Twilight Motel — Hotel in Vandalia

Went to stay here, paid for a weeks stay. Well that's AFTER trying to get a room since the night before because the person renting the rooms didnt feel "well enough" to leave his office my dad stayed for an hour trying to get someone to come out. Well fast forward to tonight. We get there, finally are able to get a room after a few minutes of knocking and calling. We go check the room out and in first glance it looked alright, a little old and in need of some remodeling but cheap price so we went for it. Finally we get our stuff inside, go to the grocery store and get snacks for the night. that's all we had time to do. We get back put our snacks and drinks up. And pull down the beds....spiders!!, under the covers! We step back and go to call and theres a huge one crawling up the wall! A huge black bug on my arm while we pack then, a roach on the floor!! Well folks were not done!! Ants were crawling out of the shower drain!! We go to get our money back and they give it all back after a fuss with the cops other than one nights because we were there for 2 hours!! Come on now! I'm not the one to fuss but clean your hotel and spray for bugs!! Nasty never...

Stayed here for three weeks. Thought the owner was very trust worthy....boy was i wrong. he told us stories of how people had "screwed him over" in the past by not paying past due payments etc....so we hit a rought patch and our car broke down and decided we couldnt afford his outrageous of $160 week where you had to fight to get your room vacuumed, sheets changed AND to top it off....had to FIGHT for toilet paper!! Claimed he had wifi but 99% of the time i had to stand outside in the cold or sit in my car to keep somewhat warm, to get the wifi in at all. The man always talked about small town hospitality but screwed us out of $35.00 for a full night when we didnt even stay there!! when we got mad at him he always came back with the answer "your getting a great deal!!! go check surrounding hotels..i am the cheapest.." blah blah. it was a lie. Found a cheaper and CHARMING motel downtown from 1906. $60 cheaper a week and has great wifi, dish network, and the decor is amazing...

Only got here this afternoon. Parts are still under remodel. It's an old motel. Antique furniture. Our room has a small bathroom and shower, plus a small closet. My daughter's room has a big bathroom but no closet. Both rooms have mid size refrigerator and small microwave. 19" box TV with limited cable. All in all for $50 per night per double room it's well worth it. Bigger problem is 20 miles to Bowling Green. Just not much...
