*Room door locks/security lacking. (1.) The back deck sliding patio door should be lockable from the outside with the same key as the front door so you can lock it when you head out for a walk. You can only lock it from inside, so you have to go out the front and walk around the building. (2.) The front door has no inside chain, deadbolt or other device to secure while you are in the room, like almost every other lodging room on the planet has. Only the doorknob lock. (3.) The front door had to be pulled hard to make it shut and latch all the way. Very easy to lock it and think it is shut when it actually isn't. (4.) You have to test the knob and door yourself to see if vertical or horizontal equals locked. Once I thought it was locked and it wasn't. Should be a little explanation chart right there on door to eliminate confusion. (5.) No peephole or side window to see who might be at your door. (6.) No safe or lockbox.
For the good things: (1.) Came across as clean and predominately functional. One broken drawer handle that didn't affect much, but that was it. (2.) Well equipped full kitchenette. Small full-size over-under fridge/freezer, 4-burner electric stove, large 1000 watt microwave, and sink. Coffee maker with necessary expendables for brewing caff & decaf (no tea, powdered creamer). Pots, pans, cutting board & knives, dishes, wine glasses, cleaning supplies. (3.) Well equipped and clean bathroom. Neutrogena shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and French milled soap. Sunbeam hair dryer, extra tissues and TP. No emergency toilet plunger. (4.) Beds are plush and very comfortable and clean. Four pillows per bed plus an extra in armoire, along with extra blanket, iron and mini ironing board. (5.) Everything else: Philips 32" LCD TV with basic cable and DVD player. 4-person table for dining or other. Very nice Memorex alarm clock radio with extra large blue LED digits for easy night viewing. Plenty of accessible electric outlets (two in lamp assembly between bed).
Basically, for its class of hotel, this would get a 5-star if it was not for the security. If those items aren't that important, by all means, this is a great place to stay. To be honest, I would probably consider it again, too, but those items really need to...
Read moreAfter owning a hotel for 15 years, I know the difference between a clean and complete room, and a damaged room, a rip off. The appearance of the Room 8 had welfare hotel written all over it.||The room was open, not locked, towels strewn on the bed. It looked like the housekeeping team had not completed the turnover. We left to sit outside and wait. |Once inside, the room was dismal, the side door to the patio was broken. It had no screen, it couldn’t be opened. The windows were broken, and could not be propped open for fresh air, and posed a safety hazard. ||The bed was uncomfortable, like a waterbed filled with old sheets and towels. No bedside lamp for reading, other than the parking lot light which was shining all night. Good thing there were room darkening shades to close the rotten view of the laundry bags, mops and brooms outside our room and the view of the parking lot. Again, we called the 800 number to contact a manager or owner to address and correct the problems with the damaged room. Then, I tried another Vacasa phone number, and spoke to someone. I was told an operations team would contact me. We were hopeful, but no one contacted us.||This hotel is a churn & burn operation. It needs better management and maintenance, and a plan to revert this room to housekeeping. The space is needed, as we were not charmed by the laundry, portable ac units, mops and brooms outside. Instead, we feel ripped off. $700 dollars down the drain. And, with no on-site owner or manager, it heads in beds, up and out. We couldn’t wait to leave. ||Bottom line: |- Rented a damaged room for top dollar|- No owner or manager on site|- No employees to address problems|- No replies to dissatisfied customer |- Promises to send help or contact customer not kept|- No response to request for a refund|- A...
Read moreI went labor Day weekend last year and everything was great, our room had a porch with a seaview and you could just step onto the beach. We liked it so much we decided to return. Unfortunately within the last year it's been taken over by Vacasa, a kind of Airbnb. When we booked in May the photos showed exactly the same type of room/porch as previously stayed in, so we booked. When we arrived, we made our way to our room (no.8) we immediately realised it wasn't the room we booked as it was on the side of the building. We entered the 10 digit (yes 10 digit!!) room key code and entered the room. Now apart from not having the seaview, the room had no wardrobe, just wall coat rack with no hangers, no table and chairs, so if you wanted to sit it had to be on the bed, it also has torn drapes and dirty carpets as well as only on bedside table. When we opened the solid porch door we found an awful 4x4 patio at the side of the building, right in the middle of a thoughrofare and no sea view. We were upset and annoyed, especially as we'd spent so much money ($600 a night) we went on the vacasa website to find the photos had been changed and now depicted the correct photos of room no. 8. We rang Vacasa, as there is no reception or manager on site to complain. But we didn't get very far unfortunately, although they did say that our room wasn't usually rented out. There were no other rooms available as it was labor day weekend, eventually they gave us a $120 refund (we're not really sure where that figure came from). We eventually decided to just get on with our weekend but it really did spoil it. My advice is to just avoid sandbars Inn. Or if you go...
