WORST ... STAY AWAY. We are National Park family travelers and have been to a lot of hotels and motels all around the country. Have never had such a bad experience even at remote motels. They are a fraudulent business and just want to swindle money. Details below
We booked a non smoking room and we arrive and were given a room and it smelt of some had smoked in the room. It was so strong that we could smell it in the alley as soon as we opened the door. We went down at the front desk and said the same. I complained saying i can't stay in that room with a kid. Also requested the lady (Aurey or Ori) to come on top and a have a look. She quoted exact words. "I trust you" like she knew it all along. So asked for the another room and she came back saying they were completely booked and the only one left was a pet friendly one which was due to occupied later in the night. So she suggested i can cancel and look for something elsewhere and my money would be refunded once the manager is in. Which was inconvenient but ended up driving 90 miles to another town to stay.
A week is passed and see a charge on my card. Follow up to see and they had a completely fraudulent story that they had 7 rooms and I was not willing to change as per the front desk lady. Also they had 3 people go up to the room and validate that there was no smoke smell.
I spoke to the manager (Russ) who seemed to be very nice on the phone and said due to the contradicting stories their owner did not want to refund the amount.
If this is the way you want to run your business its completely up to you. God watches over everyone. I usually never write a review. But felt the need to let people know...
Read moreThis place is clean and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast was simple but far better than a continental breakfast. They had 2 hot items (1 egg/1 meat changed daily) along with a waffle machine each day. It was adequate for breakfast. If you feel like you need more, McD's is in the same parking lot as the hotel. It has a pool and hot tub, but we didn't have time to use them. I was disappointed that we had a room with 1 bed and it was only a queen. It would have been nice to have a king. The staff was very friendly, helping us with places to see and eat. We tried the Rustic cafe recommended and enjoyed it. They do not have an elevator so request 1st floor if you cannot do stairs. The hotel was close to old downtown Two Harbors, so it was a quick drive. There is a grocery store across the street and a home store with clothing and other items if you need that type of shopping (I expected it was a discount store, but very expensive). The room locks are updated to proximity instead of swipe (very unreliable), it would be nice to have an app to open the door instead of keeping a card handy. Not sure why, if you update to this type, it doesn't support phone NFC. The price of the room for what you got was fine, but didn't feel like I got a...
Read moreStayed here for two nights while attending the Day Out with Thomas event and enjoyed our stay. The staff was kind, courteous and hard-working.
The queen room felt very small when we put up our toddler’s floor bed on one side of the bed - wish they had some kind of a suite with a few extra feet of space. The complimentary breakfast was well-stocked but all very grab & go, not really a hot breakfast. We brought the food back to our room because the dining area is tight.
If we could add anything, we’d add a drinking fountain or a water bottle filler. There wasn’t a place for drinking water - the front desk offered bottled water and referred us to the Qwik Trip next door for easy refilling. Wish it would have been on-site but the tip was very helpful!
The pool was nice - there was a rowdy group of kids there when we tried to bring our toddler in with a life jacket, so we quickly left, much to his disappointment. The hotel itself felt clean, every staff member was kind and we felt safe - the rest is just details and depends on...
