I stayed here last year with my two older sons for a week of fishing, the first fishing and/or vacation my boys and I had taken together since they were in grade school some seventeen years ago. We had a great time, caught a bunch of fish, and so I was excited to bring my youngest son this year who is disabled along with my fiancé. Then one night a week and a half ago while on a walk thru our neighborhood she and her twelve pound shih tzu got attacked by a fifty pound plus boxer with her dog catching the worst of the assault. Our small dog had to spend a night in the animal hospital to have surgery in order to save her eye and to mend her other wounds. The attack was so abrupt and vicious that my fiancé and her puppy had to take a day of convalescing on our couch to start dealing with the emotional damage inflicted to them, trauma so severe that this little bundle of fur shakes at the sight of other four lagged animals, had to go to work with my fiancé all week, and would not leave the house without me or my fiancé standing right next to her.
When I called to explain my situation to the manager, that we couldn't leave our dog with anyone while she recovers from this, and wouldn't think of letting her stay somewhere she might be around other dogs at this time, there "wasn't anything they could do" and because this happened ten days before we were to take our vacation I would lose the $420.00 deposit as well being told that "they were losing money too" because we couldn't stay as planned. I get there are rules, I also get there are reasons for them, but what I don't get is how a person & business in the hospitality industry could be so inhospitable and lack the compassion to flex a little from their regulations under such extraordinary circumstances.
Those of you who have an autistic child like I do, who was looking forward to spending a week on the lake, and know the difficulty that comes with any change will understand the additional challenge I have waiting for me tonight at home explaining to him something I don't understand myself. My hope was that these people would show a little compassion, I would be a customer for life, and sing their praises, but now I can only shake my head in disgust at how they put short sighted lust for a dollar above their own mission of providing facilities for a little time away from the stresses...
Read moreWe have vacationed on beautiful Lake Winnipesauke multiple times over the past 30 years, most recently from Saturday, September 23rd until Saturday, September 30th. During this timeframe we stayed at Piping Rock Resort. We have stayed at Piping Rock Resort, on Winter Harbor in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire several times during the past 30 years.||||Piping Rock has great access to the lake, a nice beach with Adirondack chairs to sit on and a good place for fishing and swimming. It also has convenient boat docks that you could use with a boat slip. It is a great place to watch a sunset over the lake. In addition, it is convenient to shopping, restaurants, museums and other attractions. ||||We have stayed in both the cottages and the suites at Piping Rock. They all vary with different features. The cottage that we stayed in this time was a two bedroom with a kitchen, dining and living area, and screened in porch, Cottage 10. It has a beautiful view and great access to the lake. It had recently been refurbished with very nice wood floors throughout. Although the bathroom was small, it had nice shelves to put things on. The furniture and stove were a bit outdated but fully functional. Part of the week that we stayed at Piping Rock was quite warm and part of the week was rather cool. The cottage did not have air-conditioning, but a ceiling fan, which was not quite enough to cool it down on the real warm days. However, it did have heat that worked well for the nights it was cold. The cottage also did not have a dishwasher or clothes washer and dryer. In any event, we were able to enjoy our visit there and take advantage of reasonable off season rates when we stayed, which was quite nice. ||||We like Piping Rock because of its location and because we are familiar with it as well as the surrounding area. So we would...
Read moreAdvertised as lower cost. However, the units then require a processing fee and a cleaning fee, all of which serves to double the actual per night cost. Not to mention, you must wash dishes and take out any trash or be assessed an additional fee of 25.00. What is the cleaning fee for. Staff adequate.||||Units are neat and tidy and comfortable enough. The resort does have a dock and water recreation equipment available. However the Kayaks and canoes seem worn and overall the attendant paddles, life jackets etc are just in a pile. ||||The place is not conducive for persons with disabilities and the nearest restaurant or food store is 5 miles away. Aside from a place to sleep, not much to...
