Hayat Samarkand — Hotel in Samarkand City

We booked the room for 4 days at Hayat Samarkand Hotel and had confirmed for a pick up from the airport. The pick up was there on time at the airport to pick us up. The hotel is 7 minutes away from the airport which is very convenient. We had booked a Lux room. Upon checking in we were shocked that there was no jet spray in the washroom. Upon enquiring at the reception, we were told that none of the rooms had this facility. This was very shocking especially since its a muslim country. Next morning, we asked to check out since having a jet spray is very important, upon this they offered to have it installed within 20 mins to which we agreed. The whole process took more than 3 hours because of which we were unable to use the washroom since we arrived at 4am till the following evening at 5.30pm. This made us loose one day from our entire trip. Finally it was installed. The room cleaning service needs to be asked for and they dont refill the water bottles or replace used towels. I had to ask for water bottles every day. The breakfast was very mixed - different types of cheese but no taste for any of them. The boiled eggs were not boiled well as the yolk was still uncooked. The sausages were good. Not a vast variety of options. On the 3rd day at night, the jet spray that they installed broke and caused a major water leak in the room flooding the room completely. They were quick to respond to get the water out however told us they would fix the issue next day morning at 8am and we agreed. No one came to fix it till 2pm until we asked for assistance. They sent a plumber who again took more than 2 hours to have it fixed. During this time, they allowed us to use the washroom in the adjacent room which to my surprise was a bigger room and i was told that our room was the LUX room (biggest).While using the other washroom, they closed the water without informing. We were in the the room for not more than 10 mins. In the end, our last day too wasted due to this issue. In total out of 4 days of stay, 2 days were ruined due to this. Room service was not very efficient - used towels not replaced, water bottles not refilled, bedsheets not replaced on any of the days, carpets not vaccumed. The room heater too worked well only on the first day. Remaining days it did not work. I requested the owner for a part refund for all the inconvenience caused however he could not support on it. The owner however, apart from all these issues was helpful. He helped us get a sim card, exchange currency, connected us to the taxi mobile app, suggested us places to visit, restaurants to eat. Communication is an issue as they speak only the local language and each time we had to use mobile translators. Location - Close to the airport however need to use taxis to get to the tourist locations which are 10-15 mins drive away. There is a good supermarket open till midnight right...

Today, in this very hotel, I lived one of the most awkward and humiliating experiences of my life. I was in the lounge after having left my room and preparing to leave the hotel. The male receptionist, failing to use any decent manner, asked me to follow him to the room that I had just left. He showed me a couple of blood stains on the sheet in the bed where I slept. He told me that since I damaged the room I would have had to pay a fine. Basically, this person tried to fine me BECAUSE OF MY PERIOD. I never felt so violated and humiliated in my life!!! I obviously refused to pay, and had to leave the hotel with him SCREAMING at me that he would call the boss to have me paying. Because of my period!!! Women, please spare yourself this humiliation and avoid this hotel...

This is my first time in central Asia I booked this hotel, and I never regret it The are amazing warm heart and nice. They offered me the best rates and service . They are really helpful they helped with their recommendation and by booking a taxi to go to another area. Shukrayar the employee in this hotel is so helpful you know English very well.
