I actually enjoyed my stay here. It is a quaint country getaway right here within the mountains. It was cozy and the owner's grandmother made all of the cool crochet portraits scattered in the lobby and the restaurant. Free WiFi! Remember, this place isn't funded to be your large scale commercial upscale hotel like a Hilton. Haha, looks like people forget that. Also, it is a small town.. if you feel an unsafe situation call the police. I felt like it is a safe neighborhood. The restaurant food was a little pricey but does have good specials if you know when to come. Food was very good. Staff is nice if you take the time to talk to them casually instead of complain. Now that being said... I think they should find a way to put money aside for certain things. For instance, hire someone at the front desk to be there after 1200.. it doesn't always look good for first impressions when you show up and no one is around. If they can't afford it, just a note to the guest with the telephone number before they get there so they aren't surprised. The spa tubs are very nice but I think inexpensive coffee makers would go a long way. Now on a much more serious note... yes the building is old but that doesn't excuse maintaining it. The floor was dipping in my room and the bed foot had actually started digging into the floor with its weight. Not sure of stability but I would recommend taking care of the floor before something happens and someone files a lawsuit. Safety is number one. Fix major structure issues and this place has very high potential. I really...
Read moreLimited hotel options in Catskills. The location was perfect for us to attend a wedding event at Spillian. The room and the hotel were VERY clean. The bed and the pillows were a bit too soft but the bed and the bedsheet were comfortable and I slept very good. They even provided 2 pillows per person. Water pressure was good and there was no issue with hot water. There is a window AC and a ceiling fan which kept the room in good temperature. Coffee was served at the lobby in the morning and I was told that coffee was good. They even provided a razor and shower caps which are rare. Love the flower arrangement in the lobby, the vintage lunch boxes, sawing machines and tables, telephone booth. Bikes and helmets are available too. Parking lot with ample spaces across the street. ||||Expect the room is small and rustic. Expect no TV but they offered good wifi. Expect no elevator to the second or third floor. Expect not much food option here but had a good brunch at Phoenicia Diner nearby. Also there is a thrift store ran by the community center which offers great finds with great price. ||||Our toilet is really very tight and may not able to accommodate everyone. With all the loving cares from the owner to this property, wish there are better tissue holder and towel holder. There are really cheap ones from Walmart. Please install some hooks and shelves in the bathroom. ||||They charged 4% fee for credit...
Read moreWe came from Raleigh, NC. I had such a difficult time trying to find a place to stay. My fiance was coming to see his youngest daughter graduate from High-school. He has not seen her in 14 years. We needed something decent that was close to Roxbury NY. I booked a room at this establishment. I was contacted shortly after my booking. I did inform that we were coming from NC. We were definitely not going to make 6pm check in. I was told that was not a problem and the door would be open for us. We experienced more traffic than expected. I called multiple times and left a message. I did receive a call back. I let a female know we were going to arrive even later then we expected. I was told that was already expected and the door would be left open. I didn't have any worries until we arrived. Locked. I called the number and we were told once again it was supposed to be unlocked and available for us to get in. We had to wait to have the owner? Let us in. 20 ,30 minutes later. We have been in the car a very long time. Do not trust the pictures. I know in the agreement 7 days before. I couldn't stay here. I wish, I was offered something for their mishap, but was only offered complementary coffee as the door hits me in the butt. I'm at a loss with nothing to make up for the 2 extra days I paid for. Really? I understand the policy, but ... Great way to welcome guests by making them...
