Grand Phoenix Hotel Bac Ninh — Hotel in Bắc Ninh

I would not rate this as a five star hotel, a four star would be appropriate. The room was nice, but a bit small. The beds were very comfy and were the best thing about our stay. There was no mini bar or snack tray, which I would consider obligatory for a five star. The breakfast was sub standard and had little variety for westerners. The hotel has no coffee shops, and one restaurant which is the breakfast room, so you need to go out to find coffee or eateries, however there is not much at all in the vicinity so expect to catch a taxi. The indoor swimming pool was ok, but nothing special. The policy of giving one card for the room is annoying, as it means that if someone wishes to go out, they can't return to the room without help from staff, who seemed in short supply. On checkout, a lady came to get our bags, and told me to put them on the trolley as she couldn't lift them. When the taxi came, we had to take our own bags out as there was literally no one around. This is definitely not a 5-star hotel, 4 stars at best.||The good things I can say about the hotel are that the front lobby is nice and the breakfast is decent.||The Room:|I was given a room for smokers and was only offered a different one if I paid extra (scam). This really makes me question the ethics of the hotel. Most hotels would provide another room free of charge. But here you have to pay more to accommodate yourself. The room I received smelled like cigarettes and food. The overhead showerhead was unusable due to a leak. Odd that they don’t inspect the functionality of their rooms. Ridiculous amount of light switches. ||Spa:|I visited the spa for a massage but felt uncomfortable and decided not to go through with it. There were very limited options, and the environment felt creepy.||I’m sorry, but I probably wouldn’t recommend this hotel other coworkers, friends or family.
