The hotel itself smells like old mildew or mold. The breakfast was ok, they offered eggs, sausage or bacon (depending on the day) and waffles. Very little. (Also had muffins, bread and 2 cereals) Upon arriving, the lady at the front desk was fantastic! Very upbeat and kind. Gave us hopes of a turnaround from previous reviews… but that’s about all it was. From there, our room had the horrid smell of mold or mildew.. our refrigerator did not work and had water all over the floor and cabinet by it. The toilet was not secured to the floor, so you’d get to wobble around if you needed to sit. The AC did blow cool but it poured water all over the floor. I let the front office know about it and they told me they’d call someone but it would take a while. They couldn’t move us because the hotel was completely booked. (We were there for an event, and majority of the rooms were booked from the event) I told her I’d see if maybe it was a setting on it or something.. which the setting wasn’t all the way, so I turned it up and it seemed to turn on and work for a couple of hours then cut back off. I let the front know the next morning but never heard anything back, so we just went buy a cheap ice chest to keep our stuff in. On Saturday night, there was a music festival across the road that was extremely loud, shaking the hotel.. being we couldn’t sleep, we let the kids go swim, along with 10 other people at about 7:30ish. At 8p the employee at the desk told us we all needed to get out or he’d call the cops. Some pleaded with him being the festival was much louder than our kids and most places the pool closes at 10p but he said no, he’d get in trouble if we stayed past 8. Most of everyone stayed and shortly after 10 minutes went by, he came again and told us, he would call the cops and have all of us removed from the property. Mind you, it’s still summer weather and again, there was the obnoxious music festival boom booming across the road but we weren’t allow to swim (or our kids for that matter) either way, not worth it, we all went inside the mildew hotel. So, overall, never ever again staying at this facility again! There were three positives about the place, the staff working days, location to our event and the scolding hot water! That’s it! Sorry, wish I could have been the naysayer and had a positive experience. My family and I travel all over the country and stay in many different brand hotels and motels.. not often we say never again....
Read moreFirst off let me state how I use hotels. How I rate my stay may be a little different than some as I don’t use most of the amenities like the TV so a non-working TV wouldn’t bother me. When I am just using it for a shower/bed I want to be $100 and under. If I’m staying numerous days (which isn't likely bc I make sure my days are packed full when vacationing) then I stay in a “nicer” hotels which are usually mid $100+ up range. Bc of that, I have to rate the hotels for the price I paid. You can’t expect a 5 star rating at a place that cost $79.
The front desk clerk who checked us in (Barry) was excellent. I cannot say enough nice things about him. He is worth his weight in gold. He was very accommodating and made sure I arrived safely to my room by having the security guard meet me. We arrived really late and I had my three year old (who I had to carry bc it was late and had to be woken once we arrived) which meant carrying all of our bags/belongings.
The room was great and very clean. This is the only thing I really want when staying a few short hours. I look for a clean room, bed, and shower. I’m pretty happy if I at least get that. TV, microwaves, I’d like a cool fridge but it’s not a deal breaker for me.
While I am not a big breakfast fan the breakfast was fine. The only thing I really care for when it comes the hotel breakfasts is the waffle/pancakes that you make yourself. This establishment had pancakes.
My only gripe (nothing to do with the hotel) was that it was further than I wanted to be as I wanted to be closer to the zoo but I’d rather drive a little further if it means having a nice, clean room. And the plus for this property is that the pool area is nice. Most hotels we stay at just have a mediocre pool area so it was nice to have a prettier pool scenery even though my toddler only had about an hr to swim.
I enjoy what time I had there. Barry was excellent. The lady serving the breakfast was also friendly. We will definitely stay here next time and allow ourselves a little more time to enjoy the pool.

Update response to Hotel mgmt: I look forward to returning and will definitely book with you all! That makes my vacation a little bit easier bc, for me, reviewing every hotel and review in the area is so tedious. And I tend to do it once I’ve arrive somewhere since I’m very spontaneous and don’t really plan any vacations, lol🙈 Thank...
Read moreWhen first walking into this hotel, I was immediately hit in the face with an extremely strong deoderizer smell. It literally took my breath away. It seemed to be covering up a really bad poop smell, which I started smelling when the overpowering deodorizer started fading.
The young front desk working was helpful and kind. After arriving in my first room, I found out my refrigerator wasn’t working so I went back to the front desk. He resolved my issue by allowing me to store my food in their personal fridge. Once I got back to the room, my TV was working properly so again I went back to the front desk and he resolved my issue.
Although, this place was said it’s being renovated, it seemed more like a cover up. The bed was very uncomfortable and the room itself was directly across from a gas station. The room echoed throughout the night from trucks, cars, and motorcycles going to the gas station. It took me forever to fall asleep. Once I finally went to sleep, I was awaken by being stung or bit. It hurt! I didn’t sleep at all after that.
Front desk was accommodating and moved me to another room the next morning. Second room was better in the sense it wasn’t outside of the gas station but the bed was very uncomfortable and the room had an unpleasant smell.
I also left my curling iron in the bathroom of the first room and it was never seen again. I was really unhappy about this. I literally didn’t leave the hotel and I was still on the same floor!
Breakfast was terrible. Little variety. The eggs were weird and kind of hard. Bacon was super thin and lacked flavor. The fruit was the only good thing they offered. Coffee was okay.
Even though I had another night to stay, I chose to pack up Sunday morning before I had to go to work to make the 6 1/2 hour drive back home after I got off work at 9 pm because my experience was so horrible.
Will not return.
