"Doctor" Jeffery Phillips is an absolute disgrace to the field of Neurology. I went in last month for an appointment and to say it was a disaster is a complete understatement.
I've been suffering from Epileptic seizures since March of 2012. I had brought my fiancee along because I had been hoping to have a conversation about the possibility of having a Vagus Nerve Stimulator implant to combat my seizures (I've been on 6 or 7 different medications since 2012, including rescue medications).
When I brought this up to him, not only did he shot the idea down with incredible finality, but also said the reason why is because "I don't think you have real seizures. You've never had an Abnormal EEG and there's no proof you have real seizures, just pseudoseizures" (which is a super outdated term because it assumes a patient is faking a seizure, when in reality that is physically impossible). He asked me if I "wanted to stay on my seizure medications or not" and when I attempted to correct him and said that "even Non-Epileptic seizures are real" he got extremely combative and said "oh okay, so you know more than a doctor does now, huh". He even told the front desk "no follow-up" as my fiancee and I were leaving. No prescription for my rescue seizure medication either.
The extreme distress he has caused has been seen by a medical transport driver, my fiancee and my roommate. Now I not only have to find a new neurologist, but might even have to travel to Sacramento (from Chico) to do so.
This was only my second appointment with him too, because I had to reschedule the previous two appointments due to, you guessed it... SEIZURES!
Let's just say that I, and everyone else I've told is...not exactly thrilled about this. If you're reading this, "Doctor", it's either time you learned to be compassionate and empathetic with your patients, or retire so someone else can...
Read moreThe neurologist, Dr Phillips is too old to be practicing medicine imho. He was unable to hear me, angry that the staff had not provided “his chair” in the room with me, when I offered him the doctors chair in the exam room he literally huffed at me like a preschooler & said it wasn’t his chair! He could hardly walk, had serious trouble standing and made me nervous as he teetered holding table during my brief appointment. He asked me about my headaches, then cut me off, made assumptions based on my current medications & did not let me finish a sentence?!? He then said I did not have migraines, I had a neck issue causing my headaches that likely would not be fixed by surgery (grand wizard insisted I had a 25% success chance without seeing my MRI or ever examining me- he did not let go of the table) He then went into a ramble about his past wonderful deeds- like a trip down memory lane, reliving glory days and then he staggered out of the door. I was left totally speechless tbh. I’m very disappointed in this experience & can’t believe Dr Phillips is still allowed to practice. I really cannot believe GMC recently hired this man, it’s shocking and I don’t shock easily.
I had my original appointment scheduled for October, so he has a 5 month waiting list but I got in early, due to a cancellation… I’m glad I didn’t wait 5 months for this farce of an appointment. Shame on you GMC for touting your wonderful, new neurologist. I’m actually stunned by this experience 🤯 Do better GMC, heck doing nothing would have been better than wasting my time and getting my hopes up~ Dr Phillips is an accident and/or lawsuit waiting to happen,...
Read moreKau Noa, in Physical Therapy, is OUTSTANDING. She is the BEST. Kau Noa is very knowledgeable about the human body. Kau Noa has a PhD in physical therapy. On a model of the shoulder, Kau Noa showed me the muscles and ligaments that were possibly injured when I fell. Kau Noa then demonstrated the exercises that would help with the injury. Kau Noa gave me 100% of her attention. First Kau Noa demonstrated the movements she wanted me to do and then talked me through the exercise as I performed the exercise. And continued to observe as I performed the exercise/movements and gave little tips for minor adjustments.
AND, AND, Kau Noa took my comments about the "tortures" in stride. (The exercises were NOT torturous.) I liked to tease Kau Noa and she didn't seem to mind. Kau Noa has a very pleasant and friendly personality.
Manny, Kau Noa's assistant, was also helpful and pleasant. He assisted sometimes of the exercises Kau Noa had me do. Manny also produced the instructions for physical therapy movements and exercises Kau Noa prescribed for me to do at home. Thank you Kau Noa and Manny for all your help.
Can't forget Janie. Janie is the office personnel that scheduled the appointments for me. Janie also called me to remind me when I had an appointment coming up the next day. Thank you all for...
