!!!Caution!!! The current low levels of the lake render the advertised pictures highly misleading. Do not anticipate a "lakefront" experience as promised by this property; the lake is not visible, and nearby public parks and swimming areas are closed due to the low water levels. It's challenging to believe that the property managers are unaware of this situation. While I empathize with the local tourist industry, honesty in advertising should take precedence. I am profoundly disappointed by these deceptive practices. It's regrettable that they are misleading customers and refusing refunds. The photo displayed here depicting the lake required us to drive down the road and walk a considerable 50 yards on overgrown paths to capture. There were several areas of hazardous drop-offs and switchbacks, leading us to conclude that this trek wasn't a safe option, prompting us to seek accommodations elsewhere. UPDATE 4-10-29 I am pleased to acknowledge the effort made by the property managers to address the disappointing experience. While a full refund would have been preferable, receiving a partial 50% refund shows a willingness to rectify the situation and prioritize customer satisfaction. Moving forward, I hope this serves as a valuable lesson for the property managers to ensure accurate advertising and maintain transparency with their guests. Furthermore, this experience highlights the importance of providing potential guests with accurate information to enable informed decision-making. By transparently communicating the current conditions and any potential limitations, future guests can better research and ask pertinent questions before making reservations. This proactive approach not only fosters trust but also ensures a more satisfying experience for all parties involved. In addition, it's worth noting that even widely used platforms like Google Maps may not always offer an accurate representation of the property's surroundings. This underscores the need for guests to conduct thorough research beyond relying solely on online mapping services. Asking specific questions about the property's location, amenities, and current conditions can help guests make more informed decisions and avoid any potential disappointments upon arrival. Finally, the most disappointing aspect was that the cabins were well maintained and charming. If the lake had been accessible, we would have chosen to stay. We remain hopeful that one day, if the lake levels rise, we will consider returning to the area.

I stayed at the Millie's Waterfront Cottages a few weeks ago, end of March I think. I was debating whether to give these guys a 4 or 5 star rating. Reason being that, it's supposed to be "waterfront cottages" and with the current climate and water conditions, they are no longer "waterfront". I am going to give them 5-stars. And here's why. 1) When you go to their website, unlike some establishments - it clearly says something to the effect ... "lake is historically low". The information about the water levels being low is there and it gets updated pretty frequently. It takes a lot to be that honest. I really appreciate this. 2) I made about 2-3 phone calls about different subjects. Every single time, someone picked up. They were knowledgeable, helpful and honest. I didn't get the run arounds. Because of the above, we decided to go there and we were really not that disappointed (and that is because since day 1, they've been controlling our expectations). 3) When we got there, we realized that even though the lake/water is a bit of a walk, but the rest of the settings is BEAUTIFUL! It's one of those peaceful Hill Country places where you can watch the sunset laying on a hammock (provided by the property). My boys had a lot of fun playing, walking, running - all that. 4) The actual cottage/rooms. OMG. Spotless clean, very modern, spacious and so very comfortable! We LOVED being there. Watched a scary movie (TV/internet provided by property). They are so much better than the photos on their website. I could go on and on. Overall, this was a very pleasant family stay and we will go back. I can only imagine how wonderful this place would turn out if we get some heavy rain and the lake fills up to the back of the cottages like in the photos. But we can't control that and all these folks can do is be honest - which they were 100%! If we could change one thing about it, we would ask the property to include a fire pit in the back. That way we would turn this into our winter weekend getaway. 5/5 from me. 😊

Millie's Cottages at Canyon Lake are an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by the welcoming atmosphere and the obvious care taken with every detail. Our cottage was immaculately clean, cozy, and incredibly well-equipped, making us feel right at home. The rustic yet comfortable decor perfectly captured the relaxed vibe. The location is fantastic, close enough to enjoy all the lake activities and local attractions, yet secluded enough to offer a peaceful and private retreat. A huge highlight for us was watching our kids' faces light up when they saw deer right on the property, it was such a magical experience for them! Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or a fun family vacation, Millie's Cottages provide the ideal base. We left feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and already planning our next trip back! Highly recommend for anyone seeking a delightful and memorable Canyon Lake experience, especially if you have little ones who would love to see some local wildlife.
