While traveling (with our family, pet dog & my nationally registered service dog) through beautiful Oklahoma with our RV & moving truck, we hit some heavy weather and after all, it was getting late. We decided it was probably best to find a safe place to rest our heads. The ONLY choice near Warner is Ambassador Inn & RV - after reading all of the wonderful reviews, we decided to give it a shot! As entrepreneurs, yes - we love to support small owned businesses!! Like I said earlier, it was late, so the office was closed. We called the phone number on the Google listing, as instructed. A gentleman answered and said he would be right up front to unlock the door for us. Seems we had woken him - oops!
After discussing options, we decided on two rooms, instead of the RV spot to accommodate our family. After the owner argued the validity of my registered service dog (supposedly, he was confident in the law), and insisting my dogs don’t pee or ‘crap’ in the room, we were hesitant, but paid for the room and pet fees (which vary by pet size, by the way) - we were given our room keys and an “old towel to first clean the dogs off with”. We were, however, grateful for the military discount.
Ours was a ‘pet room’ (#19), smelled of an old, stale….mold-like odor. (I get it, the facility is from the 70s - but none of the other reviews hinted at anything of the sort) We asked if this was the only option, and he said that we were limited to the pet room. He told us how the storm blew open some room doors and they had gotten soaked. (Hmm - that wasn’t so reassuring) He then offered to provide ‘an air freshener,’ however, our family isn’t into breathing hormone disrupting artificial scents, especially mixed with pet odors. We stayed and chose to do our best to ‘ignore’ the smell. (Maybe this is why he was so adamant about our dogs not urinating or defecating in the room - perhaps he’s the one with PTSD from crappy pet owners who allow this sort of thing)
I will say that the second, ‘humans only’ , room didn’t have an odor and seemed to be decent. Beds were comfortable. So if you don’t travel with pets, you may have a more pleasant experience.
So while this stay has been anything but a 5-star experience, (We won’t elaborate on the stained HUMAN bath towels) we’re going to chalk it up as a learning experience. While we are the first to support small, family owned businesses (entrepreneurship isn’t for the weak) and sing great praises when deserved - Just pop your favorite beverage and keeping driving a bit - stick with the big brand hotels and assure a comfortable, drama free stay.
We pray that the owners learn and grow from this experience. (Maybe don’t allow pets at your business if it’s going to leave you and your patrons feeling so uncomfortable).
*Note: A bit later, after we were in our rooms, he did call back to apologize and admitted fault in arguing the service dog law situation. And a phone call in the morning, to apologize. Good on ya.
Thanks for the stay - Best of luck, Ambassador Inn.

Read moreMy husband and I happened upon this little gem very late one evening. We had planned on an all night drive but we may have gotten too old for that sort of torture. |I approached the motel wondering if anyone might still be available to help us (it was around 1:30am). On the door was information and a phone number. Once dialed I was pleased to find a tired but very kind woman on the other end of the line. She assured me she would be right out to help me, and she was. Within minuets, Jodi arrived and invited me into the front office. We were given room #10, about half way down the front side of the building. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Nice queen size bed, clean carpeting, hot shower. What more could you ask for. |TV offered Roku, and if we hadn’t been so tired we would have enjoyed the ability to use Netflix or any number if viewing options. Jodi had been so helpful with her instructions for the TV, I was sorry not to try it. |AC worked splendidly.|Microwave in the room. ||Huge counter and mirror with electrical outlet just outside the bathroom made primping a breeze and allowed my husband to shower while I was getting ready the next morning.| If we ever find ourselves in this area again we will definitely visit Jodi and Kelly.|Such an...
Read moreBest customer service I've ever received! Terry checked me in just after midnight, and took his time telling me about the property (newly remodeled), how thoroughly he and his wife care for it, how important cleanliness is to them... Free snacks and 2 bottles of water in the room; who else does that?!
He very kindly gave me a discount because I was traveling alone, yet he only had a double room left (I barely got one of those, so it's a popular place)... He charged me for a single room, out of the goodness of his heart, even though I'd already committed to staying (on the condition I didn't touch the 2nd bed).
The room was beautiful... I was immediately struck by how nice the headboards were; it took me by surprise. Comfortable, clean and super friendly.
Without a doubt, my favorite part was the way Terry made me feel like a valued guest, and how much it meant to him to show me he cared about his property and the people who stay there.
After staying in a different motel every night for a week, traveling across the country, this was the only place that stood out (for the right reasons!).
I wish Terry and his wife (and dog!)...
