I booked 1 night 2 weeks in a row on business. I just needed a place to sleep and shower. Both visits, everybody was professional and courteous. Then after booking the night for Aug. 3rd, I got a call from the property operator accusing me (she was absolutely sure of herself, no questions asked) of having spilled wine in the room and it smelled very bad. I told her I did not spill anything, did not have any wine with me, told her i found offensive that she would accuse me of drinking & spilling. I mentioned that on both stays, the room smelled bad on entering and i had to leave the door open to air it out (the windows do not open). No comments were offered . She asked me if I wanted to cancel and talked about $100 deposit. When booking the room, the sale is final, so I said I could not cancel, but if she did, she would not get paid for it. She then told me the property Mgr would call me in 20 minutes, but I did not get a call. 4 days had gone by since i had left the motel on july 28th and her phone call, so not sure why she did not call me earlier. Fast forward to Aug 3rd when I showed up at the motel, thinking they had given this whole thing some thought, but was now accused of having stunk up the room on both stays, which was a new story. It was not wine anymore, but strong flowery perfume (which i do not have by the way) that I... not sure? Drank? Spilled or showered with? But regardless, I was responsible for the stink. The people who booked the room for 2 nights after me, but stayed only one night, were absolved of any wrong-doing, based on... who knows? No matter what I said, they were adamant, I did it, although with no proof, no stain, no timeline that made any sense, just happy to confront and accuse me after other people had used the room. I told them that if I had damaged their property and did not want to own for what i had done, I probably would not have booked yet another night... That did not seem to compute. No room for allegations, full-blown accusations. Never seen anything like that. Since definitely not welcome, and by then, not particular keen on being there, I canceled the booking, they confirmed they would not put the payment through, and I booked myself elsewhere. I hope they treat the rest of their patrons better. They had the gall to complain they were losing a sale and have a family to support .. how about not disrespecting and falsely accusing your customers in the...
Read moreWell I stayed at Short Hills for 3 months. Had to leave regrettably because of health issues this past Wednesday. Danny and his family are just terrific people. I was treated with kindness throughout my stay. Always had my rent paid on time and kept my room immaculate. When I had to leave this past Wednesday morning because of health issues I mistakenly thought that since I had paid up my rent through Saturday that I would be compensated for the three nights I was not there. I assumed that's since he now was able to fill the room that I was vacating, I would receive compensation back on my debit card. I was wrong. There won't be any compensation for the 3 days that I did not occupy the room because I was in on a "discounted weekly rate ". For 3 months I paid a weekly rent that was well above what the Goin seasonal rate was in the local area. My purpose here is not to write a bad review for a decent man and a decent room. My purpose is I suppose just to express my concern that though I had left with three nights paid up that I did not occupy the room, I would be compensated. I feel that that is just unfair practice. Again Danny and his family are decent people and the room that I occupied it was a decent room had to take care not to trip over the torn carpeting. I did my own vacuuming took out my own garbage out to the dumpster went down to the office to pick up clean linen and made my own bed. I dusted a couple of times a week and compensation for 3 nights that I did not occupy the room, I thought was just fair....
Read moreStaying at this motel with my family was a horrible experience. The listing says no pets, but there was a “Beware of Dog” sign outside the lobby. The room was musty and everything we brought into the room smelled horrible when we left. The outlet next to the bed was loose and falling out of the wall; I didn’t use it because I was worried it was a fire hazard. The office chair in the room was falling apart. The room was so tiny you couldn’t walk to the bathroom if someone sat at the desk. The water in the shower would not get hot and kept changing from lukewarm to cold. The remote control of the TV and the paper with the Wifi information on them both had a mysterious sticky substance on them. The TV had a big white spot in the middle of the screen at all times because the screen was busted. The AC was a window unit that barely cooled off the room; we had it on for hours and still had to sleep on top of the sheets. The bathroom was microscopic with cracked tiles everywhere. When I tried to check out, the door to the lobby was closed with a sign that said not to ring the bell, so I put the key in the key slot and left. An hour later, I got a nasty call from someone at the hotel. He said very rude things to me and claimed I disrespected him because my toddler tracked some sand into the room from the beach. The call was 100% unprofessional and uncalled for. Please take my advice and spend a couple extra dollars to stay at a cleaner place that doesn’t call your phone to berate you for bringing your child...
