High Mountain Helicopter — Hotel in Victor

I flew with them in April of 2016. They guide seemed a bit cranky or maybe just not very personable. That really didn't bother me as I'm not there to make buddies. What I did find annoying was the fact the guide would take the best line down each run first. (April sun is intense and really softens the snow.) The guide would take the untracked powder right where the shadow of the trees was cast upon the mountain. This is where the best, lightest powder was. That left two options for the rest of the PAYING people on the chopper. Run through the grippy sun exposed snow, or, follow through his tracks.

We were one of two groups sharing the same chopper. (The other group was the owner of the company and his friends.) My group was brought to runs the other group had obviously just done. The guide would tell us to follow his tracks, but, with so many tracks already in the snow, it was difficult to follow when he went out of view or skiing through trees. So, I found myself concentrating more on trying to take the right course rather than just reading the line I wanted and skiing the terrain.

This outfit has some very nice machinery. I would be willing to give them another try, but, given the price they demand, I'm not overly eager to. Too many operations running out of BC at practically...

Can I say holy sh1t on here? What an amazing day and experience I had with High Mountain Heli and my guide, Matt Lloyd. The snow was fresh and light, I even got some face shots! My beard looked like Santa and it sure felt like Christmas to me! Matt worked with our group to ensure our safety and fun. He picked out the best lines and let us ski some top to bottom runs. The pilot was getting after it and coming over the ridge lines of the Palisades Range was intense. The way he approached the landing zones made me feel like I was a part of the helicopter. So damn cool! Got to see the grand teton up high! I seriously recommend HMH to anyone who wants to experience a once in a lifetime trip. What a unique and amazing way to experience the backcountry around Jackson. Our guide Matt was knowledgeable, personal and experienced, and our pilot Sam was phenomenal. Our trip was a week plus after the last storm and we had a sunny calm day with fresh, untracked, light powder turns all day; with amazing views to boot. With good mountain/slope awareness it’s a breeze to follow the guides instructions, and they are able to cater to all skill levels. If you have a chance to get out with this operation I highly recommend it.
