We made last-minute plans to attend the Railbird Festival in Lexington, KY at Red Mile. Hotels near the event were sold out, and the few that we found were outrageously priced. As a result, we ended up booking a room 22 miles away from the venue at Baymont by Wyndham Winchester. After reading the reviews, my friend was super concerned about staying here, but if we tried to find another hotel, we would have been pushed out about an hour away from the venue.||We arrived at about 10 PM and were warmly greeted and checked in by the evening staff. Subsequently, Mike, the manager, found us and made sure we were comfortable and settled in. They even loaned us a wine opener as I had forgotten mine.||Please keep in mind, this is a value-driven hotel. It’s nothing fancy and yes, it needs updates, some new cohesive decor, and replacement windows at the indoor pool. However, if you can look past that and really pay attention to detail, this place is clean.||Perfect example: when you come in through the back entrance and take the stairs to the 2nd level, pay attention to the carpet along the edge of the stairs. Why? Because it is clean and typically dirt builds up along the carpet at the edge of walls because it’s difficult to clean those areas with a vacuum. Also, take a look at the baseboards, windows, metal frames around windows—they do not have build-up on them.||As you are gathering up your continental breakfast and looking out the window, note how clean the metal frame is around the window. I observed them cleaning every surface in the breakfast area, cabinets, etc., after breakfast was over. Our room was clean, our sheets were crisp, and there was no build-up in the bathroom.||Nothing fancy, but I would stay here again because it was clean with no odor. Based on the cleanliness and friendliness, I am giving them 4 stars.||Note: This hotel does not have an elevator, so don’t complain if you need one. Also, during sold-out events, don’t expect to get late checkouts, especially when all hotels an hour and a half out were...
Read moreWhen I arrived and checked in I was told the queen suite with two beds I reserved was not available they only had a king size room. There was me my daughter my best friend and my granddaughter and my dog. There were no linens for the pull-out couch and when I called the front desk I was told I need to come pick them up myself. Which I did only to discover they only gave me one sheet and they didn't want to give me a pillow! So I had to go back to the front desk then back to their laundry room and then back upstairs to make up my bed. Upon checking in I was told my door was special that instead of just shutting it you lift it up on it. So after messing with the door for five minutes I figured out it didn't shut properly. Also there was no second security lock on the door. When I mentioned this to the stuff I was told oh yeah that door was kicked in last week. And apparently you had never been repaired. This hotel says pet friendly but I was told if my dog made noises in the room when I left I would be asked to leave so when my granddaughter wanted to go to the pool I took my dog I want to be told my dog was in the pool area. I told them he was a service dog and I was told that they did not accommodate service dogs. There are no signs anywhere or anything written that says a dog cannot go into the pool area. So I had to stay in the lobby and watched my granddaughter through the glass. When I took my granddaughter to breakfast at 7:30 there was nothing so I asked behind the counter and was told they kept breakfast behind the counter and put it in a paper bag. They did not care they put me in a room with a small child that did not have proper door locks due to it recently being kicked in according to the...

Well i came in later that day from a hard days work amd the truck was by the window next to the room they moved me to and i went up and complained again to the same manager that had told me how wrong they were etc... now the manager is saying that she didn't say that and asked "are you callinge a liar" i said yes thats exactly what you're doing and she called the cops told them i cursed her out etc which was all a big lie only to make me seem like im an aggressive person. All while sitting and eating bbq with the truckers who was barbecuing amd feeding her her daughter and looked like her mom. All this happened after i got out of the shower amd still heard the APU running amd went back up to see had she handled the situation and when i got to the front desk she was sitting and eating bbq with the truckers. Go figure... i will never get a room at this hotel again amd if you want a good nights rest you shouldn't either because they let truckers take over the hotel with trucks running and the parking lot is very small so all trucks are close to your Windows at...
