Sleep Inn & Suites at Discovery Park of America — Hotel in Union City

We stayed just one night for a quick trip to the Discovery Park of America. The location is brand new and literally backed up to the Discovery Park which was handy, and during the busy season for the park there is an entrance right near the hotel that guests can walk through. In addition to being close the to park the hotel is just minutes away from downtown Union City for needs such was restaurants, Walmart, groceries and gas. The grounds were exceptionally clean and well kept with plenty of well-lit parking. The lobby is large and clean, and contains a convenience shop, breakfast area and a business center computer for needs. There is also a cabinet with board/card games and various appliances (toaster, steamer etc) that guests can borrow. The check in process was very smooth, and the young lady working at the time was both friendly and helpful. All our online requests for our room were met without having to remind them on check in. The room was impeccable and just as the hotel’s pictures had described. The bed (and pillows) was exceptionally comfortable, and the pull-out sofa bed was better than expected. Even though the highway was within site, the night was very quiet and restful. The wifi was plenty fast, and had good signal throughout the hotel. The indoor pool was very clean and warm, and there were plenty of pool towels. In nicer weather there is also an attached covered patio (with ceiling fans, tables and chairs) off the pool and a larger free standing one right outside. I especially liked that the pool/porches overlooked the Discovery Park. We did not use the exercise room, but it looked nice and had several machines and weights. The free breakfast was very nice. There were choices of breads, pastries, cereals, oatmeal (with toppings), waffles, eggs, sausage, and yogurts. There were two very nice ladies maintaining the breakfast area, keeping it spotless and well stocked, and greeting the guests as they came in. One of my biggest complements for our entire Choice Hotel experience was that the breakfast area used real plates and biodegradable utensils. The worst ever! I rented a room for 7 days at this hotel in May 2020. My reason for renting this room was because I had a friend who was coming for a visit. So I rented the room so my friend would be comfortable in the stay . well about 3 days go by and my friend is away from the hotel abd we're having drinks therefore we decided; it just was not a good idea to drive back to the hotel under the influence . so my friend stayed with me that night . and the next day we visited others and got so exhausted that my friend stayed with me again. So that made 2 days my friend had not been to the room. Although I prepaid for 7 full days. When my friend returned to the room. Everything they owned , everything at the room was missing. So they call the front desk whom then responds by calling the police department. About 10 cop cars came speeding up as if I were a criminal. We done nothing wrong. The police issue a paper stating we were banned from the hotel. And. All the hotel could say is that we abandoned the room . when we didn't . it was paid for. The hotel refused to give me any money back. Including my 200$ deposit. And when the. Mussing items from the room we're recovered from the police station. There was property that was gone. Never returned. Such as most of the ladies health and beauty aid. Even stole a sex toy from her. Her bath and body works collection was gone her Hollister perfume was gone and even worse. They stole 3 jewelry boxes of hers . sentimental valuable items. And they stole it. And had the nerve to call the police as if we were bad ppl. I've been a member of choice hotels since 2017. Never had problems . as matter of fact. My work required traveling and I stayed at hotels 3 weeks out of the month. Never had problems. Until these ppl.
