After booking on Agoda, they invited me to discuss details on WhatsApp, but Agoda doesn't show numbers for safety. I found their number on Zalo myself, but they didn't reply for hours.
When I got the instructions, they said my room would have no window, contradicting the Agoda photos, so I sent a screenshot. They said a room with a window costs more but they'd provide it for free. But they sent me a photo of the room I booked, now without a window. So the photos were inaccurate.
Their photo price was 250,000 but I booked through Agoda for 370,000 after discounts. The hotel tried to explain the difference as Agoda's 10% commission, but the math didn't add up.
When I said my payment already exceeded the real cost, they offered to cancel for free. I asked if I could come in person, see the room, and pay the real price, but they refused, saying I "would definitely find another hotel."
After more tries to resolve it and pay the honest price, they just blocked me in the group chat and the private chat with the person whose number was on Agoda. But they didn't cancel my booking!
Later, one of the two guys realized the mistake, unblocked me, and offered a free night, but I declined over safety concerns.
Then he called himself an "it guy" and bragged about finding my social media, threatening me.
Be careful choosing hotels, especially traveling at night with kids! Better to pick well-known ones with a proper reception, not just two shady guys. I have screenshot proof, including that they blocked me, not the other way around. Why would I do that in the middle of the night on the road with a child?
When I contacted Agoda, they called the hotel representative and decided to believe them: that I was trying to blackmail them, but I just wanted the prices and photos to match. And get fair prices.
Their listing on Agoda is overpriced. And neither the photos nor the description mention that the room has no windows. There is even some glass in the photo, I was told this is in the corridor. But how can a potential client know this if nothing is written?!
Upd And the fact that my review is not fake is easy to understand by looking at my account: there is a lot of...
Read moreThe accommodation is called kiely's homestay. We couldn't find it at first because we were looking for it on Google maps and as you can see it's named differently. You can see the Kiely's sign in front of the building. This guesthouse/abnb is very nice, I took the cheapest room and the facilities in it were great. The air conditioning worked, there is also a fan in the room, a fridge, a desk, pots, cutlery, soap, rice cooker, hairdryer, electric kettle, electric hotplate. The bed is just right, not too hard, not too soft, just right for me. Very good price for the room. As for the owner, she is a very nice lady who tries to satisfy her guests 100%. She helped me equip a private boat at the floating market for a lower price than at the port. Also, after I took the room, she sent me a message with places I could visit in the area, which was very helpful because I knew very little about this city. She is almost always available, so communication with her is very fast. I recommend...
Read moreWe had a lovely time staying here! The cafe owner downstairs from the homestay was very sweet, she gave us very yummy free drinks and made us feel very welcome when we arrived, and the room was comfy. Nice and quiet, and the ac worked really well. The best part of our stay, though, was the amazing kindness of the owner of the homestay. When our tour of the floating market that was set up for us ended up not being what we expected (not the owner's fault at all), she really advocated for us and made sure that we got a full refund and made us feel very cared for. Then she took an entire afternoon out of her day to take us to see some of the itinerary items that we didn't get to see, like the noodle making tour stop, and took us to an amazing local food place after! We would highly recommend coming here, it is hosted and owned by some of the kindest people we have met in Vietnam and they will take very good...
