Well... Where do I start... From first impressions, this a very beautiful, new, and modern hotel. Our check-in process was fairly short with very courteous service, as I get at most IHG hotels. We had been on the road all day and we were starved, so, basically, we went to our room, dropped our bags, and headed out to eat. We met up with some family and had a great meal (when in Union City, go visit The Alibi for some of the best seafood, steaks, and wings that you will ever have!) When we returned back to our room, we were exhausted having been on the road all day, and we were ready for bed. We plugged our phone chargers into the wall, under the lights beside the bed. We climbed in bed and the mattresses and pillows were super comfy, just like most other IHG properties and I was ready for a night of great night sleep. Well... that's where things started to go badly. We turned off the lights and the status indicator on the fire alarm was literally flashing so brightly, the room could have been mistaken for some kind of dance club. But, being as tired as we were, this was overlooked and cured by putting a pillow over our heads. Then, after just a minute or two, it sounded like someone was herding a pack of little girls down the hallway on horses. The shrieking, screaming, and running was insane... Unknown to us, there was a cheer competition in nearby and many of the competitors were staying in the motel. Then, once that situation resolved, the air conditioner kicked on... It sounded like a 1971 Pinto in the room with us... I turned it off and just slept hot... We awoke the next morning to find out that our phones hadn't charged, because the outlets on both sides of the bed were dead... Great... Next, showers... Luke-warm water at best and the handle in the shower was reversed, so the cold was hot and the hot was cold... That was fun... Just a side-note, whoever the painting contractor was for this bathroom should find a whole new career and the general contractor should be sued for turning over a building with such shoddy workmanship and for not ensuring that everything worked... When I checked out, I very politely explained to the young lady at the counter all of the problems that we had, and that I would like to speak with the manager. She told me that the manager wasn't there right now, but she would have her call me... I gave her my business card... Haven't heard a peep... I realize it was the weekend, but, if I ran a business, especially, a brand new business, and there were these many issues, I would bend over backward to reach out to my customers to make things right... The young lady behind the counter explained to me that there had been many problems with the building since opening and that I should call IHG to voice any concerns... Very disheartening... I think that this hotel will eventually be a great place to stay, but, I think that I would give it a year or so to get the bugs worked out before returning... By the way, the price was double that of a very nice hotel, that was also new, right across the street... Not a good value at all... Not...

Read moreUpon checking in, staff seemed very nice, got to our room, and as always we check our room for bed bugs and cleanliness. Upon checking we found an empty bottle of liquor beside our bed. So it made us question, was our room really cleaned? My husband went downstairs to advise the staff about it, the lady made a statement about the bottle being my husbands and wasn’t he at the hotel last night. My husband replied that she had just checked us in and no he wasn’t. A few minutes later she came up to our room and checked it but said she’d move us rooms, with an upgrade and adjoining room for our friends. Which was fine. We were ok with that. Moved rooms, got settled and tried to lower the blinds, they were partially down, they were battery powered, lo and behold they weren’t working. We called downstairs and asked how to work them, a young guy came up, and he tried he couldn’t get them to work either. Made the state Mtn that we should be ok with the blinds partially up, the sun “shouldn’t “ wake us up and that he assured me I’d have my privacy, no one could see up that far, I had also made a statement that didn’t a blue light shine up the side of the building, he said no. He said we could move back to another room but we wouldn’t be adjoining with our friends that came on the trip with us and it would be a downgrade, we said no. We’d love with if. Because this was around 8pm. Next morning, my husband goes back down to the desk because that sun shined bright into our window around 5:30am, and asked if they had figured out about the blinds, or how they could temporarily fix it, the same lady who checked us in & made snide comments to my husband was down there again, she said no they weren’t fixed, couldn’t be, said she could probably move us but no fixing, she said is it really a problem, my husband said yes it is since my wife suffers migraines and the sun bothers her and that we get woke up as the sun peaks the earths surface, she then tells him, well that’ll just make you rise and shine early and get out of here sooner. I was LIVID!!! They couldn’t put blankets over the window, no boxes due to a fire hazard. However, the next morning (Sunday) a sweet front desk worker, Shelby contacted her GM and we were able to speak to her. She gave me some money back toward our stay ($30 🙄) and 1000 points. The hotel was clean, except our room. My biggest complaint wasn’t even about the happenings. Just about the unfriendliness of some of the staff...
