Great campground. Each site is laid out well. Some are close together but overall it was good. We could hear the highway and some night noise. The showers and bathrooms were clean and good with hot water in the bathrooms as well. The creek was fun as is the pond. Our spot wasn't close to the lake. About half the spots are within walking distance to the lake.

Really crowded for the 4th of July but that was expected. We had super loud neighbors one night drinking and partying till 130am and left food out. They were kicked out the following morning.

We really enjoyed this campground. The sites are spacious and well maintained. They provide a shelving hut in your space to keep firewood dry. There is a trail that you can walk to see Donner Lake that is easily accessible from most sites. It is about 30 to 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe if you want to explore that area. There is a Chevron gas station right outside the campground that has a dump and fill station if your have a camper or RV. You can also get firewood at the chevron or at the entrance of the campground. There is a cool river rafting area about 10 minutes down the road that we did that was really fun. We didn't give it 5 starts because there is poor signage in the park and on the trail. We had a difficult time finding the exit to leave the campground and we also got a bit turned around once it got dark on the trail. Be aware of wildlife, while on a road walking back from the trail after being turned around we did...

Park service gave us a map of the 15 spots available on a weekday. All of which were located furthest away from the lake and closest to the pond/mesquito hatchery. We also were told we needed to pick a spot before entering, due to the privacy of other campers. After riding bicycles around the grounds for 2 days we confirmed this park is 90 percent empty after the long memorial day weekend. There's also loud train noises you can hear inside an rv when you're close to "Donner Pond". Paid $35 per night but did have cell service to leave...

Because practically no review, I wasn't sure about this place-- only came here due to last minute decision for Saturday night camping. I am glad we found this place. Feels safe, nicely maintained; with fire pit, bear box, picnic table all in place--- most importantly, they have warm water for each individual bathrooms for washing your hands/face. I love that! It's 35.00/night-- bit high but maybe that's the rate around here? I will do more exploring and find...
