Lake Roy Beach Inn Winter Haven — Hotel in Winter Haven

The room we had in the newer section in the two story bldg on the lake side (two sides to it), was better than we thought it would be, in that the king size bed was more comfortable than it looked or we thought it would be, and the room was large. It did have a fridge, micro, TV, hair dryer and coffee maker and a few outlets to charge devices, along with having a shared screened in porch with all the other maybe 5 other rooms looking out to the lake and pool.

The bathroom is just average with a tub/shower combo that provides hot water and gets you clean. Toilet is low to ground, but doesn't run and flushes properly, but only a one person room, unless someone is in the tub already - no walking room, but that is most bathrooms in most places.

The one Terrible thing (especially if u r a light sleeper), is the walls, windows and doors r so thin, u HEAR EVERYTHING.

The TV and people's conversations in the room next door, the busy road right near the motel - we were trying to sleep between 11:30pm and 1am last night, and the couple on the opposite side facing the small street (not next door on our side of the lake, but behind us - two story bldg with two sides), came home, turned the TV on, talked about 30 min (could hear what they were saying and even walking or taking their shoes off and dropping them on the floor), and then when we thought they had settled down and were going to sleep, we were hearing the woman's sex moans "oh, oh, oh" and the like!

Not loudly - she was trying to be quiet, but again, walls so thin, might as well have been right in the room filming them!

We r here for 2 more nights - will see what...

Stayed here for my wife’s bday so that we could rent jet skis. First impressions the place is nice and the woman at the counter was very nice also. I made sure at check in that we could use the boat ramp and she said it would be a $10 charge if you want to keep your vessel over night. I was only renting for 4 hours so she said it would be no charge. Ok great and I checked in. Later while we are the only people swimming in the pool we notice an old man (the owner) staring from around a corner the whole time we are swimming. He watched us for 30-40 mins. Made my wife feel very uncomfortable. So the next day we rented jet skis from (radical rentals ) highly recommend. Had a great time. When we got of the and the guy was picking up his skis. The owner was harassing him about giving him $10 to use the boat ramp. So I peacefully walked over to him and told him that he should not be harassing my guy I’m the reason he is there if there is a charge it’s no problem I will pay just stop harassing my guy. After I walked away he kept on my guy until he gave him $10. Then a few minutes later the owner comes back and gave him his $10 back. I guess he must have talked to his wife. Then my wife was expressing to him how he had ruined her birthday. Instead of trying to make the situation better he told her if she doesn’t like we can leave. So we packed our stuff and did not stay the second night I had already prepaid for. Also had small roaches in the room. So to sum it up. Nice place very bad hosts and if you want any privacy at all. DO NOT STAY...

Don't judge a book by its cover! When we pulled up were nervous!!! So nervous we almost gave them the $288 a night and just drove home. BUT we gave it a chance. The place was CLEAN. Like very clean and I scrutinized it pretty hard. The worst I could find was a dead moth outside on the patio. All hard floors, no carpet PRAISE GOD!!! The view is beautiful! What a gorgeous view of the lake. But its right on a busy road so it's loud. Also the street is very busy so you definitely want to keep a close eye on your little ones. Make sure they don't walk out the doors unattended. For all y'all traveling from out of state please remember there are alligators, as there are ANYWHERE in Florida. Contrary to popular belief, they are not killer attack gators. Just give them space and DO NOT FEED THEM!!!! Winter Haven is not a metropolitan area so with all things considered we were happy here. Its a nice alternative to go if you are hitting Legoland and want to save money. Our traveling party consisted of 2 families with small children so we got a 3 bedroom town house. It was basically the bottom and top condos combined. There were stairs so again, keep an eye on the littles if you rent...
