We booked this hotel through based on good reviews, location, value for the money, and my previous experience at Econo Lodge hotels. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the front desk attendant, who was very friendly, pleasant, and welcoming. She assigned us a room but as soon as we opened the door to the room, we could tell that it either had not yet been cleaned (beds not made, trash on counter, cups, etc.) OR that someone had not yet checked out of that room and it was still occupied.
We went back to the front desk to let her know, and she apologized and said she wasn't sure what had happened. She assigned us to another room that was supposedly available and clean. When we opened the door, we noticed that the room appeared cleaner and that the beds were made, but one of the beds was missing pillows and the comforter on that bed had small dried drops of blood stains on it. We also noticed stains on the bed that had pillows, and when we pulled back the comforter, there were stains on the sheets and a hole in the fitted sheet. We also noticed there was paper/fast-food trash on the floor next to the bed, dirty (what looked like pasta sauce) stains on the safe, and the framed artwork from the walls was missing (you could see holes where they had been hung). We were quite disgusted with this "clean" room, so we left as soon as we could and can't speak to the condition of the bathroom counter/sink area. If this is what passes for "clean," this is clearly not acceptable to travelers during a pandemic and did not meet our expectations. Our experience up to this point - maybe no more than 45 minutes total - made us feel very uncomfortable. We also didn't feel very safe because it appeared that there might be long-term residents at this hotel.
We returned to the front desk to let her know that the 2nd room was also not clean. She apologized again and told us that she didn't know what was going on and why the rooms were not cleaned. She asked us if we wanted to stay temporarily in the 2nd room while the 1st room she offered to us would be cleaned. We said that if the 2nd room was considered to be "clean," then we declined the offer and asked if she would process a refund. She understood our situation and agreed to a refund, which we appreciated greatly. She then showed us a room on the first floor that was not only actually clean (from what I could tell) but was also upgraded; she couldn't offer it to us b/c it was already booked. The 2 rooms we were assigned on the 2nd floor were definitely older and not well-maintained. Suffice to say, we were at this location maybe no more than an hour, so I can't really comment on an actual overnight stay or any other amenities.
We aren't picky people by any means but were very disappointed in this experience, so I can't understand all the positive reviews. We had been driving almost 8 hours at that point and were exhausted; we just wanted to be in for the evening but had to find another hotel at such a late hour that wouldn't...
Read moreThe reason I would not recommend the Econo Lodge at White Pine TN is because our one night stay was awful. The room was covered in cobwebs, marks all over the walls, dirt on the walls, the door had a gap at the bottom that was wide enough that air blew in constantly, there were cigarette burns in the duvet(our room was non smoking), and the staff (one woman) was awful. The worst part of the stay was the staff. So, full story, we went to TN to buy a puppy and needed to stay in White Pine over night to rest before our drive home. We needed a place that was pet friendly and Econo Lodge was the cheapest and the pictures on the site looked good. The pictures are definitely not what you get. So our puppy was worn out from the drive and was asleep on my lap as we looked at what was near to order food, the pup had a small accident on the bed. It wasn't a huge puddle or anything just a small piddle while sleeping. My daughter (12 years old) went to ask for new sheets while I stripped the bed. When she came back she was visibly upset. She said the woman at the front desk was not very nice. She said the woman asked her why she needed sheets, my daughter explained and she replied by getting an attitude with her and telling her to keep the dog off the bed then told her that "if we ain't got no sheets you ain't getting any" with alot of snark. I understand having a bad day or long shift but to be rude to a kid is ridiculous and by the way if the dog is supposed to stay off the bed it should be written in the agreement when you reserve a room. Accidents and what not are why we PAID AN EXTRA PET FEE. The next thing to happen was about half an hour to an hour later. My partner was about to leave to get food and turned around in the door way to ask what I wanted to drink and the woman from earlier WALKED IN OUR ROOM! She didn't introduce herself, didn't say anything at all. I had no idea who this woman was and she just walked in and started messing with the heat. Then she walked out. We exchanged bewildered looks and my partner chased her down and asked what she was doing. After some back and forth she said she had the wrong room and that was that she walked off. I have NEVER in all my life had such a terrible stay in a hotel. We won't stay in an Econo Lodge ever again. No refund, no partial refund, no apology, nothing. 100% DO NOT recommend unless someone goes in and deep cleans the rooms and seriously fixes the staff. Like I said I understand having a bad day, I understand having a bad shift, I even understand hating your job but, when you're the face of a company and you're snarky and mean and just plain awful to the customers, you don't deserve to work be in...
Read moreWelp, if you just need a place to rest your head for a night then.....meh this place will work. The following review is my personal opinion and thats it. Take it or leave it. So we needed a pet friendly hotel for 1 night because we traveled to TN to get a puppy. I say again "Pet Friendly". First of all the room had cobwebs and scuffs and water damage and...well....refer to the pics. So when we get to the room, the 9 week old pup is exhausted, he falls asleep on the bed next to me while we are discussing where to order food from. Pup wets the bed a little. Nothing major but we didnt want it to soak through. I'm the type of person who immediately feels awful over this because I dont wanna make anyones job harder than it has to be honestly it's my first time staying with a pet in a hotel. My daughter volunteers as tribute to go ask for new sheets while I quickly strip the bed. When she gets back she tells me the woman at the desk was extremely rude to her. She asked for sheets, the lady asked why she needed sheets, daughter tells her the new puppy had an accident and it was only a little but it was still pee and we were very sorry but need new sheets, the lady rolls her eyes at her and with a hefty dose of attitude tells her to keep the dog off the bed and to move aside so she can check for sheets, she then says "if they aint no sheets you aint gettin any!", thankfully there was sheets. We're not stayin at an Ecolodge again, we thought the extra fee we paid for the pet would cover any incidents but Idk. He is 9 weeks old, in a new place with new people and was tired and overwhelmed so he had an accident....it is what it is. Well, turns out I'm not done...girl just walked in our room, no hello, no I'm here to check something, she literally WALKED IN OUR ROOM UNINVITED! She didn't say a word, just messed with the heater and walks out. My husband had to chase her down and ask what was going on, she told him we had to move rooms but turns out SHE HAD THE WRONG ROOM. So, she walked in, no reason given why, walked out, no reason still, then after hubs asked her whats up, she had the wrong room. I'll never stay at an Econolodge again this experience has been such crap. Oh and I wanted to leave immediately and find a new hotel but, go figure, No Refunds or...
