, here she comes again with the attitude. "Yeah, well now I have to spend MY TIME separating these, and the people behind you are going to have to wait even longer, feel good about that?" My response: "well, I'm sooooo sorry that you have to do your job and separate the cans and bottles, but like I said, I wasn't aware these weren't recyclable.. AND I was under the impression that working retail (as I do) you should be more concerned about customer satisfaction, than your OWN satisfaction." Her response left me baffled "well guess what young man, you don't know a damn thing about retail if you think that's how it goes!" My response: "okay well I can see that you're having a hard time coping with the fact that your miserable life and horrible decisions have left you working here. But it isn't my fault? I don't know why you're taking this ou-" As she cut me off "I'm just going to give you the money for the cans you gave me, and you can get out of my store because I HAVE HAD IT with this generation" So gladly, even though I received less money than Allotted for the cans I gave her, since I was ALREADY late for my appointment, due to the fact that instead of just sorting through the bottles, and saving EVERYBODY time, she pissed and moaned the entire time, I took my money and walked out. I have my receipt in hand right now.

Upon opening it and asking what all the details were about opening AT NO TIME was I told that when closing the account out that a check would be mailed to the house. Every other place had either cut a check at that time or paid out in cash. So imagine my surprise when I went and closed the account out and was told then that they would mail a check. Needless to say that the check was not received in time for the trip which was 1 week after closing the account out. So the money raised was not able to be used for the trip. Therefore adding additional expenses to the already expensive project because everyone else had to come up at the LAST MINUTE with the money. We had made 3 other attempts in the 2 weeks prior to close out the account but everytime we were there they told us that only the manager could close it out and that he wasnt available. So needless to say I WILL NOT BE DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN WITH SADNESS ME BECAUSE I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN MY CANS AND BOTTLES THERE FOR YEARS. When seeing if they could put a rush on the check l, explaining that situation of the trip and talking with the manager and telling me that we had tried 3 other times over the past 2 weeks he didnt seem to care and was not helpful in the least bit. He said there wasnt anything he could do about it and oh sorry yeah that's our policy for accounts sorry you weren't told. So now they have not just lost my service...
   Read moreIf you love a store that can offer you a variety of beers with a customer service that feels like going to your friends house, and the product knowledge to be willing to talk with you extensively about every beer and product on the shelf then go to Griff's. They will make it a personal mission to find what you're looking for, help you discover new things you'll like and if they can't find it on their shelves they will do everything they can to order it for you. My favorite part about this place is I don't feel like a customer here,I almost always get into a deep conversation about beer and leave feeling like I just visited a good buddy and walked away with something I really wanted while I was there, they have this business down pat. There some complaints on here about the redemption center, honestly I've been dropping my cans here every two weeks for 2 years now and I can tell you I haven't had any issues, my guess is they are not used to redemptions and how time consuming it is or find themselves being disappointed by their return, these guys do a good job, yes it takes time and for a reason THEY'RE COUNTING YOUR RECYCLING FOR YOU if you don't like how long that takes then go to Hannaford and do it yourself, they do a great job and they bring your cash right to your car, I love it. Keep it up Griff's, you've made a loyal customer out of me I am sure you will continue make more if you maintain this level...
