Hotel Warm Springs is one of the first buildings you notice in the small charming town of Warm Springs, GA, probably due to it's size and character that seems to hover over the tiny main street of the town. Originally stopping in town for the day, essentially passing through, my traveling companion and I decided that we were having a great time at the local joint, "Mama's Pub," so we decided that we would seek a place to spend the night. With a desire to be right in the town, we figured we would take a shot and walk in to see if Hotel Warm Springs had any rooms available for that night. I was immediately greeted by a very charming and grand hotel lobby, with an older woman casually helping a couple at the counter. I could just feel that there was a lot of history and character within the four walls that surrounded me; the historic décor and adorable ice cream parlor attached certainly added to this feeling. I waited my turn, as it seemed the woman I spoke of was the only person working, but upon meeting her, I understood quickly that she is very much the heart and soul of the hotel and it's patrons. The woman, named Gerrie, informed me that there were 2 rooms available, one of which was the honeymoon suite; their top tier room if I'm not mistaken. There was also a premium charge for the all inclusive white-table cloth breakfast of which we opted out of due to our impromptu booking; however, it did smell delicious in the morning, but I can not speak any further on it. We ended up booking the honeymoon suite at a very reasonable price, which included a king sized bed and a heart shaped jacuzzi tub equipped with candles and bubbles. The entire booking process was easy going and filled with Gerrie's tidbits of history, very helpful guide to the building/town, and her extremely warming personality. You may have to wait a few extra minutes to get checked in, but it is very much worth the personal touch that Gerrie delivers to each and every guest. The room itself, although old, was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable night. I've seen reviews that there was an old mildew type smell, specifically in this room, and I can say that for an 111 year old building, no such smell existed. We utilized the jacuzzi tub and the bed was also very comfortable, although I must admit it seemed stiff upon first impressions. I was also very pleased to wake in the morning to absolutely beautiful natural lighting coming in the windows as it is a corner room; it made the room feel even more inviting. It must be understood that this building is very old, and has been a hotel for much of it's existence (ask Gerrie to tell you the history), and Gerrie has done a great job at maintaining that feel; so do not expect a modern holiday inn feel with freshly painted walls. It's not that, and it does not try to be, which is where most of it's charm lies. As for the rest of the building, the common areas are littered with elegant décor, furniture to relax in, and an adorable gift shop on the first floor. We purchased a couple pieces from Gerrie to remember our time here, and her items are much more reasonably priced than the local gift stores. Before leaving, we also grabbed some fudge from the ice cream parlor attached to the lobby, at which point we learned Gerrie also makes all the fudge herself along with a peach ice cream. So when you're waiting those 5 minutes to get checked in, remember that the sweet woman behind the desk is running the entire show and has been for 31 years, which is a wonderful appeal for the hotel in itself. Overall, this was one of the best experiences I have ever had in a hotel, and certainly one of the most unique; if you happen to visit the charming little town of Warm Springs, GA, do not pass this place by or you'll miss half of the towns charm right off the bat.||||When in town, check out Mama's Pub, Firefly Café, and the Little White...

Our room was on the second floor so climbing the stairs was more than a workout when you also have to carry all your stuff up and down or pay for help. Also, the front door is locked at night until they get ready to open it in the morning (around 11:00ish). If you want to go anywhere in the morning you have to exit all the way in the back of the hotel. The whole side of the hotel from the street to the rear entrance is a mess with dead plants, trash, old tools, buckets, and debris. We came here for our honeymoon so we chose the honeymoon suite on the second floor and also paid a steep premium (over $50+ per night) for the “Full Amenities Package” with the “Full Southern Breakfast” and “use of all social rooms and refreshments.” The breakfast was more famine that feast. They didn’t serve enough orange juice for the six guests and the sausage patties were cut in half. I felt we were being rationed… for example, we literally had to count the number of pieces of bacon and divide by six to figure our meager portions. The “use of the social rooms and refreshments” consisted of one soft drink or bottle of water per person and no food of any kind. The honeymoon suite was more of a honeymoon closet. There was no table to put a laptop, tablet, suitcase, etc... In the pictures you can’t see the window-unit air conditioner that blows cold air on you while you sit on the couch to watch TV. The heart shaped tub was dirty with a wads of black hair in the jets that wouldn’t come out plus, the carpet was...
Read moreAfter multiple calls with Ms. Gerry (she asked me to "call back because she was busy" several times) - I booked three rooms at the Hotel Warm Springs Bed and Breakfast Inn. We went into much detail selecting the rooms. After touring The Little White House, our family was excited to stay in the historic hotel where the Secret Service stayed while FDR was in Warm Springs. However, when we arrived at the Hotel, there was a sign on the door: "Closed on May 12 by order of the Mayor for not having a business license". It was late afternoon - we had driven a couple hours, toured the Little White House, and were ready to check in, only to find the hotel closed! The fudge shop and ice cream parlor were also closed. I tried to call several times - no answer. Even though we had three rooms books (and she had my credit card number), NO ONE called me or notified me in any way that the hotel was closed. If it reopens, I would be VERY cautious about rebooking. Obviously, Ms. Gerry (who was praised in some reviews) is not considerate enough to contact people who had reservations, nor does she get her...
