Not one to leave reviews but wanted to share my unfortunate experience at The Welk over the weekend. I pre-checked in to my room at approximately 12:30pm and I was told if my room was ready before 4pm they would notify me, otherwise come to the front desk at 4:00 to get my room keys. I was able to enjoy the amenities while waiting. At 4:30 I showed up at the front desk in which they said "it will be at least another hour before your room is available." I was disappointed because I was initially told my room would be ready at 4:00pm, but now 5:30? After speaking to the supervisor I received another room. I would like to point out that this was not offered initially, it has to be pushed for.
Upon checking in to my new room i noticed trash piled up outside the door, which was propped open with a fire extinguisher. The room was poorly cleaned. New towels and made beds. But the floors were filthy- covered in hair and bugs. There was a paper towel stuffed in to the smoke detector. Lastly, the ceiling was leaking a puddle on to the bathroom floor.
I made my way back to the front desk to notify them. After all, these rooms aren't cheap and honestly felt better staying at a cheap motel at this point. It took awhile but I eventually spoke to the supervisor who was kind enough to give me another room, upgraded this time. I go to the assigned room, the THIRD room I've gone through, mortified to find it was occupied. After scaring the living daylights out of the poor couple in the room. I went back to the front desk to yet again notify them of the situation. I would also like to point out it is a little after 10:00pm at this point. The supervisor gave me my 4th room assignment, still an upgrade. Thankfully this room worked out for me.
I'm a mother of a young toddler, and I was so excited for a little getaway to celebrate my best friends wedding. This was an incredibly stressful night for me and took away a lot of joy from this greatly anticipated weekend. After my experience here, I will not be staying at The Welk again nor will I be recommending this place to any of my...
Read moreBe prepared to be treated like a stepchild if you don't own at this resort. I called before booking because the website had two different resorts listed at the same address with totally different pictures - one with much nicer rooms and amenities and the other with outdated decor and furniture. According to the Welk staff, there are two resorts on this property (one that is upgraded and the other is not). So, I reserved an upgraded two bedroom through Interval. Upon arrival, we were assigned an outdated one bedroom which I assumed was an honest mistake so when I advised the front desk they put me in the wrong villa, they told me they would see what the mgr can do. They put us in another outdated one bedroom that was worse (dusty and dirty). I called the front desk again, they told me the place was totally booked with no more rooms. This was a lie because I clearly observed and saw there were plenty of empty rooms with lots of available parking spaces. During conversations with a few other visitors, of the ones that didn't own, they experienced the same issue. One of the couples told me they were moved to one of the nicer villas after they purchased ownership there. During my stay, I went through the sales session and learned that only a few villas underwent renos and were upgraded. They told us that a nights stay runs around $600 a night (my husband found online prices at $250/night). The property grounds and half of the scenery is nice (can see the freeway and noise on the other half). We were quoted almost 30 thousand to purchase ownership of a 2 bedroom. My husband, who wears hearing amplifiers, heard a salesman quote 42 thousand to another couple for the nicer upgraded 2 bedroom. So my husband asked our salesman if our quote was for the upgraded or outdated room. After a brief pause, he told us that it would be whatever is available and that we could pay an upgrade fee. My husband and I frequent southern California and would have purchased here if we had a better experience and were quoted a...

I am a retired Globalist from Hyatt and a Lifetime Titanium member of Marriott. (Marriott now owns Hyatt)
We got the week's stay 12/10/23 - 12/17/23 from Interval International. We are owners of a different Club, Blue Waters (Spinnaker) in Hilton Head.
We arrived early on the 10th and asked for an early check-in. They said 4 pm but they would try. So, we received a text about 1 pm stating our unit was ready. They had moved us out of that area into another that looked like we were in the basement. We went back to the front desk and told them no! Spoke with a manager and he said he would put us on the walk in floor where we were and that the room would be ready by 3 pm. Well, that did not happen! got put on the 3rd floor same original area about 4 pm. NO REAL MANAGEMENT AVAILABLE!
So the unit was a nice unit but there were issues! The shower head on the ceiling in the shower had little pressure as well as the hand held had none and the main one was only fair. The shower door did not close properly either.
The fireplace in the bedroom hardly worked and the logs were not even stacked. Glass was very dirty. Looks like they worked on it but did not complete the job. The living area was about the same, maybe a little better.
The dishwasher was disgusting! Old food debris caked on the inside of the door!
The hot tub closest to us, next to the Sales Office (Timeshare Sales) was pathetic! Clumps of dirt in the hot tub! It looked like it had not been cleaned on ages! Yet, we saw some people go in it with kids (no one under 18)!
NO HEATED POOLS!!!!!!!! Careful, they say heated but it is not!
There is NO BREAKFAST RESTARAUNT other than the golf shack on the 10th hole. CAREFULL!!!! NOT SO GOOD!
The main restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and DOES NOT OPEN FOR BREAKFAST!
I am doing my best to give this place 3 stars! I know we would not ever come back. Pay attention to what I am saying in...
