Musty mildly smelled room with mold and mildew growing on the walls and the ceiling in the corners. Paid extra for a Mountain view but what we got was a building instead. It's not as secluded as it shows online in the pictures. It's literally in the middle of this little town that has grown up all around it. So there's lots of buildings all around it blocking views. Not worth the extra price.
Editing my review to add a bit more detail after I read the comment left to me by Kandahar staff.
Upon reading your comment back to me about our stay, I want to assure you that it is in fact Kandahar Lodge that we stayed at. I have pictures of the mold. Of course you can't tell in a picture that it smells like mildew and mold. I have pictures of the front of the lodge as well. I was disappointed by all the condos that were built up around the lodge. I'm assuming the photos that we saw on our booking site we're just older ones before it had been built up around it. There are condos blocking the views. I paid extra during the booking site that I used to book your stay. As far as cleaning, the room itself was clean. As far as the bed, the floor, the walls, the baseboards, the toilet, the sink the shower. I did not reference that it was unclean. I referenced that there was mold growing in the corners of the ceiling in the bathroom and then by the doorway in the actual room. That didn't make it unclean. It meant that maybe there was a water leak above my room or somewhere to cause the mildew. I am happy to send pictures in to someone in customer care department so that they can look into the situation. There wasn't a place for me to add photos when I did the review.
This time around it gave me an option to actually add the photo so I am...
Read moreWe visited Whitefish in January, stayed 10 days at Kandahar. The lodge is beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. The hotel and the rooms were clean. The beds were really comfy. The kitchenette was adequately stocked. The fridges are small undercounter fridges. However, if you ask, they will let you use the larger fridge in one of their meeting rooms. The staff is really friendly. Breakfast had a decent grab and go selection. We were able to get milk, OJ, waffle, oatmeal, cereal, bananas, oranges, muffins and trail mixes. They had hot coffee, tea and chocolate. We really enjoyed the daily fresh popcorn and cookies after playing on the mountain all day.
If internet access is important during your stay (some people still need to work while in vacation), then this place might not be the best to stay. Once the wireless router is at capacity, there is no other internet access options. I was unable to access the internet during the entire weekend. I did access during the week and it was really slow. Also phone service was extremely limited. We had to place our phones on the window sill to get the tiniest bit of service.
If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs! You will hear EVERYTHING in the adjacent rooms.
The ski out access is a very short walk across the parking lot. The ski in access is directly to the lodge.
The outdoor hot tub is large and had a nice ambiance.
There is a small cozy bar inside the hotel. You can order food from the bar to eat there or take it back to your room. The service and drinks were fantastic.
The restaurant is a must do! The food was amazing! Its a unique experience where you purchase a 3, 4 or 5 course meal. They also offer wine pairing with...
Read moreThe beds are comfortable. The rooms are clean and the view is really nice.. I think the nicest part about this place is the lobby, however. The food expirence was not very great. No one allowed inside the bar. You need to book a reservation like 24 hours in advance to eat at the restaurant. There are not many vegitarian options (soup and 1 entree) and from the looks of the menu, they try too hard to make it really fancy, small amounts of food for a large price. Breakfast was a MAJOR disappointment. No hot foods. Not many healthy options, everything is processed and filled with sugar. Breakfast was pretty much a deal breaker for me! The wellness center is good, except they open at 6:30am, makes it hard if you are an early riser and like to work out first thing in the morning. Amenities say outdoor pool and hot tub , but there is no pool, only a hottub and unfortunately the steam room was closed due to covid. FALSE ADVERTIZING!: says there is a free shuttle and there is not! Its only available in winter which they do not specify, and we cant get an uber or lyft because there is none currently available. We are stuck up here on this mountain now with no way to get into town. If we would have known there was no hot breakfast and no shuttle we would have booked another place to stay. We traveld all the way from Boston MA. Staying 3 days and kind of expected more for a...
