Connie, the owner of this beautiful vintage hotel... She is an absolutely amazing human being. She went above and beyond for me. I ran into an ice storm on my way through Missouri and I spent 2 nights here. I forgot my boots in Texas, she brought me boots to wear and took me up to the local grocery store for me to be able to get groceries for my stay. (I hate driving in ice! 😆 🤣 😂) You can't beat Southern hospitality. Thank you very much Connie!

Great place to stay... hosts are very welcoming and place is comfortable and relaxed. Sit out on the front verandah and watch the world go by. If you're after something a bit different... this place is full of old school memorabilia and artifacts... old furniture and decorations. A classic old building with rooms to suit. It was about $50 for the night.... cheap and far more memorable than a new style motel. Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful place to stay. Only ones staying there both nights so they gave us the keys and made sure we locked the place up when we left each day. Just an old, warm, and inviting home away from home with the nicest owners that are your friends the moment you say hello...

Never have i felt so cozy and comfy at a paid accommodation. Ive traveled extensively in past working situations, as well vacationing, and this was like being a true ‘guest’ not just a customer referred to as a ‘guest’

I was lucky to gave the whole of the adorably period-furnished 2nd floor to myself as well the most comfortable bed - that would put Hilton or Marriott to shame.

I love the Victorian era, and the decor, the decorations, the antique furniture as well as some modern pieces were perfectly integrated to where i felt id taken a walk back in time.

Right now (Nov 2020) they are doing renovations so you might feel a bit of that as you walk through the lobby, and yes its not perfect - there may be imperfections in places, but its a 100+ year old residence and id enjoyed it less if it felt like some corporate remodelers came in and made it feel like 2020.

The location for me was perfect, the town could be so much more - but if youre visiting Vandelia Missouri and love the idea of staying somewhere where you arent just a customer - GO STAY AT GRAND VANDALIA HOTEL.

For me, because of the Grand Vandalia hotel i will be accepting other opportunities with my Chief to return to this forgotten sleepy town. Now if only they could have a couple nice...

I love this place. I work nearby and live out of town, so I have stayed here a lot. The owners have bent over backwards to make my stays pleasant. The place dates back to 1905, so, yes, I have to wait a bit for the room to cool down or heat up, in summer and winter respectively, when I first get there, but once done, it stays pretty well where I want it. The room I usually stay in has a pretty powerful window air conditioner and space heater, both of which are controlled by the tenant. It has a comfortable bed and a private bathroom with a good shower, as well as a cold fridge and The rates are quite reasonable. And in the spring, summer and fall, there’s a wonderful porch, loaded with flowers (the owner has an amazing green thumb) and a few rocking chairs. Makes for a very pleasant place to sit and drink your coffee in the morning or a refreshing drink in the afternoon or evening. There’s a really cute restaurant that is currently open only for private parties and/or special occasions. If I had a wish list, it would be that the restaurant be open more regularly. The owners say that may happen eventually. It would be the icing on a...

We were traveling through, it was getting late, and we wanted to stop for the night. We called to check availability. Connie turned on the AC in our room prior to our arrival and was waiting for us at the front desk. After we returned from eating a late dinner, we really enjoyed sitting on the porch. You could see so many stars, even with the ambient light from the street lamps. Our bed was VERY comfortable and we slept well. We also appreciated that the mini fridge in our room had an icebox. We were able to refreeze our ice packs for the next day's travel. Our room did not have its own bath, but the bathroom was right next to us, so it was not an issue. I know other rooms do have private baths. I also enjoyed looking at a decorating book from the upstairs sitting area. This is a cool old hotel and we would...
