Theatre at the Welk — Hotel in Vista

I would give them zero stars, but Google does not allow it My stay at the Welk Resort was disappointing. The room that we were assigned was in need of many repairs. Called maintenance the day after our arrival with notice of safety repairs that needed to be addressed. I was not in the unit when maintenance came out but there was a phone message left that the repairs had been completed. Only one of the issues had been taken care of. I proceeded to take a shower and upon exiting and grabbing a towel off the rack, the rack fell off the wall and I along with it. Called the front desk and asked to have a manager come out to the room but was advised that they do not send managers out to the room (unacceptable) and that they would have a maintenance supervisor come out instead. The supervisor came out but was not able to address the issues that evening and advised that someone would be out the next day. Maintenance came out the next morning but said that they only knew of 1 issue to fix. We pointed out all of the issues and they said they would be back in a few moments. 90 minutes later a different person from maintenance came to our door to address the issues. It took him 5 hours to fix "some" of the issues, not all. We never did get all of the issues addressed before our checkout which now leaves the issues for the next unknowing guests who arrive. We have stayed at this resort before and have not had issues as we did this stay. I know that they are under new ownership which may be the issue. I have never stayed at a property that refused to send out a manager when requested. I advise that if you are going to stay here to thoroughly check your room for safety issues...

Easy check in and resort looked beautiful! However that is as far as this resort would go with my family and I, surface deep.

First night there where people in thier car and on patios smoking weed. Security just ignored the situations. The day after we went to the recreational center to play games for the kids and go fishing. The girl at the desk refused to make change for a 10$ bill because she may not have enough change for the day. After a short game of pool, we tried renting fishing rods. Girl was too busy stuffing her face to help. After we finally went fishing and returned. Nobody at the counter. 15 mins later a girl stuffing her face again says to just leave them on counter.

Went to the pool area to go swimming with family. Asked for a towel and the attendant points and says you can get them yourself. Ordering from pool staff took forever! 30 mins for two drinks! Ugh!

After the day was done we went back to our room. No trash taken or towels replaced. Water starts leaking from the ceiling. Engineering comes 2 hours later! Kids are now asleep. He said to just leave it off until morning. Stuck in a hot humid room.

Next morning we leave early and detail this to front desk. Says sorry, manager observed conversation and says nothing

A family favorite for more than 20 years. We’ve enjoyed hundreds of days/nights here in our 20+ years of timeshare ownership. Welk has done an outstanding job upgrading the resort over the years. There are two golf courses, several pools, two water slides, children’s play areas, several spas, outdoor fireplaces, tennis courts, a full service gym, several clubhouses with pool tables, ping pong, classes, and other games. There’s a “ catch and release” pond.

We’ve stayed at many other timeshares in the USA and Mexico but this is our favorite. Our unit is a two bedroom two bath with a covered patio on the golf course no rear “neighbors.” The unit is about 1200 square feet, complete kitchen with four burner electric range, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, three widescreen tv’s. You’ll enjoy this property as much as we do. 20 minutes from the Safari Park and 100+ restaurants and stores, less than 10 minutes to Highway 15. 20 minutes to Cinemas, 10 to 60 minutes to several wineries, 30 minutes to most beaches, factory stores and Legoland. 40 minutes to LaJolla, within an hour to the San Diego Airport, Sea World, marinas, Little Italy (a favorite), Gaslamp, Coronado, Newport Beach and 90 minutes...
