Manager was very friendly upon check in, but left for the day shortly after that. I was left with the night clerk. I'm still not sure if she was purposely not being helpful, but her customer service skills need an update.
Thats not the only thing here that needs updating. First, my access key card did not work on the side door. I ended up lugging my stuff back around through the front door. I stopped to mention that my card wasn't working and the clerk shrugged and said it often doesn't. When I pressed for more information, she advised that I could leave that way because it works from the inside. No apology for my inconvenience or offer to fix it. I went upstairs and checked on my mother's room. Mom said the remote needed batteries. I went back downstairs and waited at an unmanned counter for a few minutes figuring she was busy. Then said "knock, knock" and she came out from the back room saying she can't see the counter from back there. Again received no concern for my inconvenience as she rummaged for batteries and replaced them. I noticed the light didn't come on when I pushed the buttons. She said they often don't. I thanked her. Skeptical, I went back upstairs to check. No luck. Back downstairs. "hello? I'm back! " out she comes. "What exactly is it doing".... Um. Nothing. Thats the problem! " Are you sure it's not the TV?" Yes. It's on and the buttons on the TV are working. (At this point I'm getting really annoyed.) She gave me a different remote and said " I know for a fact this one works." I think- why didn't you give that one to me first?? Thanked her with clenched teeth and went to my room. My phone is perpetually flashing, my room is dusty, the bathroom needs a deep cleaning and I was left with zero washcloths. Grabbed one from my mother's room- I was not going downstairs again. Oh, and my mom's room alarm clock had not been updated for Daylight savings.
Any one of these things would not be a big deal. Together, they left me with the impression that things are being allowed to slip. Yes, it's an older hotel, but that doesn't mean repairs shouldn't be made and old doesn't need to mean unclean.
Price is reasonable, sheets are clean, water pressure is great, and the air...
Read moreI suggest staying elsewhere. I was on a road trip and picked this hotel due to convenience to the highway. I wish I had kept driving. After booking and paying for the room online, I was surprised to be asked for a $100 deposit for incidentals at check in. Three days after check out I called to ask when my deposit would be returned, and was told 5 days. It is now hitting day 8 with still no return of my deposit. I was on a week long road trip and this is the ONLY hotel that I was a.) asked for more than a credit card number for incidentals b.) had any trouble with their billing process. At check in the night clerk seemed to have an bad attitude, like she didn't want to be at work, but it was late so I decided to shrug it off. The room was only surface level clean, again it was late, so I just pulled the nasty cover off the foot of the bed and called it a night. The next morning, we were leaving the table area of the lobby as the clock hit the designated end of their breakfast service, and the front clerk flicked the lights off as soon as she saw us stand up. It was like she was in a race to keep anyone else from thinking about using that part of the lobby. (The food was already mostly gone, so it wasn't like that was necessary.) Between the financial shiftiness, poor staff manners, and groady base boards I was left feeling like I stayed in a fleabag motel. This was my first stay at a Wyndham property, and I will book...
Read moreRenovations are being done. 1st floor is under construction. We stayed in rm 233. Booked online through google travel. Room was $94 (after tax $105). At check in, they asked for a card for incidentals. $50 hold which is normal, but my bank account shows the $105 for the room I booked and a charge for $138 from Wingate. I haven’t dealt with that yet and will update this review. Online, I booked and paid for a double Queen room, but was given a King. Not a big deal, but not what was expected. Front desk was going to charge it, but she was relatively new and was going to call her manager. This is an indication of poor management and training. She was friendly and courteous.
Our room was ok, but dust everywhere and caused sneezing through the night. Bed was new and very firm. Shower was nice. Weirdly, there was no fridge or microwave. Also, if a hotel is not going to offer the traditional breakfast, then don’t try to supplement it with a honey bun and a warm bottle of water. Reduce the room price and move on. *Opinion-Hotels are going to milk the no dining until they can’t justify it any longer.
Felt safe and parking was well lit.
Update I called when I was charged $88 for the room from Wingate. Wingate said there was no indication I paid online. I called “last minute travel” and they discovered Wingate didn’t check me in correctly. It was resolved while in the phone. This incident may be the reason we didn’t get...
