We booked a tour with TNK through GetYourGuide to spend 2 nights and three days traveling the Mekong River that culminated in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We paid a lot of money for the two of us and this was the kind of hotel they put us in?! I would NEVER have selected this hotel for myself. We had no other options given to us so we stayed here for the one night.||A tiny little elevator that barely held two people took us to our room on the 5th floor. Thankfully they had an elevator because I don't think our luggage would have fit in the stairwell. The hallways were not much better. Our room was small, I had to open my suitcase inside the closet. It had an old tube television hanging on a bracket in the corner close to the ceiling. The plastic parts of the television were being held together with scotch tape. I never bothered to turn it on so I can't even say if it worked. The mini fridge in the room definitely did not work. The a/c was old and tired and could not sufficiently cool the room. There was an oscillating fan on the ceiling that made a racket when you turned it on but we had to use it or never would have survived the night. ||The bed and pillow were very hard. The bed did not have a sheet, just a blanket. The room looked run down and uncleaned. The walls were marked and banged up. The blinds were thin and stained. The towel on the floor in the bathroom was also stained and either moth eaten or just plain worn out as it had a hole through it. I must say I did like the tile used in the bathroom. I noticed the little bottle of shampoo in the bathroom was about 1/2 empty so it was obviously used by one of the prior occupant's of this room and not replaced as it should have been. We never bothered to use the shower in the morning as we just wanted to get out of there so I can't say if there was sufficient pressure or hot water. Nothing was complimentary in the room, no water, coffee or tea.||After seeing the condition of our room, etc. I decided to forego the included breakfast, however my wife did not. When she returned she advised me the restaurant (which is on the top floor of the hotel) was disgustingly filthy. She grabbed a couple of buns as she said they were just delivered and were still in the bag so she thought they should be safe and hightailed it out of there. ||I can't remember what the staff at this hotel were like so I assume they did not do anything for us out of the ordinary.||I recommend if you are considering staying at this hotel, don't. If it was the only hotel available and the last resort and I'm running short of cash I would still not stay at this hotel. I would rather stay up all night or sleep on a park bench or under a bridge somewhere. I guess it is a super cheap hotel or else this tour company wouldn't have booked it for us so only you can decide if this is the right hotel for you. We paid good money for the tour so didn't...
Read moreWe were booked into the Hai Chau as part of a Mekong package with TNK Travel. Why they spoil a very good tour with such fifth rate accommodation is beyond me. Scruffy lobby decorated with motorcycle parts, a room totally filled with beds which, incredibly , had no top sheet, just a scruffy bed cover. Tip: I went up to the dining room and nicked a sheet from the linen room. While up there I saw how dirty the place is.|OK. It,s cheap and would suit budget travelers, but we declined a second night and moved to the Kim Tho which was infinitely better for little extra cost. | I must congratulate the Hai Chau receptionist who came on duty later on his excellent English and his helpful attitude. Pity he's not...
Read moreStayed as part of mekong delta tour with Tnk travel. Wouldn't have picked this myself. Reception was friendly and 24hour but they take your passports overnight. The room was average and dated. Huge old TV that made alot of static noise. Rock solid bed which I didn't get much sleep on. Bathroom was a nightmare I wore my jandals in there because it didn't look that clean. The shower was full of mould and the shower head was broken so you had to hold it to shower it was fully off the attachment. I didn't feel like I was getting clean in there. They did supply free water which was great. Breakfast choices were limited to eggs and bread. Definitely wouldn't stay...
