Good stopping point from Monument, CO to Houston TX. The area seems pretty safe, as the hotel sits away from the road with plenty of light and cameras around. I would say If the hotel is packed, parking may be a problem... For us there was plenty of vacancy, so there was plenty of parking even for us towing a uhaul. Area has a couple things to eat near by, and it's not far off the beaten path.
Rooms were setup a bit different than most hotel rooms. We kinda liked the headboard of the bed on the wall with the bathroom... Means you face the window if laying on the bed. Space of the room was good. It was just us 2 adults and 3 pups. Yes there is a pet charge, but it's one charge vs Holiday Inn being per pet. Rooms were clean, TV technology was pretty neat. Lighting all over the room, even inside the wall units around the window (desk, and TV) were a nice touch with the lighting. Bathroom was clean, and liked the shower and a decent shower head.
All in all... Good overnight stay. Desk clerk was friendly, staff around building were very friendly at night and in the morning. Plenty of places to walk the dogs around the hotel as well. One thing to watch for... This area has sand burrs like crazy... Your dogs will pick them up in their feet, so be careful. The hotel can do a better job removing the burrs around the grounds grass... But that only affects us...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Hampton Inn Vernon, Texas on a personal trip and although the facility was clean and the complimentary breakfast was great, we were very disappointed in the housekeeping staff and the front desk clerk. We left our room at 8:15am to go eat breakfast downstairs and in the 20 minutes that we were gone, housekeeping came into our room, stripped the bed, threw the linens on top of our luggage, threw the pillows on the floor and removed all the bathroom linens and simply left. We had to get linens from the cart in the hallway in order to bathe. Upon checking out, I let the front desk clerk know what happened and she told me it was "my fault" for not putting out the "do not disturb" sign on the door ... literally told me it was "my fault". I informed her that they should have known when they came in that we were still there because all our luggage, valuables and personal items were in the room/bathroom. Again, it was "my fault". EVEN after informing her that if I had planned on returning to the room to go back to bed that I would have to remake the bed myself, she simply did not care and again, it was "my fault". In a short 20 minute period of time, housekeeping made a mess of our room and I am very disappointed in what they did and how the front desk clerk responded to my concern. I will never stay...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is pretty much the nicest hotel in the city of Vernon, TX. We arrived late and my husband went to check in. The attendant would not allow him to check in since our Hilton Honors account is in my name. I have never experienced this issue at ANY Hilton property over the last 5 years. I was already checked in on my phone but apparently that didnāt matter. The lady working on 3-12-22 around 10:00pm then proceeded to discuss my name and the spelling of it with another random guest which I did not appreciate, as I just wanted to get the hell out of there and get to bed. The room was nice enough, very spacious. Our key to the room worked about half of the time which was annoying for my husband who had to take my dogs out in the middle of the night. The breakfast was really surprisingly good. I havenāt had a hotel breakfast that good since before C-19 pandemic. Another reason for my 3 stars is the housekeepers tried to enter my room at 8:00am to start cleaning the room. The door was not latched at that point and they almost walked in on my husband who was changing clothes. That was really annoying. Over all I didnāt hate it, but hope I never have to come back here. Oh, they also use water softener which I...
