My husband surprised me for my birthday. He made reservations at the 7A Resort. Key word: Resort. The website is very deceiving, it gives you the impression that the resort is loaded with things to do. Unfortunately this was not our experience and we actually spent our weeekend away from the resort. The room we stayed in was on the bottom floor, people were trying to look into the windows. We had people pulling and turning the knob on the door throughout the night. The upstairs guest above us had children and the running and jumping echoed throughout the early morning from 6 am to well into the night after 1 am. It was difficult to sleep. There were no activities, no places to eat and nothing more than a pool for our enjoyment. The ice cream shop was limited to a very small assortment and they had an arcade. My husband basically paid for a room to sleep in. The Blanco River was not accessible from the resort. You had to actually walk a distance and the frontage of the "resort" where the river was accessable to the guest, was so shallow you basically were getting your feet wet. I was very disappointed. My husband was told to take his own towels, so at this high priced resort they did not provide towels, shampoo, soap nor did they provide coffee or teas. The coffee maker was available but no one instructed my husband to bring his own coffee. No one wants to get up and have to drive into the town after paying a large amount of money and search for parking and sit and wait for a long period of time to eat throughout the day. Also, the wifi did not work at all. My personal opinion is that this establishment needs to remove the "resort" from their name and basically call it cottages or hotel. It is not a resort and we feel that we paid for an overpriced room, not a resort at all.
Dear (Owner) I cannot respond to your response. So, I will edit my first review and respond to you this way. Again, there were no accommodations at all for us. When you state you are a river resort, that still does not include resort accommodations. We had to drive into town and wait a very long time to find parking to eat. Once we found parking the places to eat have long wait periods. That's not what we were looking forward to. It was costly and exhausting throughout the day to try and eat three meals a day. Also, relaxing was not the first thing that came to mind when we stayed here. You should at least place a sign on the door or somewhere in the vicinity of the room we stayed in that it was a private guestroom. That way no one was hitting the door and trying to push it in and or pull the knob. We had people tapping our window and standing there trying to look into the paper shades you have. We tried to relax in the pool when at least 25 to 30 teenagers jumped in and started playing in the pool. None of the teenagers had wrist bands, as required for the guests to wear. My husband and I and another couple had to leave the pool from the splashing and loudness. The river was so low and contained mud. I have the pictures as well. I wish that I could say we loves the place but there was nothing to do. We had no resort activities. We asked the girls in the front and it was more of a bother for them to answer any questions. Never a smile, always ignoring everyone (not just us, everyone) There best advice was to look at the brochures. They said the place used to have horse rides, food, music, trails and even early on hunting. That's a resort. A pool doesn't consist of a resort, nor does a river. No coffee, towels, soap, shampoo, or anything, consist of something else than a resort. A resort is a place where everything is conveniently at arms reach. The web site is amazing...
Read moreSorry for the long read …. But RVers BEWARE….. No information was given concerning how to get to the property. For big rigs and motorhomes you need to come in on Green Acres Drive; River Road has many low hanging tree branches it is a very narrow road along with a single lane bridge crossing. I made the mistake of pulling into the first drive that had a 7A sign. It did state that the office was the second left. But we couldn’t see the larger parking lot until after we had pulled into the first parking lot that we were in. We stopped and got out to find the office and see where are camping spot was. We saw a 7A employee on a cart and we’re trying to get his attention he started to drive off but then he did come towards us. I tried asking him where the RV parking was and he wasn’t real sure but said I needed to go back out and that it was on the opposite side of the road. I was in a situation that I had to unhook my towed vehicle so that I could try to back out. The little paths were barely big enough for the vehicles that were driving on them. The employee with 7A offered NO ASSISTANCE in fact he left as we were unhooking the towed vehicle. We did get the motorhome turned around in the parking lot; but we also had some issues with all the low hanging branches. We went down to the driveway with the flag by the gate that the 7A employee had directed us to; and again it was actually the exit side that we pulled into at least this time there was room to turn around. We did get pulled into the right spot and started setting up; that’s when I realized I had caught a branch in there parking lot and it tore up the ladder on the back of the motorhome. We then went to the office and checked in I also asked to speak to a manger. Roy came out and said he was a manager… I then explained to him about everything that had happened and even the damage to our motorhome. I expressed my disappointment in his staff for not offering any assistance and didn’t seem to know where we needed to be he had a radio and never called for help. All Roy offered to do was to talk to his employees about offering better customer service. Without asking I truly thought Roy would offer some kind of compensation for the series of mishaps. I was still charged full price for the 2days that we stayed there. I’m not sure if I’ll ever stay there again, especially with the lack of customer service. RVers BEWARE so this doesn’t...
Read moreI took a group of 27 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to the 7A Ranch in April. We stayed in the Cactus and the Moonlight Lodges. Maengel in the office was SO helpful to me in organizing our Adventure and answering all of my questions before I came. I even had a question about one of the lodges in the evening so called the after hour number that said it was for those staying at the ranch. I talked to Patrick and even though I was not a guest yet, he went over to the Lodge to check it out to give me the answer I needed for my planning.
The lodge rooms were great for 2 people. I don't think I would like to put 4 people in those rooms but it is doable. Our group just needs more individual room. The lodges are perfect for groups our size. We had a campfire at Cactus Lodge. Both lodges had a fire ring. It would be good to bring lawn chairs for sitting in though.
WE went to EmilyAnn Theater grounds, Jacob's Well Natural Area, Blue Hole Metropolitan Park and into Wimberley. Nothing was further than a 10 minute ride! Great location!
We rented kayaks right there at the 7A Ranch and everything worked out great with that. We loved the scavenger hunt at the Pioneer Town. There was a great sports court but we didn't get to use it much due to rainy weather. When it was nice we were usually exploring parks. Every time we had a question or needed something it was answered or done immediately. Everyone was SO friendly!
I called Ms. Grover who runs the Cowboy Museum in Pioneer town and she was willing to set up a time to meet us and let our group tour the museum even though they were only open on Saturdays in April. Everyone had a great time....
