Best Western Willows Inn — Hotel in Willows

Terrible customer service. We booked two rooms here through Hotels.com a few weeks before a Memorial Day weekend event at Thunder Hill. The plan was to stay Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. My parents were in town from Iowa and my sister came up from Fresno to watch my husband race.

We checked in on Friday night and went to the event on Saturday. Halfway through the day we were informed that not spectators were allowed and if you weren’t racing you were asked to leave. None of the info on the event registration or site indicated that spectators were not allowed.

We went back to the hotel at noon and went to cancel with Hotels.com and they said no problem. We would only be charged for the night we stayed (Friday). We then went and talked to the receptionist to let them know we were checking out and confirm that we were going to be charged for Friday but receive a refund for the remaining two days. We were told that because we booked through Hotels.com that the hotel was still going to be charged a commission for the stay and so they wouldn’t be refunding our stay for the night we canceled. However, next time if we booked with them direct that we would be able to cancel and receive a refund for the nights we didn’t stay.

So begins a huge dispute process with hotels.com and the credit card company. The hotel charged my incidental card instead of the card I booked with.

Let’s be real, it was a super busy weekend, eve with COVID. You know these rooms were filled as soon as we checked out so they got paid at least twice for them plus the premium they were able to charge for last minute bookings.

So incredibly frustrating. Do not book this hotel unless it’s your only option and be sure not to book with any agency, book direct unless you want to get...

Such professional staff. Even the overall professionalism of that one cleaning lady. Her and I had a friendly chat about how I should be happy being a recycler. And she nicely told me a maid would clean up any messes I mightve accidentally made. I gave her a two thumbs up. She filled my day with satisfaction. You guys are a motel I'd highly recommend it to my friends and family. Much better customer service than your neighbors at Super 8. At your Super 8 neighbor motel the manager was hostile towards me. I hope I never have a manager at Best Western follow me around in their car honking at me or giving me directives. I had that terrible experience at Super 8 back in August 2023. But he should heed warnings not to do it to anyone else. The next person could have a short fuse. Oftentimes the short fuse people could be in possession of like a gun or knife. What if they yanked him out of his car and shot him. But I'd never do that horrible thing. I'm not violent. My point is I am thrilled with my entire experience being a five star review for Best Western. I've been meaning to ask your owner if he or she was okay with someone like me collecting cans and bottles from you because I live recycling for a better planet. The area is not that great. I didn’t feel comfortable parking my car a little far from room since there were no parking spaces available in front of my room. The room looks very old, needs major updates, special the sheets and blankets. The mini refrigerator makes to much noise and didn’t let me sleep. I was not pleased with the coffee maker that is provided and little drinking area that every hotel has for the guest was in the restroom on the sink area. The hotel should place those items on the desk area that is available in the room and not in the restroom. The iron and ironing board are also placed inside the restroom area. The heater and air conditioning unit worked well. Sad to say I don’t recommend the breakfast. Its 3 items that we were allowed to get. The receptionist is the one that gives you the food inside of a small brown paper bag. The things to pick for breakfast are a banana, pound cake, a chocolate cupcake, a small sandwich that has egg, sausage and cheese. There are a few more desserts that are available as well. I had to ask if there was any orange juice because the receptionist didn’t offer us anything to drink. At the entrance next to the front desk there is a coffee table but it didn’t look appealing.
